  1. Anthony Davis was the consensus best player in the country that year. His stock had nowhere to go but down. Dekker isn't exactly in that boat. If I was him, I'd go pro, it's an incredible amount of guaranteed money to give up if you're going to go in the first round. That said, having watched Dekker and the NBA a lot in the last few years - to me (and I'm not a scout or anything) but Dekker has a TON he can improve on to be ready for the NBA. For starters, he could improve his jump shot tremendously. He could improve his defense. He could also show an ability to score more - he's only averaging 13 PPG this year. He could very well be THE man on the roster next year. If he were to show improved jump shot, and more ability to take over a game, I think he could easily move into the lottery next year. Yes, he can practice with an NBA team, but is that really better than playing actual games against top-level college competition. Maybe. Hard to say without going through it. I also think another year in college can make his NBA career longer. Guys that come out early get drafted, but many, many of them are out of the NBA without ever really doing anything (see Joe Alexander for example). Coming into the league a more developed player (in theory) could result in more PT early, which can lead to better things down the road. No guarantees either way, but to me, he's far from a finished product and another year in Bo's system (not to mention graduating) would seem beneficial to him. That said, if I'd leave if I were him just purely from a financial standpoint.
  2. It'll be an odd year. Normally with Bo, we tend to have guys waiting in the wings to fill the starter spots that are open and freshman rarely make an immediate impact (some have, but not many and very few started). But next year we theoretically could see 2 true freshman (Stone and Pritzl) and a redshirt freshman (Happ) starting. Sure, maybe guys like Brown and Dearing step up, but it seems like big leap for them based on what I've seen out of them so far (albeit very limited minutes for the most part). This all assumes that they get Stone, without him, they're going to be pretty small and may struggle some. I tend to think Stone is coming, but just can't know for sure (my guess is he announces it at the state tournament). I also think Dekker is leaving, as every mock draft I see has him in the first round - not lottery but first round is a few million guaranteed. I think it's a mistake but I think he leaves.
  3. I think you guys are slightly over-estimating the Badgers roster next year. All signs to me seem to indicate Dekker will be leaving (though personally I think that's a mistake). That means we're losing 4 of our top 8 players. Sure, Koening is ready to replace Jackson, but otherwise we're looking at replacing a potential POY candidate in Kaminsky, a three year starter and potential NBA pick in Dekker, plus Jackson and Dukan. Even if we get Stone, we're relying on a TON of unproven talent, many of which have never played a college game (Stone, Pritzl, Happ) or the ones that have haven't made any real contributions (Brown, Dearing, Hill). Sure, they could pan out...but they may not. It's a lot to expect a bunch of unproven players to immediately gel with Hayes and Koening. They could, and if they all pan out the way we're hoping, they could be a very good team, but to assume we are a B10 favorite and Final Four contender seems a bit far fetched at this time. There very well could be some growing pains or some of the guys might not live up to the hype.
  4. George Karl was the reason Allen got traded. Just incredibly stupid. Coach and star player (who loved Milwaukee) don't get along, so what do we do? Get rid of an all-star before he even reaches his prime.
  5. You wonder if at some point during spring they will add Krod or Soriano into the mix. The longer those guys go without jobs, the cheaper and cheaper they'd become - I would think at least.
  6. They should have a one seed already over Gonzaga. I find it pretty ridiculous that brackets predict them as a 1 and WI a 2. The overall profiles at this time are drastically skewed in the Badgers favor. It would be one thing if they were undefeated, but they aren't. Per ESPN: RPI - Wisconsin 6, Gonzaga 8 SOS - Wisconsin 32, Gonzaga 80 Top 50 wins - WI 6, Gonzaga 4 Top 100 wins - Wisconsin 11, Gonzaga 7 Sub 150 RPI wins - Wisconsin 6 (2 of which are Northwestern at 156), Gonzaga 10 (with 3 more on the schedule) So higher RPI, SOS, more top 100 wins, less sub 150 wins. Each lost to a top 10 team. Yes, we lost to Rutgers (without Kaminsky) but Rutgers is 117 in the RPI, so that's not a horrible loss, it's not good, but it's not an absolute killer either. The rest of their profile should be enough to be ranked higher by "bracket experts". To answer your question though, yes, if the Badgers lost just one more game and don't lose to someone horrible in the first round of the B10 tournament, they should 100% be a 1 seed. The gap in profiles should continue to widen significantly as our SOS and RPI should actually improve in the next few weeks as all 7 games we have left are against RPI top 100 teams (including Maryland at 14), while Gonzaga's should continue to fall - they have 2 games left against RPI top 65 teams, but also 3 games against teams RPI 175 or worse (2 worse than 230). If we finish 6-1 (This would include at least beating one of Maryland/OSU on the road, or both), that puts us at 28-3, with 17 top 100 wins (at least with current RPI rankings)....compared to a max of 9 for Gonzaga. Our SOS would likely be inside the top 25 (compared to probably 90-100 for Gonzaga). It's not their fault their conference sucks, but when looking at the overall profiles, it's pretty noticeable. I don't think there is much doubt that if the Badgers played in that conference, they'd roll through it undefeated too.
  7. I'd imagine we wind up resigning KRod then. Nobody is beating down his door and he seems to like it here. I'd definitely not give him two years unless it's some sort of vesting option with a high number of games finished or something.
  8. Seems like you guys are right. Apparently we offered Broxton to offset the cost...not sure how that would have really helped. Oh well.
  9. What are you guys basing this not happening on? Did I miss comments or rumors about it somewhere? Maybe it won't happen but I think Philly is going to eventually fold or we increase our offer very slightly. We don't NEED him and they seem to really want to move him. We've made our offer it seems, we're the only team interested...if they want to move him that badly, they'll come back to us sooner or later. The only wildcard for me would be if the Brewers are waiting to see what happens with Moncada, if the money goes there, we may not have any left for Papelbon. Sounds like that situation may take another week or two yet to sort itself out.
  10. Heck of a finish tonight. Bucks hit three 3's in the last minute (including one by Mayo to tie with .5 left). Then proceeded to win in OT. Bucks really looked flat and still managed to pull one out, albeit against a really bad Lakers team. Rebounding was yet again a huge issue, as LA just killed them on the offensive glass. But wins are wins. Fun game to watch for sure.
  11. While I'm definitely counting down the days until Opening Day...I'm glad college basketball is hitting its peak season. Especially with the Badgers having a real chance this year.
  12. Agree 100%. Not just with the shirts, but with virtually every giveaway item they have.
  13. They definitely went way cheaper than previous years. The shirts they used to give out in the bleachers are Friday night were actual nice tshirts. I still have and wear a couple of them almost 10 years later. Same thing happened with the bobbleheads IMO, the first couple years when there were just a couple were really nice - looked great, high quality, heavier...and they've digressed into very poorly made little guys - a couple I got last year would barely even qualify as bobbling.
  14. The crowd WAS very big into Reigns over the summer, but he's lost a lot of steam since then. He got hurt and missed time, he's done some very, very bad mic work and Daniel Bryan has returned. It's not that Reigns is bad, but more than fans don't like it when someone gets shoved down their throat, which is very clearly being done by the WWE. I think fans are fine with Reigns, but to push him to the main event at WM at this point seems very premature IMO. But the crowd was pretty much going to boo anyone not named Bryan winning last night - just like last year. The WWE is seemingly failing to listen to the fans and clearly didn't learn anything from last year. Not that Bryan had to win persay, but he definitely should have been in it until the very end. But having your most popular superstar enter the RR at 10 and lasting only a few minutes (Jack Swagger was in long for crying out loud) is pretty stupid. This article sums it up pretty well too: http://www.sbnation.com/wrestling/2015/1/26/7902259/roman-reigns-wwe-royal-rumble-john-cena-daniel-bryan-wrestlemania
  15. The shirts won't matter unless you never plan to wear them or they actually get not super, super cheap shirts. Went through my closet last night to get rid of some clothes. Found 2 of them from last year, worn at most, 1 time. Got washed and shrunk at least a full size if not more. Both were XL and now fit me like a medium at best. They'll be at Goodwill tomorrow. I understand they have to go cheap when giving out 40k, but they've become virtually useless for me after the initial wearing.
  16. All in all, it was a very, very mediocre PPV. I'd rate it a C, and that's only because the triple threat match was spectacular. The RR itself was pretty boring and quite frankly sucked. A lot of it was booking, a lot of it was the fact that hardly any of the big superstars were even in it. Cena and Rollins could have been but weren't. Others like Orton, Shaemus, etc weren't available I guess. The bookings of Bryant, Ambrose and Ziggler were horrible too. All of them were basically an afterthought and the crowd lost everything and turned when DB got tossed. I still can't figure that decision out.
  17. Some of those trades definitely weren't good, but I don't know anyone could look at the Sabathia trade as bad simply because we "didn't win anything". Brantley turned out to be good eventually, but LaPorta was a complete bust. Beyond that, we don't make the playoffs without CC on the mound. I don't think there's much debate about that. Sure, we lost in the first round, but for anyone born after 1982, it was the first time the Brewers had EVER made the playoffs and we don't make it without CC putting us on his back. If that's not "winning" a trade, I'm not sure what is. Very, very few trades actually directly lead a team to a WS title. I don't know any of these guys we got, but the pitchers at least seem intriguing. I think that's a good trade for Gallardo - who hasn't been that great and likely wouldn't have been back next year anyways.
  18. I would tend to agree, but each player is different. It was clear from early on that Prince wasn't staying longer than he had to. Greinke may have considered it, but the money was just too much. Zimmerman could be different, the thought of playing at home could be appealing (no idea obviously), we'd have money to spend and he's not at the elite level that Prince and Greinke were. He's very good, but he's not a top 5 player at his position IMO. He's quite good, but I don't think he'll get Scherzer or Kershaw type money. And, he doesn't have Boras, so there's a chance. I still think it would be a huge risk to give up a lot for him unless we're pretty certain we can retain him.
  19. Assuming Washington does in fact move a starter, what would it take to get Zimmerman? I'm assuming quite a bit more than we get back for Gallardo. If we're giving up a lot, we're taking a big, big risk that his WI ties would make him want to resign with us.
  20. Figured I would resurrect this thread. Been awhile and there's gotta be some new input by now. I've tried a few other places recently. Neighbors in Waukesha - decent wings, good size and sauces - a little too much sauce for my liking but they were good. Grilled, which I prefer. Natty Oaks - Had never even heard of this place until they sponsored a fall softball team for me. A little small, but surprisingly good wings. Lots of flavors (the sweet and sour was quite different). Favorite was probably the Buffalo Ranch. I'd recommend. Sand Bar (Pewaukee) - also grilled, pretty spicy. Liked them. Plus you can sit outside by the water in the summer. Anyone else found any hidden gems around the Milwaukee area?
  21. Looking to sell a Weeks autographed bat. I received it as part of a charity promotion thing in the Gehl Club a few years back. Tickets to the game and the bat and most of the money went to charity. It's not a big stick, it's an actual bat with this name engraved on it. Ash bat, black signature. I'm an idiot and can't get the picture to work, but I'd be happy to email to anyone that wants to see it. I have no idea what it's worth so I'm going to ask $50, but if that's out of line, certainly feel free to make me an offer. I'd really rather not ship it but would be willing to meet anywhere in the Milwaukee area (I'm in Waukesha). Thanks. PM me with questions or for a picture.
  22. The heel turn was quite obvious I thought. I'm just sick of the Authority stuff. It's not that I hate them, I just feel that it's boring and it's gone on long enough. It's basically been the same crap for over a year now. It's boring. The rest of it was OK. Glad to see Ziggler get some gold again - guy is fantastic but just can't get the push again. Lesnar just flat out dominated Cena. I found that odd. I thought he'd win but he just pummeled him (my memory could be wrong but didn't Cena beat Lesnar in a no DQ match last year??). Now he can't even give him a match? Seemed on. Not sure what the plan is for either. I'd heard Bryan vs Lesnar, but you can never really tell what they are doing. The most obvious to me would have been Roman Reigns....but he lost to Orton so....
  23. Over/Under on the number of "um" uttered during the broadcast Let's see, an entire, um, 9 innings of Davey Nelson. I think a fair over/under line is about 1.2 million. I'll take the over. Seriously though, why do they have to use him? BA can't just do a game alone? Or put Craig Cushon up there? I know that's two PBP guys, but still, Nelson is just brutal. Heck, we're close enough to Chicago, can't Counsell come down for a day or two to fill in???
  24. The late inning rallies by the Cardinals (especially tonight since both runs came with a bunch of two out, two strike hits) are getting really frustrating. Hopefully it's just a fluke and not a sign of the lucky RISP hits they had last year. And there it is. Game over. So annoying.
  25. So realistically then...what would it take to actually get him?
