  1. I've never smoked one, but I've grilled a turkey for the past few years. Always turns out pretty amazing. I agree with the brining, really helps to keep the turkey moist. I have a recipe or two if you're interested. PM me.
  2. Only 3 bobbleheads!! Finally!! Hopefully they stick with this. People like them, but only a couple a year. Nobody needs bobbleheads of guys like Randy Wolf. Hopefully with only 3, they improve the quality a bit. Many of the promotions are for the first 20K fans, that's certainly a change too.
  3. They may not be good. But there is almost zero chance (barring more major injuries) that they are the worst team in the league. There will be nights when the outside shots fall and the everything clicks for Giannis and Parker. Doubt they make the playoffs, but they should easily win 25-30 games I think. They're going to have to hit on draft picks and so far...the jury is out on that. Be nice if they could even get Maker a few minutes here or there.
  4. It happened last night in the Dodgers/Nats game. Werth was out at the plate by at least 30 feet. He was one step around third when the relay man got the ball.
  5. Discussed this with some friends over the weekend...do you think the Cable/Satellite providers will ever just let you pick the stations you want and pay for just those? A LOT of the cost associated with them come from the fees associated with channels that are included within the base packages - even if you don't want them. DTV has hundreds of channels...I probably watch 30 of them. Think about how much less my bill would be if I could pay for just those and not get sucked into all the fees. I'm sure it's a pipe dream, but it would make everything so much easier by not getting forced into their prebuilt channel packages and fees.
  6. The one big positive I took out of it was that there will be 33% more places to purchase, as well as a couple of hundred more workers to hopefully create much shorter lines. Most games this year it wasn't a problem, but for the few times they had a sellout, lines were ridiculous.
  7. Football at Miller Park would be pretty cool - I'd assume they've at least explored the option if that is really their goal. No sense moving walls around and upping the heat unless they think they'd be able to secure a bowl game of some kind. I think it would be cool, I'd probably go check it out just to see it, regardless of who is playing. It would seem highly unlikely it's for basketball - they'd never be able to compete with the Bucks new arena for those things.
  8. A lot of it could also hinge on the Dodgers post season performance. If Puig tears it up and they win a WS...they may feel they don't need to go out and get someone like Braun. if they really struggle and get bounced early, then maybe they want him more. Just have to let it play out. Hopefully the Brewers do the right thing and don't move him just for the sake of making the trade. We can certainly afford Braun and if he keeps playing like he has, he'll hold value as his deal nears a completion.
  9. Not only are there no opt outs, but he could have gotten another 6-8 million potentially if he had waited a bit, so it saves the team a bit of money in that regard as well. They tried to give Monroe away for almost nothing but nobody wanted him - which is odd considering 4 teams offered him a max deal last year and he played relatively well, he just doesn't fit in here. Hopefully they can figure out a way to make it work in some capacity this year. He has a big player option for next season too, so we need to figure out something.
  10. Yea, that's smart on their part. I've been saying for years it's not the length of games that's the biggest problem, it's end times during the week. I'm sure they're just testing it, but hopefully they move up Wed/Thurs games too- especially in April, May, Sept (school months.) I'm a huge fan of starting games earlier. Start the games at a decent hour.....around 6 to 6:30 during the week. Do it for every night game. Why not?. Well one of the main reasons is that a lot of people work until 5:00. Starting a game early makes it very difficult for people to make it for the start of the game. Assuming I don't want to burn vacation time to leave work early...If I work until 5:00 in say Waukesha, Have to find time to change, then fight rush hour traffic (with construction), park and walk into the game, that's pretty difficult to do in that sort of timeframe. For some people that won't matter, but for others, likely missing an inning or two of the game purely due to an earlier start time might be a deterrent to attending or buying tickets. And that's assuming people end at 5:00 and don't get stuck working late or anything like that. It's fine 1-2 nights a week, but there are definitely reasons for starting the games later.
  11. I'd also like to say thanks to everyone that's been involved in the link reports for the past 15-16 seasons. When I was in college, I used to work in the campus computer lab on the early morning shift 7-10 every day during summer session. As you would imagine with college kids, there was almost nobody ever there that early, especially in the summer. This left me with a TON of time to sit at a computer with virtually nothing to do. It was at this time that I somehow or other stumbled upon a website called Brewerfan.com (this seems like a lifetime ago btw). From that day forward, one of the very first things I did every day was come to the link report to see how Prince Fielder (he was in Beloit at the time) and others had done the day before. It became a daily routine...that's stayed with me ever since. It was fun to look at the box scores, read the articles, and now watch some highlights. Amazing to think how far it's come since those college days. For those of you that have contributed or covered a team at any point in the past, I can only imagine the amount of time and energy it takes (especially in the early days), to find the boxes, post everything, talk to the announcers, etc. I'm sure there were many days when finding the time to do all of that was daunting. And I'm guessing in the early days, there was probably some doubt if anyone was actually even looking at all of the work you were doing. I apologize for not saying it then and for not saying it more often as the years have gone by, but all of you do an amazing job covering each and every team, the words "thank you" aren't nearly enough. But a huge THANK YOU to everyone that's been part of the link report. Thank you for getting a college kid into minor league baseball all those years ago. Thank you for becoming an enjoyable part of my daily routine. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication!!! Hopefully it won't take me 15 years to say it again, but just in case, thank you for all of the work everyone will do in the future as well!!
  12. There are TONS of places to park around there. All the local business will sell spots, all the houses sell spots in their yard, or if you get there early enough, there is street parking on most roads in the neighborhoods around Lambeau - all of these spots are within about a 1/2 mile of the stadium. Typically most places will charge somewhere in the $20 range. Might be able to find cheaper, but you'd be walking quite a ways. As far as exits goes, they are all pretty clearly marked, but just about any of them will do. If there's a lot of traffic, you can go past the first exit (which I think is Lombardi??) and take the next one, which allows you to come in from behind the stadium. Tip for driving home if you're heading south...take I-43. It takes a bit to get over there, but there's usually quite a bit less traffic. Related...anyone have any extra seats they want to sell me?
  13. Seeing how we're not in contention, I'm sure they're going to let all the guys finish their respective minor league seasons unless there is an injury at the MLB level. So I doubt we'll see anything done until Monday or Tuesday. Different regime in place now, but in years past, the Brewers have typically only called up 3-4 guys in this scenario.
  14. They could find a lot more PT for people if they stopped wasting it on Kirk Nieuwenhuis....
  15. As an FYI, they come in smediums and XL's only at the fan giveaways Well in that case, I certainly need an XL...anyone?
  16. Anyone have an extra MKE Home shirt that was given away this past Friday? Looking for a large - could meet in the Milwaukee area or pay for shipping. Let me know, thanks.
  17. Some of the events really started that late, which I found odd. Some of those beach volleyball matches started after midnight Rio time. One huge complaint I have though is that NBC took a lot of the better stuff and tape delayed it, which was absolutely unnecessary with the slight time change. I know they wanted to put the best stuff in prime time, but there was no reason to not show everything live with just a 2 hour difference. It's almost impossible to make it through a day without seeing stuff - like the women's gymnastics. My wife really wanted to see that, knew it was on at night...opened up Yahoo to check her email and she saw the results, in the middle of the afternoon. She was not pleased.
  18. I can see us keeping him through September, but as others have said, I don't think he gets to do much other than PH. Where is he going to play? Arcia and Villar are going to be virtually every day, when one gets the day off, they would likely rather put Perez at 3b than Middlebrooks. Maybe if he can play first, they'd give him a start or two, but I just don't see much time coming his way.
  19. I've done it multiple years, simply calling to tell them it was too expensive and I couldn't afford Sunday Ticket and they've always worked with me. I haven't yet tried it this year, so that's disappointing if they've wised up on that. I didn't always get it free, but I always got at least 1/2 off or a year long $30 discount or something. I'd love to get their internet too, but they keep telling me it's not available in my area, which is maddening considering I live in the city of Waukesha, not out in the boonies somewhere.
  20. I'd honestly rather do it at home. Some of the guys essentially want to do an online draft at the bar...bring our laptops and whatnot and just draft at the bar. I hadn't thought about noise. I'll have to think about it. I was told BW3's used to do some cool promos for drafts but it doesn't appear that they do all that much any more. Not many places do I guess unless i'm missing some...anyone?
  21. Anyone have any good recommendations in the area for a football draft?? I know some bars run promotions for draft parties and such. We normally do it at home but a few guys suggested doing it elsewhere. Thoughts?
  22. I hope they keep bobbleheads...but only a couple a year. Make them higher quality and make them cooler. If they're only doing 2-3 a year, they should be able to make them look nicer and also not have to make them so lame (I'm looking at you Jeff Suppan and Jason Kendall bobbleheads). I am all for other stuff too - I do hope they go away from only doing the all fan giveaways on Sundays. It's my least favorite day to go typically but I don't have a choice as they do so much stuff then.
  23. I see deals like the ones for Miller, Melancon and Chapman and I wonder what the heck are we waiting for??? We have at least three high quality relief pitchers that have to have ridiculous value. Two...seems like the return for Miller is almost better than Lucroy...how is that possible?? Unless that fourth player is McKenzie (which I'm highly doubting).
  24. I'd think if he did in fact block the trade, that would leak out relatively fast.
  25. It was hard to tell with that awful camera angle but I didn't see him either.
