  1. I know it's a couple of pages back, but I think JohnBriggs may be on to something. With Mike Moustakas coming through the Royals system at 3rd base, I wonder if a player like Cain would mean a whole lot more to KC than someone like Gamel. Would Lawrie + Jeffress + Cain be enough to get a deal done?
  2. I don't know Gamel's makeup at all (maybe he's cocky/confident enough not to care), but... if he is the one moved to first and struggles will the fan base come down even harder on him as they unfairly compare him to the departed Prince? I just feel it may be easier on him if he is not thrust into a battle to "live up to Prince" in the fans' eyes. Hart and/or McGehee, as established players may be able to measure up better in some people's expectations.
  3. Hawing Some of us are interested. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I admit I was dissappointed when I saw there was no mention of the media guide this year, but realized quite quickly that you would miss it even more than I would.
  4. 1. Gallardo 2. Wolf 3. McGehee 4. Selig 5. Cirillo 6. Pat Listach - One in his uniform as the new Brewers' manager and alternate in his rookie of the year jersey. Although maybe they would wait a year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the award.
  5. Wolf was great. Cain was great. Defense reminded me why I want to see an outfield with both Cain and Dickerson/Gomez platoon next year. (slowly believing that should no longer be in blue) My son and I sat in 1st row above Brewer bullpen today, so we had a "great" view of Braun's (mis) plays in the 9th along with Trevor warming up. Cardinal fans all around us were on Trevor pretty hard, but the two of us matched their hollers on strike three. Fans were real good to us today. Alot of good baseball talk and a couple "Have a safe trip home" after the game was over. My 12-year-old even scored the ball Axford warmed up with from M. Hanel and was nice enough to give it to the Card's fan next to us for his grandson. I've got a good kid http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. I have never joined in on the "classy fan" debate, but now I must. During the t-shirt toss early in the game, a fan sitting directly in front of my daughter caught a shirt from the Cardinals mascot. The guy (30 - 35 yrs old) turned around to my daughter and said to her "Do you want it?" as he held the shirt out. My daughter started to reach for it and the guy pulled it back and said "Just kidding" My four-year-old cried on my wife's lap for the next half inning. He did turn around later and say "I didn't think she would want it since you are Brewer fans." Guess 4-year-olds here are much more mature and bred to root for only their team at a much younger age. The same guy turned to give me a high five following Axford's wild pitch in the 8th; I declined. With two outs in the ninth, my wife said loud enough..."One more out and we'll high five." On the last out, the guy left immediately, not even realizing that I was standing there with my arm extended for him.
  7. Did the STL fans actually participate in a wave earlier tonight? And would that mean the wave became classy? Yes they did and it lasted waaaay too long. Must have went around 6 times. Knew it was too long when even my 4-yr-old got tired of it.
  8. We've checked in to our hotel here in St. Louis - right across the street from Busch (thanks to our ticket rep for the great idea of a place to stay). My son was excited when we pulled in and Gallardo and Loe were sitting outside the hotel waiting for a golf cart to take them across the street He's headed down stairs now to see if he can get any pictures/autographs or if everyone has already made their way to the stadium. I'll try to post pictures if when end up with decent ones.
  9. How about Ryne Sandberg after the Cubs bypass him later this fall? What better way to stick it to the Cubbies? Beat them with one of their all-time greats at the helm. (I'm sure he will have a chip on his shoulder.)
  10. No such luck with the Brandon Phillips jersey. I would normally put the chances that my 12-year-old would be in a "Braun" shirt of some type at about 99%, but... at Sunday's game, he used money from his upcoming birthday to purchase a Rick Peterson game-used uniform. I know he is hoping St. Louis will offer an opportunity to get some autographs on the uniform, so not sure if he will be wearing or carrying it. (Before you ask, no - the pants don't fit him at all but the jersey is big enough that he wouldn't need to be wearing pants http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ) Hawing - we have been pretty lucky getting on the scoreboard this season. Never underestimate the ability of a 4-year-old blond girl who is willing to dance, scream and yell when she knows where the camera is. Think she has been on the scoreboard in each of the last 5+ games she's attended. Starting to worry because now she "expects" to get on each game. Funny, when we attend games with other adults instead of the kids we don't seem to get on. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. We'll be in St. Louis for the games next week as well. With the 4 & 12-year-old with us...better chance of us attending the Magic House and Zoo rather than a brewery tour. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Decided to go all out on the tickets for Tuesday night. Few rows from the Brewer dugout. On Wednesday afternoon, my son and I are in the first row above the Brewers bullpen.
  12. If that ball gets by Gomez...with Diego "running" it down from right... Morgan has a triple or maybe all the way around. Great catch
  13. Hawing We'll keep a look out for the Sharpie jersey. Here's to a night where no mid-inning "walks" are needed by either of us.
  14. Congrats..we'll will be in attendance and will cheer a little louder than normal. (I'm sure my 12 year old will be extremely jealous - as will his dad http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )
  15. Hawing As I watched the 10-run inning, I was hoping you were in attendance for the Sunday game. I would have hated for Saturday's showing to be your final thought of the Washington experience. (Maybe I feel that same way for any of us that watched the series)
  16. Obviously the greatest ever was Jeter's dive into the stands on July 1, 2004. The Yankees and ESPN said so. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=2685729 Who cares if this guy actually wants to use some logic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://baseballevolution.com/asher/jeterdive.html
  17. Random thoughts after returning home from the game... The weather was unbelievable for an Opening Day. I've expected Gomez to be enertaining this year, but today was even more than I hoped. Besides hitting well, his throw from center to first to try to double off a runner (just a little off line) was impressive. Only bad part of the great day today is realizing that he will probably have an equally poor day some day soon. Enjoyed the irony of the Gomez HR followed by Braun's bunt single. Suppan was definitely boo'ed during intros. My wife turned to me and said "Don't think those are Sooooups" I agree with Hawing...it's going to be a challenge for me to cheer for Edmonds (even though he did hit the ball hard in the last at bat)
  18. Hawing The mystery lineup in the latter innings also included Turnbow on the mound facing the Phillies on the visitors side. Guessing the stadium crew will be putting in long hours tonight and tomorrow to make sure everything is ready for Monday (he says with fingers crossed)
  19. A lot of fun at the park today. My son got on the video screen and also scored a ball from Escobar (the line drive he caught as the 3rd out of an early inning). As we moved to start the ninth, I asked the friend we went with "Is this a sign of what this year will be like? I don't know if I'll be able to take it." Following Corey scoring the winner, he finally responded, "Yeah, all year long will be just like this." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Great to see everyone last night. Good conversations and a nice venue where we could take over a room for ourselves. Makes it even tougher waiting for games to get started next week.
  21. Rosenthal's latest makes it sound like the Brewers actually considered a deal. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/MLB-webb-surgery-leaves-dbacks-short-on-the-mound-032610 "The Brewers considered Jeff Suppan-for-Snyder, but did not want to take on Snyder’s money for 2011. Suppan, 35, is earning $12.5 million this season in the final year of his contract. His ERA last season was 5.29. This spring, it’s 7.71. The Brewers, however, do not expect to release him, a source said."
  22. With the long drive...my wife and I are making a night of it and staying in Milwaukee for the night. Bar time would be a stretch for us too Hawing, but we are planning on staying for awhile.
  23. Hawing Tough loss for Coach Keen and the Cheese. Thought the run in the 4th quarter was going to be enough to pull them through. It was strange not being in attendance...think the first one I've missed in 16 years.
  24. We've figured out someone to leave the kids with, so plan on us for two. Looking forward to it.
  25. My basketball game is over too. Time for first ever appearance in chat room.
