  1. If it's Fiers, that seems like an even trade. If it's Thornburg, I'd definitely pass. I don't see it with Davis though. He seems to have some power, but he's a career .240 hitter.
  2. I don't understand why we didn't go after him. For that price, the length of contract we wanted. Makes no sense.
  3. They beat the Bulls because the Bulls threw out a lineup that had to be one of the worst in the NBA this year. Sucks that the Bucks won, but given that it was still close shows you how bad we are. Bucks got back on the right path last night, losing at home by 32 to the Spurs. The schedule gets hard in a hurry. Anyone look at their January schedule? I'm not sure they win more than 1 or 2 games that entire month.
  4. Harris definitely left after his junior year...hard to criticize him as he was the 5th overall pick in the draft. He's the only one though. Dekker may very well be the next. Nice to see them throttle UWM last night. They should have but you never know with college kids when they can overlook someone.
  5. Are there any other realistic options for 1b? Or are we stuck with Davis, Loney or what we currently have?
  6. Trumbo in LF, especially in that giant park, is going to be hilarious to watch. What are the DBacks thinking?
  7. I would love it if that happened. I'm so tired of the "one and done" type players that those schools have no problems bringing in year after year. It's not even building a program or a team, it's become who can get the best one year wonders.
  8. We've had cold days in the past, but usually not quite this early. I think the average high in the Milwaukee area is still in the low-mid 30's. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, or this is going to be a brutal winter.
  9. Sure seems like while the Brewers want Hart back, they seem to be asking him to take some sort of reduced salary compared to other teams. From the JS blog: Manager Ron Roenicke said, "We're trying to figure out if we can't bring (Hart) back, where we go. Whether by trade or signing a free agent. There's a lot of discussion about it. "Corey knows where I stand on what I think about him. It always comes down to a decision on how much he wants to come back with us, and where we are financially with our offer. He's a quality guy and when he's healthy he's certainly a great player. The "how much he wants to come back" part is the big part to me.
  10. If he comes cheap and we don't force him into high-pressure situations, I guess I'm ok with it. Much rather just bring K-Rod back though.
  11. I guess it could be but I don't think Bo will let them overlook the next 3 games, they're all at home which help too. Been a fun season, as I don't think most people (including me) didn't really think they'd be nearly this good. While the Badgers don't have any "elite wins, they've played a pretty darn good schedule. They beat Florida, and they don't get much credit for it because Florida was short handed, but that's out of their control. They've beaten 5 teams in the top 50, 3 more in the top 100 (plus one listed at 103 according to CBS RPI). The win at GB gets overlooked, but GB is a very solid team that should blow through the Horizon league this year. So while the resume isn't loaded with elite wins, it has tons of quality wins. Are they one of the top 5 teams in the country? Maybe not but their resume seems to say otherwise at this point. That being said, I doubt they stay in the top 5-10 for a few reasons: 1 - We're not Duke, Kansas, UNC, etc. There are certain schools that seem to get the benefit of a doubt in rankings, even after a loss and we're simply not one of them. 2 - The Big Ten is brutal this year. Even though the schedule is favorable, they will still play Iowa twice, Indiana twice, Michigan twice, plus MSU and OSU...they're bound to be some losses in there, probably several. I'd be surprised if the B10 winner doesn't have 4-5 losses or more.
  12. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say texting is the same as drinking and driving, though it certainly is dangerous. Main difference for me is that texting impairs your driving sense for a few seconds at a time, whereas D+D it impaired the entire time, but I certainly get your point. If you absolutely must send a text, stop or pullover. That being said, yesterday was just ridiculous. It wasn't that big of a storm - 3-5 inches in most places, and there was some freezing rain first which made it worse, but those accidents were crazy. How is it that seemingly every year, people forget what it's like to drive in the snow? It's not different than last year, slow down and be careful. Just makes no sense to me. I do, however, agree that the cleanup of it was atrocious. The wind was making it somewhat worse, but it was only about 3 inches. That simply shouldn't take long to cleanup, but it took forever, and no salt was down. Even when the storm appeared to be coming sooner, they could have at least gotten the salt trucks out on the freeways but they never did from what I could tell - very, very poorly managed.
  13. For 40 man space, if we bring back Hart and get Morrison, that's got to be the end of the road for Francisco I would think.
  14. Badgers up to 4th in the AP poll, 6th in the coaches poll. I can't say I saw this coming this season, but it's been fun. This is the highest they've been ranked since their one week stint at #1 a few years back. Given the next three games should be blowouts, they're a few upsets away from returning to #1.
  15. I don't really see how this is any different than every other off-season over the last 20 years. In almost all cases, there's only about the same 8-10 teams that can legitimately afford the top tier FA. This hasn't changed and it's been the same teams repeatedly. I don't know what you expect the Brewers to do. The rich get richer in the FA pool and the lower teams have to find the diamonds in the rough. Just curious, but what FA that has signed should the Brewers have signed?
  16. So again, I don't follow soccer a ton, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.... But isn't there a better way of setting up the groups? This just seems like a system that was designed a hundred years ago and was never updated. In any tournament format (for me at least), I want the best teams to match up as close to the end of the tournament as possible, and when you literally draw names out of a hat, you could wind up with top 4 or the worst 4 teams in any given group right? Wouldn't you want to divide those up as best as possible? Especially for an event that only happens every 4 years? Maybe I'm missing some safeguards they have in place or something, but that's just how it seems to me and I can't imagine any other sporting event (like say, the NCAA tournament) just leaving it to complete randomness.
  17. So no chance at all of advancing? I only casually follow soccer but we really have no chance at all?
  18. Off topic some, but I DO think K-Rod is on the Brewers radar. I think he'll look to close, not find a job and return here to be a setup guy and failsafe for Henderson. He seemed to genuinely like it here and was successful here in the past. And it's not like teams are beating down the door to sign him..
  19. It sounds like at the very worst, we've found a lefty specialist that will be under the Brewers control for the next 4-5 years. While it's a tad of a minor role, it's a role the Brewers seem to have struggled to find the last few years. I'm hoping for more, but that seems like the worst case scenario. He's only 24 and could certainly develop more. Is that fair for one year of Aoki? Time will tell I guess, but at least we know that the Brewers are getting something they CAN use in the bullpen immediately if they want to do so.
  20. I also assume they nix Japanese heritage day, but they've already announced that as an all fan bobblehead day, I'd imagine they're going to keep that. Meaning, they need a new one. I continue to hold out hope that they start with some of the 90's Brewers like Cirillo or Vaughn, but we all know that's not going to happen. The Brewers have basically determined that those players never existed when it comes to bobbleheads.
  21. Can Gindl play RF? Or would Schafer be the only backup there? Has Halton played out there at all in the minors?
  22. Even with Wiggins or another top pick, the Bucks likely will still be in the lottery next year and could very easily address the PG spot in the following draft or through FA. They would certainly need someone that could knock down some jumpers, either starting at SG or a few of them coming off the bench. Long, long way to go yet. I'm still waiting for them to win 2-3 games in a week so Hammond can think we're back in it and do something stupid.
  23. So with Aoki now traded, who gets his bobblehead spot? Can't imagine they'd still do Aoki, especially with that game being in late June...any guesses?
  24. That was key, they likely would have kept Aoki if they controlled him for 4 more years, but they don't. They have younger options available at the OF spots. Aoki has already past his prime, was extremely unlikely to get an extension and they felt they could add a quality, young LHP to the roster.
  25. While it's a small sample size (only 30 innings or so) but a LHP out of the pen with a 1.78 ERA, almost 1k/inning and a lefty BAA of .140 is nothing to sneeze at IMO. Is this the best we can do for Aoki, I have no idea, but if he produces anywhere close to that, even as a RP, that would certainly be a valuable asset to have. I just hope if they put him in the bullpen, they don't limit him to just lefties. He's only 24 and could also develop further.
