  1. One of my all-time favorites! He made two fans for life after spending a lengthy time talking with my young son and I down the left field line during batting practice when we watched the Crew in St. Louis many years ago. Came across as intelligent and genuinely sincere. Know his making the team is a long shot, but know he will have at least two people rooting for him. (Oops - my kid tells me it was the St. Louis trip/ not Atlanta)
  2. Agreed that: 1. The Angels seem a great fit with left field opening and not willing to pay a big contract. 2. Their prospects are not a lot to pick from. Is one of their excess starting pitchers a better match? Not sure they would do a Davis for Andrew Heaney deal. Is Shoemaker or Santiago enough for Krush? Is Tyler Skaggs coming back from Tommy John too big of a risk?
  3. Planning on going for the first time since way back when the event was held at Miller Park. Any suggestions on things that are "must do and see"? (I'll have the 18-yr old and 10-yr old with me)
  4. [sarcasm]Now that they have Rogers cleared, guess it's time to get Chris Davis signed. Hopefully Counsell is able to fill out the scorecard correctly so as not to make an error batting Chris and Kris back-to-back.[/sarcasm]
  5. Love the move (Been proposing trading for Cecchini for the last year +). Hoping he can regain the stroke he showed a couple of years ago. Know his defense at 3rd has been questioned; do people see him as a 3rd base possibility or more of a 1st base possibility?
  6. Put a claim in! Know this year was horrible for Cecchini, but I believe he still has one option yet if we wanted to send him down.
  7. LA Angels fan-site, Halos Heaven, recently did this article on David Freese entitled "David Freese and the third base abyss" http://www.halosheaven.com/2015/10/7/9465985/david-freese-and-the-third-base-abyss The part of the story that deals with the Brewers says, "Milwaukee always seems to toe the line between going for it and rebuilding. They have a fairly decent farm system but no immediate solution for third base. Freese could fill the void for a few years and they've shown before they won't shy away from signing an older third baseman (Aramis Ramirez). Assuming the Angels do not make him a qualifying offer, Freese could be on the table for the Brewers." I would prefer for the Angels to buy into Freese's "clutchness" and re-sign him, thus leaving young 3rd basemen Kubitza or Cowart available in a trade for Milwaukee.
  8. BA "Starting up the lawnmower on the way out!" Almost Matt Vasgersian worthy
  9. I couldn't have said this any better. Wish Carlos nothing but the best of luck with the Astros.
  10. As a HUGE Gomez fan, I agonize, but understand this trade. Struggle with this though... OF Logan Schafer (recalled) and INF/OF Elian Herrera (selected) will join the team from Triple-A @skysox tomorrow.
  11. It's quotes like this on the Astros message board that makes me smile. "Terrible. I've agreed with everything that Luhnow has done till now. I am so P.O ed right now."
  12. Stayed away from posting in last night's thread...How can I stay away again
  13. With Freese now out for 3 weeks with fractured index finger, does Aramis Ramirez fit into the Angels need for a "middle of the order guy" to follow Trout & Pujols? Kaleb Cowart (3B) continues to tear up AAA Salt Lake. avg = .333, obp = .411, slg = .532
  14. With winning 8 of their last 10, Angels are now within 1.5 games of Houston and also lead the Wild Card. All of this with the following numbers from a couple of spots... LF Matt Joyce avg/obp/ops = .195/.287/.613 C Chris Iannetta = .194/.311/.608 Do the Angels have enough for a Parra + Lucroy blockbuster? Assuming Heaney would be a tough get with the numbers he is putting up in the MLB rotation, but could something be built around #2 prospect Sean Newcomb (moved up to #37 on Baseball America midseason top 50)?
  15. How about targeting 3B Kaleb Cowart as a possibility. Switch hitter that has had plenty of ups and downs in the Angels system. From one of their top prospect, to a couple of down years at the AA level, to being sent to A-ball to start this year with newly acquire Kyle Kubitza blocking him. Cowart was recently moved to AAA (with Kubitza call to the majors) and he has responded with a hot first week in Salt Lake City to the tune of .370 OBP and slugging .760. Has the demotion to A-ball lit a fire under him? Is Lind (to play DH) or Parra (to play LF) worth a chance to see if he has figured it out?
  16. A Garza for Cecchini proposal from this writer. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2471641-3-potential-deals-the-boston-red-sox-should-propose-at-the-trade-deadline Cecchini has been BAD this year at Pawtucket BA = .203 OBP = .269 SLG = .276, but is shedding Garza's contract & hoping Cecchini can remember his on-base skills enough?
  17. An email to my ticket agent gave the same answer...try the Sausage T-Shirts from last year. That's my plan as of now, but may look a little more for the jersey. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
  18. Would need a Medium. Good thought about the bobble head; if the jersey/shirt doesn't pan out, I may go that direction.
  19. Ok, strange request but knew this community would be the place to ask. Here's the back story... In the end of March, my son came to me and asked if the German foreign exchange student in our school district could move from his current host family to live with us for the remainder of his time in the U.S. due to some problems that were happening in the home. We agreed and have enjoyed having him with us and have brought him along to 3 games so far this season. I remember the game in 2011 when the Brewers donned German jerseys for a game with "Bierbrauer" across the front. I would love to get this for a present for the student before he has to return home. I've done a quick check on the internet and found nothing available. Anyone here have an idea of where I could get one?
  20. We've had a 20-pack in Club Infield for the last 10 years or so and don't know if we would ever choose to sit anywhere else. The smaller sections/rows is the biggest benefit. Also, as my daughter has grown (she is now 9), the Club has been wonderful. On hot days, she has been able to sit in the air conditioning for an inning to "recharge" before coming back to the seats. When she gets bored with the game, we can sit in a comfy seat and still see the game on tv.
  21. Never mind. Red Sox trade for Sandy Leon from the Nationals. Leon sounds like a defense-only backup.
  22. What about a deal centered around Cecchini for Maldonado (possible others involved from both sides)? With the news of Christian Vazquez's MRI showing "something" with his right elbow, will the Red Sox be looking for catching help? 1. Article came out this week stating that the Brewers like what they see from new catcher Juan Centeno. “He’s improving all the time from what we’ve seen,” said Roenicke. “When he first came here, he maybe wasn’t comfortable. It’s hard when you change teams, and he’s trying to impress. He’s a nice player; will be a nice backup for us.” 2. Red Sox may want to buy some time before calling up Blake Swihart to take over catching position.
  23. I'm still intrigued by a healthy Lind and think his average and OBP would fit well in the 2-spot (against RH at least) vs. RH Pitcher Gomez Lind Braun Ramirez (reluctantly) Lucroy Davis Gennett Segura vs. LH Pitcher Gomez Lucroy Braun Ramirez Davis Gennett Maldonado/Jimenez Segura
  24. I agree that Cecchini should be a target (even if management is high on Jimenez as a possible 3B answer). Does a trade from our strength make sense? MI (Sardinas) & RP (Kintzler/Broxton/Wooten) enough? Too much? I know Boston has some middle infield strength already (Pedroia, Bogaerts, Marrero, Moncada) but could one of those or Sardinas be used in future deal for Boston to get Hamels?
  25. Time to get on the phone and see what Garin Cecchini will cost to acquire. With Sandoval blocking him now and Moncada blocking him in the future, make Cecchini your long-term answer at 3rd base.
