  1. It will be interesting to see if he really sues them, as his lawyer threatened. I hadn't seen any statements from that lawyer, where was that hidden this whole time? I really hope Braun is telling the truth, because if he's not and this all comes out, he's painted himself into a corner and is really going to look like a total douche. And for ESPN, they very well could get in trouble for basically saying "there is no other reason for him to be on that list". How do they know that? That's pure speculation, and they sort of state that, but that article is pretty damning towards Braun. I don't see a suspension from this, Bosch claims it's all [expletive deleted by mod], so he's not giving any statements and what we've seen so far is handwritten papers. Just because he's on the list doesn't mean he had PED's, the theory that "he's on this list, no other reason for that other than PED use" is pure speculation. Sure, it could be true and maybe it is, but it could be for just about anything too. The more stuff they find though, they may try to pin it on him if possible. What we've seen so far doesn't do it though.
  2. Well so much for him saying anything at camp. He basically stated that he made his statement last week, that he stands behind that and will fully cooperate with any investigation but that he won't be answering any other questions about it.
  3. Yeah, I know the FA's don't come here but I'd rather have two somewhat useable role players (like Dunleavy for example) than a waste of space like Gooden and his bloated salary. I'm also in favor of a complete blowup, I have been for years now. But like you said...they need luck in the draft. Even with a bunch of top picks, you can still suck...see the Kings for example. Having lots of space could also allow us to take on some big salary from a team (like the Cavs/Grizz just did) and maybe get a draft pick as compensation too. But their only hope to ever be a serious contend is to nail the draft (like OKC) and hope you can do it before the guys rookie deals expire and they want out of Milwaukee. Of course, they'd actually have to play the young guys, not let them sit and rot like Harris and Henson. Playing for the 8 seed is garbage. At this point, I'd rather they make it than finish 9th. That spot won't win the lottery and at least they'd be in the playoffs but that shouldn't be the goal just to make it.
  4. Jackson played absolutely terrible. Despite that, this was a game they basically had won. I believe zero points in the last six minutes. Any points at all it's probably a win. Bruiser gets the charge with 22 seconds left, then up two, runs the baseline and turns it over - inexcusable, especially from a senior. This makes up for the MI game I guess, because they had this one more or less won and blew it. You just simply can't win games when you just stop scoring for 9 minutes, 5 minutes, 6 minutes, etc. And they do it every game seemingly. Oh, and Evans simply should never be on the floor in the last 10 min of a close game. He simply can't make a FT to save his life. Not only that...in his last 8 games, Evans is a combined 26-87 from the floor (29.8%). He's also taken MORE shots than every other player during that stretch. The guy is shooting 29% and is taking the most shots on the team. Really? His defense is fine, so is is rebounding, but his offense is just killing the Badgers. Both from the line and from the floor.
  5. Hard not to watch those videos and not get excited. Obviously those are designed to make them look good, but still. Brown looks to be very athletic, though it didn't show much other than layups and dunks. Herring is a big, big guard with a very pure and smooth shooting motion. And Koening, well we all knew he could pass and has been said to have amazing court vision. That sure showed that. Throw Dekker into that mix and they might be on to something. Based on the amount of seniors being lost, there certainly will be minutes next year, we'll see if any of these guys can get consistent playing time.
  6. So Dekker wasn't eligible to come back in...that's fine. But wouldn't ANYONE on the bench have been better? How about Kaminsky? Pretty much anyone....or have Evans inbound the ball if you want him on the court. Just makes no sense. But it didn't matter. Be nice to sweep MN tonight, as they've been sliding lately. I'm not sure how well we matchup with their size, but we'll see. It's been long enough that they shouldn't have a letdown from Saturday. The schedule is getting easier at this point...if they could split the next two games, they could really have a chance at the Big Ten. Might not quite win it, but they could easily be top 4 again, which I think many found nearly impossible with this team. Would also ensure a top 6 seed come the tournament - most pundits have them as a 4-5 right now as it is. Even if they lose tonight, to OSU and to MSU and win the rest of the games (they'll be favored in all of those), they'd wind up at 12-6 in the best conference in college basketball.
  7. Can't the Bucks still amnesty Gooden? If they can't move him, they should just dump him. They'll have an awful lot of money this off season to play with.
  8. I don't disagree on either point and I am also less then thrilled with what turned out to be a relatively boring off season...I'm not really sure what options we had. What pitcher would you have liked to target? I can't imagine us signing a top FA pitcher, so that leaves a trade. Teams aren't exactly giving away #2 starters, and when they do, they ask for a ton in return. With our minor league system really not great, I'm not sure we had the ammo to make such a trade unless we're talking about including guys like Peralta, which would just seem silly. I don't like the lower payroll though. They could have made a stronger push to get guys that could have helped (like Dempster or Jackson IMO). Not necessarily ace type pitches, but very solid guys that could have solidified the rotation.
  9. So be it then. At one point, he claimed to "love" Milwaukee. He also claimed that he was more or less happy that Skiles was gone. This is what has become of the NBA, sure we don't know what happens behind closed doors, but essentiall you get a guy that is really just an average player throwing his weight around (and right before the trade deadline) trying to force his way out of small market. The Mavericks have virtually nothing the Bucks should be trying to get if they are serious about trading him.
  10. We'll never get any clarification about his appeal other than what is already out there. MLB made sure of that when they chose to keep it confidential. For those of you looking for more from Braun, he's likely going to have to say SOMETHING about it when he reports to camp. The media isn't just going to let it go.
  11. I'm not saying MI should have fouled on a half courter, I think I take my chances on that. But both of the MI threes could have been avoided with fouls and those were way more than 3%.
  12. Great, great win for Wisconsin. But I really have to question a few of the decisions by Bo. Not fouling at the end of regulation was bad, especially when the clocked reach 3 seconds. Two, having Evans in, up 3 with a 1 and 1 coming was stupid. Have him inbound the ball then, then actually inbounding it to him was silly too (as he promptly missed the front end). But not fouling Burke at the end was the worst of all. Up 3, ten seconds left, THREE fouls to give. You use none of them and give them a chance (and a good look) to tie it. Foul there at least twice starting around the 6-8 second mark. Force them to inbound and make a deep three to tie it. Or even use all 3 fouls and force the to make the front end, miss and score again. I don't mind not fouling if you're worried about the make/miss/hit a three scenario, but I have a huge problem with it under ten seconds withe THREE fouls to give and a 3 point lead. Got lucky they missed a good look. Despite all that, huge win and the Brust shot was certainly one of the bigger highlights that I'll remember. Only thing better would have been if that won the game. Marquette struggled to put away DePaul but still got the W today as well.

  14. If I had to pick a team at this very moment...it would be Michigan or Florida. While they both are beatable, they seem to have the most talent and have played the best all year. But I could see either losing in the Sweet 16 too. Just no dominant teams. I'm curious to see if WI can stay within range of Michigan tomorrow. This has to be a great shot for a 16 this year. We had 2 15's last year, and the one seeds just won't be as great as they usually are. It's going to happen someday.
  15. Him failing the test is one thing, MLB had a right to try to suspend him for that. The "out to get him" part comes from the fact that they acted like a 2 year old girl throwing a temper tantrum after the fact. Issuing statements vehemntly disagreeing with the decision instead of just saying that the process worked as intended with the independent arbitrator. Then firing their arbitrator of 20 years (even though he was still good enough for the NFL). They very clearly were unhappy with him not being suspended and I highly doubt those feelings have subsided in the last year. If anythinhg, they may look even harder at him this time because they think he didn't get the suspension he deserved last time. This is why I see no way that they ever make a public statement saying he has proved he is innocent.
  16. MLB will never issue a statement stating that Braun told the truth. Never. We saw how they had it out for him last year and this is going to make them want to nail him for something even more. They may not suspend him, but they won't ever say he was clean and proved it. I'd fall out of my chair if they did.
  17. With less than a second left, you should be guarding the hoop more than anything else. Make them take a long, contested jumper in less than a second. You can't give up a layup there. I find it funny because I can't stand IU or Tom Creen but that's just horribly bad defense right there. This could really be a crazy tournament come March. I think that every year, but this year there just aren't any really good teams IMO. There is no Kentucky from last year where you knew they'd likely win. As we've seen, all the top teams are vulnerable...most of them have lost to unranked teams (Kansas to TCU, IU to WI/IL for example). I really think there are probably 20-25 teams with a real shot to win the championship, plus you have dark horses or teams that have struggled that could get hot at the right time.
  18. I love how we have actual lawyers saying it makes perfect sense to use him. That when you have almost an unlimited amount of money for a defense, they can reach out to just about anyone they want. Including someone that might have information about how tests are done, tainted, etc. Not only that, but as far as I know, last year at this time, the place was thought to be a legit establishment? So lawyers say it makes perfect sense, but sportswriters and guys like Bob Costas appparently know better.
  19. You can choose to not pay a single dime throughout the course of the year and then make one big payment to the government when you file your taxes. Actually, some peolpe do it on purpose. The key is you have to trust yourself to not spend the money. Or make enough, have enough in savings to not worry about it. That allows YOU to keep the money normally for taxes in your bank accounts all year, collect interest from it and then pay them when it's due. Rather than give the government all the money and interest along with it throughout the year.
  20. So if I'm reading that article right, Braun is unlikely to product any documents that can prove his innocence (if he has them)...and that we're once again having to take him for his word. Granted, his name on a piece of paper is really all we have to view, but for many...this coupled with last years incident will make him guilty forever.
  21. I work at a payroll company, have for 10 years. So I'm 100% positive of this. You can claim literally anything you want on your W-4. Makes no difference if you're married, you can still claim single and as many exemptions as you want. The only thing that effects is what tax table you're going to be using. If you don't mind me asking...how much are you paying at the end of the year? As WVbrew said, even with single zero it's still possible that you may owe at the end of the year (especially if you have a second PT job or something), so you may want to claim zero AND have an additional amount taken out of each check.
  22. I know it's early yet, but anyone willing to sell me an extra of these when they are given away? My buddies that I have season tickets with don't really collect bobbleheads and with so many this year and all of them being on Sunday, there was no way I could include all of them in our 20 game pack. The only games I have tickets to are April 21 (George Scott) and June 23 (polish). Meaning I need the other 8. I'm not looking for any of the retros or anything like that, just a normal bobblehead of each. I live in the Waukesha area so meeting would be much more ideal than shipping all of those. Anyone?
  23. I wish we had more articles like this. It's something I've been arguing all along. That the orginal story didn't have Braun included (and you know they would have if possible) because they had access to all the files and had nothing that connected Braun. The newspaper showed some restraint and integrity that clearly places like Yahoo just simply don't have any more. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/21657424/maybe-the-new-times-was-cautious-for-a-reason
  24. Good night for state hoops as Marquette just destroys USF (as they should) and Wisconsin somehow finds a way to beat Iowa in double OT. Despite the fact that they seemingly tried to give the game to Iowa on a couple of occassions (Evans TO and foul in regulation, turnovers and fouls in the last 10 seconds), but it's a win regardless. Marquette is a virtual lock at this point, and unless WI really implodes, they should make it to the dance as well. Probably need 2-3 more wins to clinch a bid.
  25. This is pretty much the most important thing. If he's telling the truth, there has to be a paper trail to indicate that, and if he has that, it will find it's way into public view, which should hopefully end the whole thing. If he isn't able to produce that, well that could really be problematic. But there is no way he was paid 30K consulting/retainer fee or whatever without a receipt, contract, phone records, emails, etc.
