  1. Come on Willy, are you and the home plate ump in deep with the mob on this one. Trash
  2. Probably pitching and maybe 1B or 3B depending on lots and lots of variables. Honestly it might be best to try and get some IF prospects. Maybe prospect swaps like Frelick to Tampa for Kyle Manzardo (or Curtis Mead) and a second piece or Frelick to Cincy for Noelvi Marte. Hard to predict anything for the next month or so.
  3. His minor league stats are really solid. Probably a better option than Small or other lefties. Hopefully it was a ton of int. money. He has a mid 90s heater and nice slider so this is a solid arm here. Kind of like Jake Cousins from the left side.
  4. No. But maybe Yeli and Chourio for Trout and a sweetner (still probably not). The only deal I could see us giving up Chourio would be for a young near star (most stars the other team wouldn't do) and a few good prospects. Maybe if he has a decent but not amazing year and all 3 OF prospects are great in mlb play, I could see something next offseason.
  5. I wouldnt call TT the odd man out, I'd rather trade Voit (Philly) or maybe even Brousseau, Miller, or Urias if Anderson is playing well still in 3 weeks. I agree all of the rooks have looked great but give scoting 50-100 and there will likely be adjustments and a slump that might need a short AAA stint to adjust to.
  6. Also wouldn't mind Turang getting bats vs. lefties eventually.
  7. Lauer throwing 90 middle middle is a bad look. Also why can't we hit average lefties like Montgomery, Quintana, and Justin Steele. We missed the playoffs in part because our inability to hit lefties. Contreras should not sit vs. Lefties.
  8. They try that little league 1st 3rd steal 3/4 times a year and the last time it worked was with Arcia. Counsil got lucky Payamps didn't explode after pulling Woody after 84 pitches and now the little league steal backfires.
  9. Winker has been great but maybe it would be easiest to move him and put Yeli at DH. Moving Yeli is just going to be tricky maybe he waves the no trade to a Cali team but the Dodgers and A's would never take him. The Giants don't have any bad contracts and the Angels probably don't want any more long term contracts if they want to keep Ohtani. Although Rendon for Yeli is intriguing (I think we would pass).
  10. It would be nice to turn Yeli or Winker into another solid pen option and get Frelick in there as well. Last year Frelick seemed more advanced than Weimer and Mitchell. Maybe Yeli, Cousins, Payamps, and Urias for Chris Sale and Kenley Jansen. Sale slots into the Josh Hader role from his first 2 year, Kenley goes to set up. We up our payroll short term but free up the future and don't maybe get better by subtraction. Anderson to 3b, Sal to LF. Sox get 4 contributors and out near term contracts to make a run at free agents next year.
  11. In my opinion there are multiple ways to build a Burnes trade. 1)prospects, Top 50 (preferably top 25), 2 high end prospects (at least borderline top 100 prospects), and a 4th piece (lotto type prospect/lower value mlb player aka reliever) O's=Jackson Holiday, Jordan Westburg, DL Hall, Keegan Akin 2) Clevinger style, for like 6 interesting pieces but none are huge prospects or big time young mlb talent. Yankees=Austin Wells, Spencer Jones, Trey Sweeney, Clarke Schmidt, Estevian Florial, Carson Coleman 3) mlb talent, trade him for an established mlb player who won't cost as much and more maybe 3 teams. We get Bryan Reynolds and Brett Baty Mets= Burnes Pirates=Kevin Parada, Weimer/Mitchell, David Peterson 4)Combine with Willy for a Soto style haul Dodgers= Bobby Miller, Miguel Vargas, Gavin Stone, Ryan Pepiot, and Michael Busch Probably more as well
  12. All the bad stuff from last year wrapped into 1 game. Bases loaded 1 out= Weak double play Pitching good except 1 blowup inning Offense= Way to streaky (or just none)
  13. When do minor league teams normally put out a finalized roster? Great to hear the org. being semi aggressive and putting Wagoner in A+ to start the year.
  14. MVP: Woodruff/Adames CY Young: Woodruff Rookie of the Year: Turang BA Leader: (.285 Yeli, Frelick hit .301 but doesn't qualify) HR Leader: Contreras/Adames 32 ERA Leader: Woodruff 2.52 SO Leader: Woodruff 231 WAR Leader: Adames 6.3, Woody 6.8 Breakout(s): Contreras, Turang, Guerra, Ashby Disappointment(s): Multiple injuries to key players (Rowdy, Winker, Mitchell, Miley, Lauer) and bullpen issues. Bold Prediction (s): Yeli leads the league in SB, team starts slow (bullpen/injuries) 26-34, we trade Burnes O's in July (Holiday, Westburg, DL Hall, Keegan Akin and then the team plays better and sneaks in the playoffs. Front office gets lots of blame for trading Burnes to early but adds a couple key pieces at the deadline that make up for it. Record: 87-75 Playoffs- Win 1st round, lose 2nd to Dodgers
  15. What do you think opening day order will be vs. Stromen, I am going Miller over Weimer at this point (switch Weimer for Anderson if Wiemer makes it) 1)LF Yeli 2)SS Adames 3)1B Rowdy 4) C Contreras 5) DH Winker 6) 3B Urias 7) CF Mitchell 8)RF Anderson 9) 2B Turang Bush 8th inning, Strezlecki 7th
  16. Probably Wilson or Payamps, I'd cut Wilson lose because we need more pen help in my opinion. Like someone said earlier, maybe Wilson or Payamps shoulder gets really tight and goes on the DL to start.
  17. Pirates 64-98, they got a bit more interesting with Santana, Choi, and Cutch add a little stability and leadership but not a ton of upside. They could be +/- 5 games if Cruz lives up to potential or if he stinks. Reds 74-88, I wanted to switch the Cubs and Reds but couldn't. Lodolo, Greene, and Ashcraft have the stuff to be the best top of the rotation in the bigs in a few years (who knows if they can reach that potential). Add in some young infield talent they could be sneaky ok. Cubs 77-85, The Cubs added a bunch of maybe's basically there entire pitching staff overachieved last year. They have some serious upside but I doubt any of there younger guys turn into all stars, Bellinger isn't likely turning back into an mvp candidate, and Swanson has been a below average SS until last year. Brewers 87-75 A lot depends on the bullpen to me. Our lineup should be better adding Contreras and Winker, and then the young guys getting a chance. However the pen is super worrisome to me. Cards 92-70 There lineup has ridiculous upside, especially if Jordan Walker puts up big numbers. There rotation is good enough to keep them in games and get to a top notch bullpen. In my opinion, to catch the Cards we need 2 hitters to be true middle if the order bats and have the young guys play well. On top of getting high quality late inning work from 2 or 3 guys not named Williams.
  18. Just meant someone like Laureano, right handed OF that can play a bunch for a month and then be traded or be 4th of and trade Taylor. Laureano and Huira were both 0.9 WAR players, Laureano makes a million more and is no longer a gold glove caliber player.
  19. Yeli to DH in 2024 makes way to much sense. The 3 young guys in the OF and utility guys like Miller would be enough to cover the OF. Maybe a potential Yeli trade next year if something would make sense. I like the idea of Frelick making the OD roster. Him in CF and Mitchell in RF. If he is playing well keep him up and go for Rookie of the Year, if not send him down for a bit when Taylor is healthy and gain the extra year. I think Couns saying Weimer has a chance is a bit strategy. Naquin and Perkins haven't been great but Weimer hasn't been so great it would be worth taking up a 40 man spot and using some of his service time. I am still not counting out a Huira for Ramon Laureano type trade.
  20. C-Darrien Miller. 12 hr, 6 sb, .381 obp in 89 A+ games at 21 is impressive, if he can bring the average up a bit there is some high quality prospect in him. Position- Luke Adams. 6'4" 210 pound HS prospect who lasted to the 12th round. He can play 3rd and could even pitch (not that he probably will). In a system without any true 3B he could move quickly from outside top 30 to top 15 in no time. Position- Quinton Low, Like Adams a 13th round pick (but in 2021) with some pitching potential (11 ip 1 run 16 k's 5 bb). 6'6" with power and plate disipline and no other legit 1B prospects in the system. Maybe his future as a pitcher is the only thing that would slow him down. P- Cameron Wagoner, reports were that he was throwing 97-98 last year with a solid repitiore. He pitched well in Australia this offseason. There is some Woodruff, Burnes, Nelson type feel to him in my opinion. RP- Jeison Pena. 64k's in 46 innings across 3 levels (up to A+) at 19. I haven't found a reliable scouting report on what and how hard he throws but I am guessing his stuff is legit. Also at 6'1" 165 I am guessing there is a bunch of muscle to add to put even more mph's on.
  21. I would say I am moderately worried on relievers lije Cousins. He still has a week are so to get it sorted however, if a late inning reliever stink it could cost us a couple games which is huge. Granted Counsil could just use him in low leverage situations early and ease into it. Lauer slow start doesn't worry me much either. Still a few starts to get it fine tuned. Has anyone gotten to watch Tyson Miller pitch and have a reason for his strong spring. I didn't think he had a prayer to make the team and now maybe he does.
  22. Frelick reminds me a ton of Johnny Damon if I am making a comparison as to who he could be like. Short, quick swing, excellent on the base paths, more power than most would expect, and he should be a solid in the field. Obviously that is on the higher/est end of his potential. Also Carlos Rodriguez looked pretty good in the WBC FOR Nicuargua. 4 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 4 k's. Also that run shouldn't have scored but the defense botched an easy double play that would have got him out of the inning. That was also against Puerto Rico which has finish 2nd in the WBC a couple times in a row. I can't find it but there is a clip of a flithy slider his struck Javy Baez out on.
  23. Looking at other outlier teams, the Yankees have an interesting system and could work if they start with Volpe. The Phillies have some great pitching even with the Andrew Painter injury. The Twins could make sense with a deep farm and no obvious ace. The Angels could make some sense if it becomes clear they would lose Ohtani. The Red Sox could work if they play better than I think they will. The Ray's would fit into the Gaurdians category of they could but it wouldn't make sense because they wouldn't pay him. The Cards could work as well but I doubt anything in division that bug would go down. The D-backs could also possibly work at mid season if they are playing well and a couple of their younger prospects make a jump. Obviously the Dodgers and O's would be the best trade partners today but around the trade deadline who knows. I don't think I would package Burnes and Adames together. Separately they should get a Soto type package I doubt they get that together.
  24. There has been talk for a couple years of the team trying to get him to lift the ball more. I can't say I see any big differences but sometime the smallest tweaks can do it.
  25. I think one of Uribe, Guerra, or Cousins will be a very solid 8th inning guy or top notch 7th. I also think Matt Bush will be better (solid 8th/great 7th) especially if the staff can get him to throw the heater up in the zone more.
