  1. Both are soft throwing lefties that don't strike guys out, they are older and not really late inning options. I agree Bleier is better but not much.
  2. Judge= 8/320 yankees Bogy=8/224 giants Nimmo= 6/120 giants Correa= 8/240 cubs Swanson= 8/160 cards Bassitt= 5/115 Mets Contreras=3/51 Red Sox (market won't develop) Rodon= 5/130 Twins Senga= 5/100 Giants Murphy to Rays, Reynolds to Yankees, Pablo Lopez to Red Sox
  3. Judge Correa Bogearts Swanson Bassitt Nimmo Contrares Rodon Senga Trade Canidates=Reynolds, Murphy, Pablo Lopez, etc
  4. If we end up trading on of Willy, Burnes, or Woody I could see us going after Murphy or Kirk (or Moreno). Say the Dodgers offer us a 4 (or 3 top 100) player package with 2 strong pitching prospects we can't refuse for Willy then I would turn our OF depth into a catcher. Say we get Miller, Pepiot, and a piece or two for Adames, then send Mitchell/Weimer, Ruiz, and a pitcher of A's choose (throw in Huira) for Murphy (and maybe a reliever or Tony Kemp).
  5. What about Austin Nola (or Luis Campusano), the Pads are said to be looking at Vazquez and other catching. Nola seems like he would a solid pair with Caratini (both with Pads in spring training). Nola has 3 years remaining and I doubt would cost a huge return. Campusano would cost more and has less of a guarantee of being a solid C (with much higher ceiling). I've also brought up MJ Melendez a bunch before, he is blocked by Perez and our organization would be a perfect place for him. He was trash defensively but I think we could right that ship with our C track record. One more name could be Mike Zunino, he was awful last year, but hit 33 HR with a 136 ops+. For a cheap 1 year deal with an option we could do worse.
  6. Adames was a near gold glove calibar defender, I wouldn't move him as tempting as it is. If Turang is a plus SS he should be plus plus at 2B. If that is the case it will only add to his value especially with shifts banned it will be nice to have a 2B with more range and arm strength. By next offseason it should be clearer on the Burnes, Woody, Adames extension future and make this argument easier.
  7. I would love Yandy, however I feel he would be best at 1st. I doubt we would want Blier especially for a solid prospect like Black, he really isn't much different than Suter who we cut for the same salary.
  8. I would be happy with this, I doubt Kimbrel signs for 3.5, just on reputation he will like get 7-8.
  9. I wouldnt mind Reynolds but he is turning into a LF quickly which doesn't work. We would also like need to overpay, my guess is that it would need to be Frelick/Weimer, Mitchell/Ruiz, and the Pirates chose of 2 pitchers which seems like to much. I read that the Padres where in on Christian Vasquez. I know we have done a ton of business with them but Aaron Nola or Luis Campusano would both be nice options.
  10. Junk eventually Gasser, could even sign someone like Wade Miley and slide Ashby to LR/6th man with some extra cash in this scenerio.
  11. Here's my post Wong/Renfroe blueprint. Sign Justin Turner 1/14 (team option 2 mill buyout on 14 million team option year) Turner provides a short term middle of the order option, he can also DH vs. LHP for Winker Trade Urias to Marlins for Tanner Scott and a prospect (Victor Mesa Jr.) Marlins add offense we get a high end arm and something extra Lauer and Huira to Det for Gregory Soto and a decent prospect (Wenceel Perez) We get another top tier bullpen arm and the Tigers get a dependable starter and lottery style bat. Ruiz, Small, and Feliciano to KC for MJ Melendez Melendez is blocked at C, the Royals get 3 potential pieces that wouldn't be huge for our future plans. Obviously this leaves us with some money to spend, maybe we swing a big deal at the deadline if need to. Vs rhp 1) LF Yeli 2) 3B Turner 3)1B Tellez 4)DH Winker 5)SS Adames 6)RF Mitchell 7) CF Frelich 8)C Melendez/Caratini 9)2B Turang Vs lhp 1)LF Yeli 2)3B Brousseau 3)DH Turner 4)SS Adames 5)RF Taylor 6)1B Tellez 7)C Melendez 8) CFMitchell/Frelich 9)2B Toro/Turang 1)Burnes 2)Woody 3)Peralta 4)Ashby 5) Houser CP)Williams 7th/8th)Soto, Bush, Cousins RP)Milner, Scott, Guerra/Strez LR/6th stater)Junk (4 98+ heaters potentially) C: MJ Melendez ($.7M) 1B: Rowdy Tellez ($5.30M) 2B: Turang ($0.7M) 3B: Justin Turner ($14M) SS: Willy Adames ($9.20M) LF: Christian Yelich ($22.00M) CF: Frelich ($0.70M) DH: Winker ($8.25M) Bench OF: Taylor ($2M) Utility: Brosseau ($1.4M) Utility: Toro ($1M) Backup C: Caratini ($2.8M) RF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.70M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($11.40M) SP2: Brandon Woodruff ($11.00M) SP3: Freddy Peralta ($3.50M) SP4: Ashby ($1M) SP5: Adrian Hauser ($3.60M) CL: Devin Williams ($3.20M) RP: Cousins ($0.7M) RP: Matt Bush ($2.00M) RP: Tanner Scott ($.7M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.10M) RP: Guerra/Strez ($.7M) RP: Junk ($.7M) RP: Gregory Soto ($3M) Payroll is 14.35% under budget
  12. I doubt Winker gets flipped unless you count the trade deadline during the season.
  13. 5 years for a 35 yr old with 150 innings in 2 years is nuts. He is probably worth that kind of money if he stats 30 games a year to some teams but I would bet he makes less than 100 starts in 5 years (like 2 million a start.
  14. I am OK with this trade but I am a little conflicted. If Winker rebounds this can be good trade but unless Toro becomes a starter which is highly unlikely there really is no great trade or we robbed them route. The part that worries me is the reports that Winker isn't a hard worker and didn't work on improving his game last year. It should be an upgrade at DH but almost assuredly a down grade at Utl. On top of it we don't save any money.
  15. Let me clarify, when I think of a middle of the order hitter I think .280+ 100 rbi's and decent power (20+) and not a crazy amount of strikeouts. Yes, Weimer and Chourio (and maybe Mitchell) have potential to get to those numbers both have some strikeout worries potentially and in Chourio's case a few levels of better pitching to prove themselves. Rowdy, Willy, and Yeli still have some middle of the order juice as well if Rowdy and Willy can get the BA up to .270 or so and Yeli would need to remember how to lift the ball (and not miss juicy middle middle pitches). Sorry my we don't have an obvious +100 rbi guy wasn't the best description,
  16. I'd pass on Flexen for a prospect, for me Houser is a better version of Flexen making less money. Houser just needs to throw the heater a bit less often. I agree we should be optimistic, Wong and Renfroe are replaceable. It might take a bit for to adjust to big league pitching but we can easily replace both and potentially get better if the young players play top end defense. This team is really a middle of the order hitter and some bullpen pieces away from having a contending roster. Even if we trade one of Woody, Burnes, or Adames we can still put together a contending team with a few fix-it moves. If the Brewers of the past 7-8 years let 2 of our better bats go it would have meant rebuild however our system is so much better and we can do a lot by buying and selling at the same time.
  17. I would like for a elite middle of the order profile hitter in a Burnes trade 1st and foremost, with a 2nd prospect just maximize value (wherever they play). Then with 3rd and 4th prospects get younger prospects with the loudest tools or quality reliever (if available). If you look at our young bats there really isn't an obvious 100 rbi guy.
  18. Tyler Anderson 2.57 era in 178 innings 3/39 Zach Eflin 4.04 era in 75 innings 3/40 I get that teams are into advance stats and maybe the Rays see something like a new type of opener who can pitch like 2-3 innnings every 3 or 4 days but this is off for a savy team. Also the Boyd contract is hilariously awful, it's not like he has a big arm or will be a workhorse. For a team that struggled with pitching injuries getting a starter with injury issues for almost triple what other would have given him is beyond awful. I live in Michigan and the fans around here are really really down on the Tigers front office and they just put a new one in place. Guys like Lauer and Hauser's value should be skyrocketing after those deals.
  19. Raises in arby, decline in attendence, hopefully an extension for Woody, Burnes, or Adames. I don't get why the Dodgers would want Wong I get the article on mlbtraderumors said to shift Lux to 3B but that seems strange to me. Hopefully with Wong we try and get the best prospect/player we can instead of the 3 lesser players idea. Our system is pretty deep, time to up the quality where possible.
  20. I doubt it just because it has seemed like the FO intention to give Turang a shot at some point. Also with Yeli it would be hard to give someone else 30 million and if we did it would be Burnes or Woody before, I would think.
  21. I know inter-division trades are almost impossible especially for contending teams but the Cards would be an intersting trade canidate for Burnes or Woody. I want to make this clear, I would not myself as a gm do any big time moves with the cards, just making ideas. Woody for Nolan Gorman, Gordan Graffeco or Tink Hence, and Jake Walsh or Freddy Pacheco. We would get a high end mlb 3B, potential top of the rotation arm, and a young contollable big arm reliever. The cards wouldn't loose much with Gorman because he is so blocked and still have a few high end young arms. If the trade was Burnes instead maybe add in another prospect or younger big league player. I am sure Adames to the cards would be equally interesting or close in value, probably a slightly less valuable prospect than Graffeco or Hence like Matthew Liberatore, Cooper Hjerpe, or Michael McCreevy.
  22. I'd look at it more in games (there are 486 games for the OF), obviously it is hard to predict injuries so that would change everything. Yeli 60 games (80-90 at DH), Frelich 140 games, Mitchell 140, Taylor/Ruiz 110 games, Perkins/Weimer 36 games. This is assuming Mitchell and Frelich both hit lefties ok, the more I look at it the more I just want Yeli at full time DH with Ruiz, Frelich, Mitchell in the OF everyday and then Taylor take one of the lefties spots for lhp and spot starts for Ruiz. Maybe Weimer gets a chance to start if/when someone gets injured.
  23. I wouldn't mind taking a stab on Gallo as a 4th OF/back 1B/DH (maybe even a rare 3B start)however the team would be getting very left handed especially with Turang, Mitchell, and Frelich. Gallo would likely be a guy I would give a smaller offer to with a lot of incentives. That being said it probably is smarter to just keep TT as a 4th OF and use the money in the pen.
  24. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/mlb-sells-remaining-bamtech-share-to-disney.html Seems like that money would buy us a nice reliever or decent starter if we trade Woody/Burnes. Mark A has always seemed like he has put money like this back into the team. However if every team gets the money it would make sense for mid tier free agents to get way overpaid and we stay away.
  25. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_5_draft_results There are usually only a couple players who get picked and stay on that team the entire year. I would say there is a decent chance he gets picked in the later stages but still a low chance he breaks camp with the team and even lower that stays up the entire year. The 1st 5 or 6 teams that pick are teams he could conceivably make but I can see him making a team that picks in the middle or end of the rule 5.
