From what I've read in the past, there are two main versions of TOS. One is typically quite devastating and the other much less so. Hopefully in this case it's the latter but I still don't know what even that means.

Very true. Their four starters only got 73 starts I believe and probably the equivalent of 68-69 considering the buildup of Ohtani during the year. If they got anything close to 30 starts out of those four there is no way they don't win over 100.
Plus the pandemic was rearing it's head and everyone should have known that as things were already getting shut down. I thought that alone was a dumb reason to extend him when they did. And no, I'm not using hindsight either.
