  1. It's that time of year where not much happens, Winter Meeting start Dec. 4 so at this point everyone is really just putting feelers out all over the place. With Stearns it didn't seem like we were allowed to do anything until Late Jan or Feb., maybe Arnold won't be as patient and make us wait so long for moves.
  2. I am not sure if this needs it's own thread but where do you see some of our more interesting prospects placed to start the year. Here are my thoughts. Chourio-A+ He has only had 142 AB's there and I think it would be better for his development and psyche to start in A+ and dominate. After 20 games or so send him to AA and that gives enough time for a late year AAA push. Quero- A+ Pretty much the same as Chourio, not a ton of high A AB's, for the 2 teenagers getting a positive start to the season should go a long way. Carlos Rodriguez- A+ If there was one of the 3 of Chorio, Quero, and Rodriguez I would get aggressive with and start in AA it would be Rodriguez. However he should get few more successful starts in A+. Zavier Warren-AAA Here is where I would get aggressive, he only had 28 AA games but with a solid AFL and major versatility I would challenge Warren. Middendorf-AAA Same as Warren, 9 innings in AA but with a good AFL and older prospect (25) AAA isn't crazy. It also gives him a shot to help the big league club earlier if an injury occurs. Uribe- AA This is a super tough one, if Uribe had been healthy last year I would have gave him a chance to make the big league roster. However I think we will sign or minor trade for a bunch of veteran minor league guys like Box, Zimm, and Strickland from a few years ago. That will push Uribe to AA with a quick move to AAA in the cards. Black- AA He was probably a week or so away from AA last year and maybe had a chance to start in AAA. However I would go slower with the injuries. Eric Brown-A+ I would give him a shot to move quickly. Other-Zamora AA, Knarr AAA, Zamora AA, Moore A I am sure I left out a debatable case or to and to be honest didn't really think of minor league depth charts and potential log jams.
  3. 1) Burnes to Atl for Contreres, Ian Anderson, Victor Vodnik. Justin-Henry Malloy and lotto ticket prospect. 2) Trade Estuery Ruiz, Ethan Small, and Tyrone Taylor for Trevor Rogers 3)Trade Eric Lauer and Hedbert Perez to Baltimore for Jordan Westburg 4) Renfroe to Tex for Jose Leclerc and prospect (tex pays 2 million of Leclerc) 5)Trade Wong to Seattle for 2 prospects 6)Sign Jose Abreu 2/42 7)Sign Raimel Tapia 1/1.5 incentives 1)Frelich 2)Yeli 3)Abreu 4)Contreras 5)Tellez 6)Willy 7)Mitchell 8)Westburg 9) Turang Bench) Urias, Brosseau, Caratini, Tapia 1)Woody 2)Peralta 3)Anderson 4)Rogers 5)Houser Pen=Williams, LeClerc, Bush, Vodnik/Strezlecki, Cousins, Milner, Guerra, Ashby That lineup would be sick and we could have 4 top of the rotation starters if all things go well. Add in all the high end arms in the pen with some decent depth. C: William Contrares ($0.7M) 1B: Jose Abreu ($21M) 2B: Turang ($.7M) 3B: Westburg ($.7M) SS: Willy Adames ($9.20M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Frelich ($0.70M) RF: Mitchell ($.7M) DH: Tellez ($5.3M) Bench OF: Raimel Tapia ($1.5M) Utility: Urias ($4.2M) Utility: Brosseau ($1M) Backup C: Caratini ($2.8M) SP1: Rogers ($.7M) SP2: Brandon Woodruff ($11.00M) SP3: Freddy Peralta ($3.50M) SP4: Anderson ($.7M) SP5: Adrian Hauser ($3.60M) CL: Devin Williams ($3.20M) RP: Leclerc ($4M) RP: Matt Bush ($2.00M) RP: Ashby ($1M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.10M) RP: Vodnik ($.7M) RP: Cousins ($.7M) RP: Guerra ($.7M) Payroll is 17.38% under budget
  4. I would like Bellinger at 1B but he has more value in the OF. Also he probably gets 10+ with a ton of incentives which might be a bit to risky for us. Voit wouldn't be bad as a DH, however I'd rather just use Rowdy at DH and find a new 1B. Reyes Moronta, Ryan Yarbrough, Jorge Algaro, Raimel Tapia and Edwin Rios would all be interesting bench/end of bullpen 5th starter options.
  5. He has a great arm, averaged 98 on heater. A little tweak and he has some late inning potential. Better than Gustave, Gott, Suter, or Perdomo.
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/marlins-trade-rumors-trevor-rogers-pablo-lopez.html Marlins could potentially trade Trevor Rogers. If we ended up trading Burnes or Woody I would definitely be interested. I would guess the Marlins would want a price much closer to his rookie season value than last year however. Also we have been burning the Marlins in transactions for a while so they might be leary. I would give up Ruiz, mid level prospect, and lesser big league piece (Taylor, Huira, Houser, pen piece) for him in a heart beat. I feel like he can ve a lefty version of Woodruff if healthy.
  7. Really, that totally bums me out.
  8. I can't see us using a roster spot on any of these guys. If we're rebuilding sure take the biggest arm or toolsy-ist bat. We have better AAA arms like Hobie Harris who deserve a shot and some utility type bats like Cam Devanney who wouldn't cost anything and can stay in the organization if they need to be sent down.
  9. Agreed on Winker, I wouldnt be opposed. However he can only be a DH, which means Yeli in left 1 more year and likely trading Renfroe. In order to do that I would want a very good prospect to take the risk of downgrading from Renfroe to Winker. I would like Bryce Miller as the higher end (but not top 2) prospect.
  10. Dylan Moore and a prospect wouldn't be to bad. Moore would be a high end utility player like Peterson for a couple years. As for non high end prospect my favorite in the M's system is Prelander Berroa. Berroa is a Freddy Peralta clone, 5'11", mid 90's heater, solid slider, high strikeouts and a too many walks as a prospect.
  11. I like Walsh, I would value him more than 2022 but far less than 2021. Maybe Rowdy for Walsh and a prospect or bullpen arm. Maybe for Tyrone Taylor straight up.
  12. Teams would just give us a 2nd round value on Misi, not the value of a 6'7 190 lbs projectable arm that can hit 100. He has way way more value to us than anyone else.
  13. Renfroe to Rangers for Jose LeClerc and Emiliano Teodo would be interesting. Maybe get a few million from Tex to cover a potential buyout of LeClerc. Leclerc has less team control and is owed more but getting a better prospect like Teodo would makeup for that. Maybe add in Gustave if need be.
  14. Drury is likely more like the Pads version from last year than Reds version. For a few million a year I would go after him, but anything more than 2/8 or so I would just rather have Jace back.
  15. The Mariners just gave up Erik Swanson and a lower rated prospect for Teoscar Hernandez. Hernandez and Hunter Renfrow are extremely similar players. I would definitely trade Renfroe for a similar package, an 8th inning reliever with like 3 years of control and a projectable rising prospect.
  16. Yeah we aren't trading chourio for Murphy, so I kind of left him out. Quero could be a peice, Misi probably has very low trade value until he gets some full games in.
  17. Danny Duffy and Wade Miley would be interesting if healthy. Both would be inexpensive coming of injury and have been very good in past years. I also wouldn't mind Corey Kluber or Nick Martinez if the price is low-ish. From the article I like Ross Stripling a bunch as well.
  18. No to Longo, he would be a big downgrade from Urais. Turner is the only fa that makes a little sense at 3B, and I wouldn't pay him much more than 10 mill (which he will likely get more). I know some like Drury but I don't really see the upgrade. Any upgrade at 3rd imo come via a trade, likely for a prospect like Baty, Jung, Vargas, or Mead.
  19. To light, Kirby would be a start (I am sure the M's would put Hancock instead). Kelenic makes no sense with us having 4 high end OF prospects ready. Bryce Miller and Prelander Berreo are exciting arms in the M's system. Hancock and Harry Ford are the only high end prospects in there system and we likely wouldn't have interest in Ford.
  20. Murphy would be nice but I would think he will get a big package in return. In the neighborhood of 2 top 100 prospects and 1 or 2 other nice pieces. I personally wouldn't give up a haul of prospects for him, a package like Weimer, Turang, and Gasser seems like a lot. If we had more highly thought of prospects in A/AA ball it could make sense.
  21. I like Lux alot, however if we want a 2B from the Dodgers I would prefer Michael Busch over Lux. I would guess they would have similar value. Busch has more power and control, however you trade would be pretty solid.
  22. I know 3 team trades rarely work out but how do these sound. 1)Burnes to LAD, Andy Pagas to TBR, we get Miller, Nastini, Sheehan from LAD and Yandy Diaz and Pete Fairbanks from TBR. We get 3 guys who can have big roles this year and to quality minor league arms, Dodgers get Burnes for there 2,5, 12,22 prospects, Rays get a high end OF prospect and save some money. 2)Burnes to Sea, Oakland gets Jared Kelenic, Kyle Lewis, Keston Huira, Ethan Small, we get Sean Murphy from Oak and Emerson Hancock, and Prelander Berroa We get a stud young C and high end pitching prospect (+high potential Berroa) Mariners go all in without giving up any contributers and the A's get 2 high upside OF and 2 guys with upside a rebuilding team could use. 3) Burnes, Taylor, and Keston to CWS, Oscar Coles to KCR, we get Kopech, Andrew Vaughn, and Scott Barlow and TJ Siekemma Admittedly this is a bit of a strectch but the Sox get Burnes and two contributers for 2 young high upside guys (Vaughn blocked at 1B if they resign Abreu), the Royals turn a reliever into a high upside mlb ready prospect. We get a young #3, solid 1B, 8th inning guy, and decent pitching prospect. 4)O's get Burnes and Taylor, Marlins get Cedric Mullins, we get Edward Cabrera, Tanner Scott Jordan Westburg, and DL Hall O's don't give up a top/top prospect for Burnes, the Marlins turn pitching into hitting, we get a high end starter, 3B, 8th inning guy, and high potential arm.
  23. Not to surprising, our management will likely talk about everyone since seemingly our entire team has 2 years of control and salaries are getting borderline. I know we can't afford Devers long term but any chance we could trade for him use him for the year and let him walk (getting a pick back or trade at deadline)? I would guess we would need to give up 2 decent pieces, would Lauer, Wong, and Tyler Black get close?
  24. I want to make it clear I would not trade Devin for anything less than an overpay. I always said with Hader that even though a top closer is worth 2-3 WAR the situation and dire consequence really make their impact double in terms of importance (WAR). That being I would rather get 3 or 4 guys who can cumulatively make a bigger impact. The Dodgers definitely have a lot of upper minor players who have a high floor and a need for a big time closer.
  25. What about the idea of trading Devin Williams? It is probably to early but I would put him in the Hader boat from like 2 off-season's ago. If someone gives us a big package with like 3 really good pieces I'd send him out and try and find ways strengthen the pen. Say the Dodgers offered a package like we have been looking at for Willy Adames of Vargas, Pepiot, and a 3rd solid piece (say a reliever like Caleb Ferguson). Would we decline that? That is a likely solid starting pitcher and 1B/3B for 5-6 years and another piece that would have a good chance to contribute.
