  1. The Brewers have by no means locked up anything in the division. We've won a lot of game, but our lead really hasn't grown. The Cardinals have been playing just as well, the injuries might hurt them, but we'll see. We only have a 5.5 game lead, not 20. To say it's over now is just silly. Looking ahead at the schedule, we have a brutal August, so hopefully we can build up a large lead before then. Still have I think 10 head to head with the Cardinals as well, so they most certainly can catch us and I'm still worried about them a great deal. Let's also not forget that the Pirates and Reds have begun playing a lot better and while they are close to 10 games back, if they get really hot and we slump, they could easily catch us too.
  2. If this really does take Embiid off the Bucks board, that leaves us with Wiggins or Parker. Which is what I wanted all along. I really like Wiggins but now I think Cleveland will almost certainly draft him.
  3. Emphasis on "you" -- if they opt to do it, dadgummit, they've earned the right through decades of classiness! Yeah...Pujols stared down every ball he ever hit that even made the warning track...yet that was ok. Apparently if you're good and a Cardinal, it's ok to do whatever you want and have some fun. But not anyone else, ever.
  4. I think the managers get one automatically if warnings have been issued - which they weren't in this case. So it's up to MLB's discretion, but based on his reaction and quotes, I'm sure he'll get at least one game.
  5. Yeah, that was ridiculous. I'm not sure it was a strike, but that's definitely showing up the umpire. Also, I want to see the angle that clearly showed Gomez was out within about 45 seconds. The angle we saw sure seemed to show he was safe, and definitely not inconclusive that he was out, yet they reversed it in less than a minute?
  6. Alright, well just get through Tuffy now...(sounds funny huh). This has gotta be Yo's last hitter....and an out!!
  7. Sure would be nice to see Yo get through this inning but I think I'd yank him at the first sign of trouble.
  8. How hard is it to turn a double play? That's 3 that we've essentially botched in the last two games. This one might have been close, but I think they still could have turned it.
  9. And a pop-up falls into the Bermuda triangle for a run!! Overbay and Herrera with RBI hits. Go figure.
  10. Skunk out of the box!!! Ha, and nice baserunning by Overbay. For those not watching, grounder up the middle with the shift on and nobody covered second base, so Lyle just simply took it. Get scored as a double too on a grounder to CF!
  11. Maybe it's just me, but the Brewers are getting a LOT of pitches to hit and just seem to be popping them up or just missing them. Getting a lot of fastballs up in the zone. Not sure if it's late movement or if they're just not hitting them. Need to figure something out though. Hitless through four innings, ugh.
  12. Why not send Davis there on 3-1? Sure seemed like an ideal spot to do it?
  13. I understand that guys need time off, but do they have to be on the same day? Couldn't Braun have gotten off last night and then Lucroy today? Taking both bats out of the lineup at the same time (even with a slumping Braun) is pretty silly. Especially when the only other OF is Herrera.
  14. Really Ron? Braun and Lucroy both need to have off on the same day? I'm fine with days off, but both of them together?
  15. I can't figure out why Fiers is on the roster. He goes from starting (and starting well in AAA) to sitting in our bullpen doing basically nothing - he's only pitched 2 innings since he got up here. What's the point? If he's not going to be in the rotation or at least get regular work, why bother? Why not keep him stretched out in AAA in case we actually need a starter (I know Nelson is there too). There's just no need for Fiers in MLB right now doing nothing. That roster spot could be better served by virtually anyone on offense. The bench is paper thin right now. One C, one 1b, one 2b and one guy covering basically every other position. The current roster makeup just makes no sense to me whatsoever. Especially since not only our we handicapping our offense. but we're wasting Fiers by having him do nothing (not to mention losing that built up stamina since he's just not pitching).
  16. Agree with this 100%. Off the bat, I thought easy grounder. Then I realize that Weeks is absolutely nowhere near the ball and couldn't even touch it on a dive. A 2b with even average range is going to field that ball and likely get the out. Weeks really hurt us in this game in the field and at the plate. He's been a pain to watch for a while. How long are we stuck with this guy? This situation reminds me of Bill Hall... Weeks has been pretty good against LHP this year, but his defense is just awful. Would it be that terrible to let Gennett get an occasional start against a LHP? I understand sitting him against the tough ones, but occasionally he's got to start, just to at least see what he's got?
  17. Agree with this 100%. Off the bat, I thought easy grounder. Then I realize that Weeks is absolutely nowhere near the ball and couldn't even touch it on a dive. 18. This isn't 'singlehandedly'. The offense failed to score. The defense gave up an unearned run. Kintzler sucked, but to say he 'single handedly' cost them the game is false. Thanks captain cliff notes. Who got the loss? So any time a pitcher gets a loss, the entire game should be pinned directly onto their shoulders? Kintzler gave up one run, it's not like he walked four guys or blew a five run lead. Good grief.
  19. I don't think Kintzler is great, and he's lost a couple games and put himself in some jams. But he's only given up 3 ER in his last 15 outings (covering about 13 innings). I question bringing him in when we had Smith still available and two other lefties we could have brought in based on where they are in the order, but it's not "single handidly" his fault. Do you blame EVERY RP that blows a game? They're going to give up run occasionally. Blame the offense for doing nothing for 5 innings or for Rickie Weeks handing them a free first inning run more than Kintzler.
  20. That's a little harsh. He gave up one run. And if Weeks had any range at all, he might have gotten to that ball (maybe). Not to mention the two botched DP's in the first inning that cost us a run. Hard to blame a guy for giving up one run and blaming the entire game on him. The last ball wasn't exactly drilled, just in the right spot. Though I do wonder why we didn't leave Smith in. He threw only 4-5 pitches and they had some lefties coming up.
  21. Sure didn't take advantage of the Cardinals finally losing. Really shady defense in the first inning gave them a run and our offense was pretty non-existant the last 5 innings. Frustrating but can't win them all I guess.
  22. I said it in the IGT last night, but this is a type of situation that can really bring a team together. You know they were pissed when Braun got hit, especially with 2 attempts and a celebration in the dugout. You could hear it in BA and Brians voice when Lucroy hit the slam. That was a huge team building moment. Like Braun as a teammate or not, the actions by AZ last night were bush league and you could tell everyone was pretty stoked to make them pay. Let's hope in a couple months we look back on it as the game that sparked a huge run.
  23. Evan Marshall: "Tried to pitch inside and the ball got away and that's what I told the umpire". Reporter: "Ok, well what about the second pitch then?" Smirk, then "Same thing, ball got away". So...according to him, he's trying to get the ball inside to get the out. Kinda contradicts Gibson saying he wanted to setup the double play. Oh and now: "No, I wasn't trying to hit him". "I was surprised to get ejected without a warning". I guess he can't come out and say he hit him on purpose, but come on man.
  24. Going to hear from Evan Marshall now on FSN. Think he's got the stones to say he did it on purpose? Or what the umpire said to him after the first one?
