  1. The first round locations are as follows: Buffalo, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego, Spokane and St. Louis. Really just two anywhere near here in Milwaukee and St. Louis. At this point, while St. Louis wouldn't be far away, I think Kansas and Wichita State probably have that locked down barring a pretty big collapse. So for Milwaukee, I would think it boils down to two out of the following group: Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan and Creighton. Assuming none of those fall flat on their faces in the next two weeks, I think Wisconsin has a pretty good shot. While the location is the closest site to Creighton after St. Louis, it's still over 600 miles away, so I'm not sure that's much of advantage to them. Michigan and MSU both have resumes worse than ours by a relatively substantial margin. Still gotta take care of business the next two weeks and hope for some losses by the others to be sure.
  2. Obviously avoiding the top seeds for as long as possible is huge, but let's also not forget about the possibility of playing in Milwaukee for the first two rounds. While it doesn't guarantee anything (it didn't last time as we know), but that's a huge advantage. Close to home, tons of fans, etc. The more wins they get and the higher up the S curve they move, the more and more likely it is that they wind up staying in-state for the first two rounds.
  3. Wow. Huge road win today!! Showed a lot of character after playing like poop for the first ten minutes of the second half. It's a tad concerning that in both the last two games they had a solid lead and blew it in the early stages of the second half. Can't keep doing that. Despite that, I was hoping at best they'd split the past two games and they've come away with two huge wins. Barring a complete collapse in their next 5 games (Indiana, at PSU, Purdue, at Nebraska, Big Ten tournament), they should at worst be a 4 seed and likely playing in Milwaukee. As it stands right now, I think they're probably right around the top 3/bottom 2 line. Those non-conference wins are outstanding. Their RPI is great, they've won a ton of games away from home and they're playing well at the end of the year (so far). Those are all big plus marks for the committee to see. I think a two is probably their ceiling unless they win out and get a lot of losses from other teams.
  4. Fun game to watch, kinda sucks that we lost though. I'm not that big of a hockey fan so I could be wrong here, but we seemed pretty overmatched. Had a few scoring chances, but really not very many. Disappointing to say the least.
  5. How can Braun's thumb not be fully healed yet? He hasn't played in almost 8 months. Any injury should have healed by now unless it was misdiagnosed or something. I sure hope that it's not a problem. Or maybe he's just building in an excuse already in case he isn't as good without the juice. I hope that's not the case, but after what he's said in the past, I don't know what to believe from him.
  6. It saves them money as both Sessions and Adrien are on expiring contracts. Neal is signed through next season at about 3.3 million, so it clears up some salary and a roster spot for next year. Hopefully Sessions doesn't take away minutes from Wolters. Sessions actually probably makes us better this year, hopefully not enough to affect the tank though. I don't understand why we kept Butler though. Should have just given him away. Also disappointed they couldn't make a bigger move with Ersan and/or Mayo.
  7. Marquette hung around for awhile, but Creighton's offense is just too much. Pretty hard to win when a team shoots 62% overall, 52% from three (which includes TWELVE made) and Marquette missed 16 FT. This was one Marquette really had to have from a tournament perspective. They still have a slim shot, but I think they likely have to win out at this point. They just couldn't figure it out this year, especially on the offensive end. Really makes you wonder what could have been had Blue stayed in school. Outside the state, Syracuse lost at home tonight to a terrible BC team. Syracuse has gotten exceptionally lucky the last few games so they had it coming, but this was still pretty surprising considering how bad BC is.
  8. Gotta feel somewhat bad for the guy. Yeah, he may have been somewhat lazy and out of shape at times, but having 3 potentially torn ACL's is just incredibly bad luck.
  9. I don't think we can get another first round pick, not with what we have to offer. Ersan has played really poorly this year, his value is probably pretty low compared to where it was over the summer. I wouldn't just give him away, but the others I certainly would. Even if it's just for second round picks or trade exceptions, those are helpful too when we're talking about trading guys like Neal, Butler, etc. They aren't exactly valuable. That said, Hammond will probably do nothing.
  10. Didn't want to jinx it during the game, but the defense was great. Both MN and MI torched them attacking the hoop the first time around and we took that away completely for the most part. Both hit quite a few threes at the end of the game but I can live with that. Still a little concerning to see the offense go completely stagnant for 4-6 minutes in the second half, but they responded well and pulled away. That's a nice, nice resume building win. Even with a loss at Iowa, if they win the last four and win one B10 tournament game, I don't see anyway they aren't a top 4 seed in the tournament, with a likely spot in Milwaukee waiting for them.
  11. Their non-conference play should help them. They beat a lot of good teams, quite a few of which were on the road. The strength of the B10 is really going to help them too. They could really use one of these next two as they are really the only two marquee teams they have left on the schedule. I don't see them beating Iowa, so it'll have to be Michigan tomorrow. They've played 18 games against the RPI top 100 (according to ESPN), and every team they have left is in the top 115 so that SOS should stay where it's at. All 5 losses are inside the RPI top 100 as well (surprisingly NW is at 97 and Indiana is at 91). It would sure help them if some of the non-conference teams they beat keep on winning (Florida, Virginia, St. Louis mainly, but to a lesser extent WV, Marquette, GB, St. Johns). If they can split the next two and avoid a loss after that (at NE or PSU may prove tough), they would be sitting at 25-6 entering the B10 tournament. With the resume they'd have, I can't see anyway they wouldn't be a top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. If my understanding is correct (and it might not be), if they're in the top 4 seed lines, they get preferential treatment in seeding, which could result with games in Milwaukee. A lot of things have to happen first though, still got 6 games to go. Marquette with a nice win today, though I still see them as being a long ways out of the bubble picture. If they can beat Creighton this week, that might bring them quite a bit closer. I think realistically though, they can probably only afford one more loss at the most, which would mean closing out the year beating Creighton or Villanova, Georgetown, @ Providence and St. Johns (both of which are fighting for a tourney spot too).
  12. Their non-conference resume is great, I just hope they get credit for the wins against Florida and MSU - as both weren't at full strength (not that that is WI's fault) when they played. The lack of putting teams away is concerning. That's two straight games they more or less had it locked up but let a team back in it with some missed FT and poor defense down the stretch. But wins are wins. Big weekend for WI teams, as MU hosts Creighton and UW is at Michigan.
  13. Rickie could cure cancer, play gold glove D, slash 300/400/500, and giveaway 500 bobbleheads to blind orphans and it wouldn't change your mind about him. In fact, you'd probably knock him because 50 of the 500 were variants. Ummmm, that is a bit extreme. You are right, the last two seasons have made up my mind about Weeks. I can't forget the absolute frustration I have felt during that time about his place in the line-up and on the team... Could I say the same about your view? Rickie could slash 200/250/300 and you would continue to make excuses for him... Love this post. I couldn't possibly agree more. Do we all want Weeks to produce this year? Of course. But I just can't figure out the love for him and why so many people defend him to no end. The last two years were infuriating and his lack of production definitely cost the Brewers big time. Sure, he's shown flashes and had good months in him, but the last two years were the exact opposite of that. All signs point to him being on a severe decline, yet the love/excuses for him still exist. If he was a FA and the Brewers signed him, would everyone still think he was going to turn it around? Or would we simply call it a depth move that has very little chance of making an MLB roster? The numbers simply don't lie after 2 seasons, it's no longer a small sample size.
  14. The Duke/UNC thing was utterly ridiculous. The reason they gave is that the Duke buses couldn't make it on time to pick them up. They knew the snow was coming well in advance...they're only 8 miles apart. Call for the buses early and go. It's just silly to cancel a game due to 6 inches of snow. I didn't look it up, but I'm sure NC gets snow occasionally so the fact that they were this unprepared for it is just a joke to me.
  15. That's a good point Bnowell about Reynolds last season...However, I think that Melvin is using a smoke screen of a platoon with Juan Francisco or Lyle Overbay. They just are not good options and they would be playing a majority of the time if it were a strict platoon. Reynolds was signed to be the guy. I would hardly call Reynolds a "good option" either. Hence why he was signed on a minor league deal with a 2 million MLB salary if he makes the team. Is he the best option we have...maybe, but that's hardly saying much.
  16. I watch the Olympics pretty much non-stop, both summer and winter. Couple reasons I guess... 1 - It's on all the time, all day every day during the events so it's something to watch. 2 - I like sports and the Oympics give the ability to see a lot of sports that I really only view every 4 years. 3 - This is probably the biggest, but the American aspect of it is something I take pride in. Doesn't matter the event, if there's a USA person in it, that's who I'm cheering for. And there's just something about seeing the flag and hearing the anthem and all that that I really enjoy. I will say though, that it's tougher for me in the Winter Olympics because I don't always know what the scoring is based on. For things like figure skating and snowboarding, other than glaring mistakes, I have no idea what a good run looks like so I find that aspect difficult, plus I'm always a bit skeptical about the judges being honest, but I still enjoy watching.
  17. Are people completely forgetting the numbers he put up with the Brewers last year before being traded? He was pretty awesome, and while he's not likely to be that good again, I doubt he's as bad as the 4.5 ERA he put up in Baltimore. Somewhere in between is going to be pretty good, especially for a guy that can step right into the closers role if need be. I don't condone abuse obviously, but charges were dropped, so we don't necessarily know everything. Though I'm sure he did something wrong, we don't know and are jumping to conclusions that aren't necessarily fair.
  18. Still no information on when/how we'll be getting these?
  19. Can anyone tell me what channels are televising the Olympics? I know NBC, but usually there are a few others that have other events on during the day and stuff. Just curious if anyone knows.
  20. Well both Marquette and Wisconsin found ways to win tonight, though neither really inspired any confidence that they will be better going forward, but two wins nonetheless.
  21. I feel you TLB...however, who would have thought that Gamel would blow out ACLs in 2012 and 2013, as well as have Hart's knees fail him as well? Sticking a platoon of Reynolds/Francisco/Overbay at 1B in 2014 when you had all offseason to acquire a better option is downright embarrassing. Not only that, but Hart spurned the Brewers offer (despite his statements saying he'd stay). Morris could have been the guy but he struggled in AAA and Doug seemingly forgot about him in September. We had guys around to replace Prince, but it all seemingly went south at the same time and this is where we sit. The biggest problem for me, is that I don't see a long term solution anywhere unless we sign a legit FA at some point (unlikely) or Morris figures it out (unlikely IMO).
  22. Even if those guys make strides, they're still in desperate need of scorers and star quality players. They absolutely must get one in this draft (I like Parker, but Wiggins could come on strong too). If both are gone, then they have some choices to make. They'll likely pick in the top 5 next year too, so if they can nail those two picks (unlikely given who will be making the picks), and those young guys develop, they may be on to something. I really hope they can move some guys to get more picks this year, mainly Ersan.
  23. Not only can they not stop guards from lighting it up, but they've suddenly become unable to score the ball. For a team of really good shooters, they all seem to have gone into a slump at the same time. Kaminsky has been really bad outside. And Dekker has been really disappointing. This is a guy that many think could go to the NBA this year, yet he can't take over a game nor can he pick up the slack on offense when the team is struggling.
  24. Has anyone heard anything about this? More specifically, when/how we're going to be getting them?
  25. Absolutely pathetic tonight by the Badgers. Not much else to say. Lost (convincingly) to a 10-11 NW team that they destroyed on the road earlier this year. They just aren't as good as I had hoped I guess. This loss alone is going to cost them a couple of seeds come March. Again gave up almost 50% shooting. And in this one, the offense was atrocious. They came on somewhat strong at the end, but it was way too late. You can't shoot 26% for an entire game and expect to win. I though the other games were bad, but they should be utterly embarrassed by this one. This is a team that was supposed to have so many scoring weapons and then this happens.
