  1. It was 3 for 3 scored this year and 7 of 10 last two years. I was ready for more of the same but he got the job done today.
  2. He does have a .356 OBP as a Brewer which is better than many. Of course that doesn't help with your issue.
  3. Too bad for the Padres. Concerns over his health probably led them to add both Snell and Darvish in the first place.
  4. Somebody warming up in the Padres bullpen, music to the Brewers ears.
  5. I always thought the cramp description was odd and even more so by today. I'm sure it would be better called a calf strain.
  6. After two years of ever increasing failure and frustration, I have jettisoned Hiura from my fantasy team. You can thank me if he takes off in the near future.
  7. I feel like it's pretty much a given. Once you have back problems it stays with you for life. Mine started at age 14. It can also be set off by anything, I once threw my back out just opening the oven door. That's ridiculous. Just because his back is tweaked doesn't mean he'll have the problem for life. I don't know that it's a given either for sure, but he has missed multiple games at least three times in his career due to his back. At the very least, it's quite concerning to be happening to a guy who is still only in his 20s.
  8. Sometimes I think Counsell plays these guys over and over again hoping that one will someday break his record for consecutive hitless ABs.
  9. Unfortunately, you are probably right. You can try to lock up guys early by buying out their arbitration years, which we don't seem to do, but doing contracts like this just might be too much for us. His contract might preclude us from any ability to lock up Woodruff or Burnes. Of course that was always going to be unlikely. I think his contract is extremely likely to become an albatross. I believe his back is going to be a chronic thing.
  10. I just see Yelich having consistent back issues from now on. He missed games in 2018 and 2019 for sure because of the back and it might not be chronic yet but as he ages.....
  11. This bullpen was still a question mark even assuming a 2020 Williams. Without him, it's bordering on a disaster.
  12. Hard to predict the Wahl and Topa injuries, followed by Williams seeming to be wrong on the mound. But that path not taken during the off-season sure looks good in hindsight right now. Wahl has been hurt a bunch and he and Topa have about 20 career innings so I would hope expectations were kept in line for them. And Williams coming off an injury should have been a concern as well.
  13. That Glasnow/Meadows trade has to be the dumbest trade of the decade. At least a very worthy candidate for the honor. I know the Tatis trade in hindsight is awful but I'd still vote for the Glasnow trade.
  14. Suter has been really good out of the pen over the past year. He definitely isn’t a “mop up” pen arm. His ERA is 4.18 (including today) out of the pen the last couple of years. Maybe not mop up, but not good. More importantly, he's allowed 7 of 10 inherited runners to score. So at the very least, how about using him to start an inning only?
  15. I thought I read that Arrieta was using a different pitch or using one a lot more and maybe that had something to do with his early success. However, his hard hit rate is almost 45% and his average exit velocity is well above his career averages so the numbers seem to indicate he's been more lucky than good.
  16. With regards to the bullpen, Lindblom doesn't belong in the majors; Rasmussen isn't ready for primetime and probably needs more work in the minors; Yardley didn't belong either, since rectified. Boxberger has been a pleasant surprise and Williams an unpleasant one thus far. At least that's how I'd sum it up.
