  1. The guy hadn't given up an earned run in 8 appearances with the Dodgers prior to yesterday to go along with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.
  2. It was like Bradley was thinking he had to make the most epic dive ever until he realized he didn't.
  3. Bauer has easily had his lowest spin rates on his 4 seamer in his last two starts (9 runs 15 hits in 12.1 IP). I do think these pitchers are being scared straight, at least a little bit. Question is whether they are still cheating or doing so with a bit less goop. Per baseballsavant, the spin rate for Burnes on his cutter in each of his starts: Date Spin 6/12 2659 6/6 2729 5/31 2680 5/25 2803 5/19 2948 5/13 2926 4/26 2902 4/20 2854 4/14 2876 4/8 2858 4/3 2896
  4. Just that one pitch? That seems weird. What would be the other explanations for a drop in spin rate on one pitch? Mechanics? It's not just the cutter but I focused on that since he throws that pitch more than all his other pitches combined. He's recorded the three lowest spin rates this season on his changeup, curveball, cutter, and sinker in his last three starts. The same would be true for his slider if not for his start on 5/19. However, his slider spin rate in that start is well below any of his other starts that it would almost seem to be an error.
  5. Burnes's spin rates on his cutters were at a season low yesterday. They have been trending down over his last four starts, particularly the last three. Now he hasn't exactly been a bum lately, but over those four starts, his opponent batting average has been .233 versus .159 in his first 7 starts. His ERA is up from 1.79 to 2.74 as well.
  6. Even if he catches it, it’s encouraging to see Yelich hit the ball with some authority to left, and it would have gotten a run in. Agree, and not taking anything away from Yelich at all but Tom seems to make everything hit to left look like an adventure.
  7. I know Jace isn't really any good, but sometimes I don't get the vitriol that seems to always come his way. After all, he has posted an OPS+ over 100 in both 2020 and thus far in 2021.
  8. I don't know why his strikeout rate in AAA back in 2019 is just ignored. He was between 18.1% and 20.9% throughout the minors and it jumped to 26.3% in AAA. That's pretty significant and concerning and it jumped to 30.7% in the majors his rookie year and has only gotten worse. Hiura had a .558 slugging percentage in the minors and .570 in 2019. Any team will live with a healthy dose of swing and miss if that's the kind of power the player brings. His problem was the K rate went up and the slugging percentage plummeted. While true that teams will gladly put up with K rates like that when it comes with that level of slugging, I was absolutely concerned about the sudden jump in his K rate in 2019. AAA slugging was up a good 10% in 2019 due to the bogus baseball introduced that year which I think fueled some of his production at both levels (along with his babip rates). I didn't foresee the complete cratering he has endured this year but I can't say I'm completely surprised either.
  9. I'm putting the odds of Burnes being the winning pitcher at less than 50%. EDIT: That helps Tyrone.
