  1. I don't think Mark is really running the Brewers to "make" money. From what I understand, he is making a ton of money in his own personal business dealings. Now, he may not want to just lose buckets full of money with the Brewers but he's not in it with them to make a year to year profit. I think he's doing it because he loves owning the team and he knows that when he does finally sell the team, he'll make a fortune.
  2. I was unable to make the game this year of the Miller Beer Vendor bobblehead, which was ultimately a can selling beer or something like that. It's the only one missing in my collection of the SGA's but I'm just now getting around to it. Anyone have an extra they want to sell?
  3. I don't think KRod really throws that big of a wrench in to it. I mean, if they really want to, they can look a little foolish and just release him for the 2-3 million or maybe see if anybody would take him. We gave up virtually nothing to get him in the first place so getting virtually nothing back would be fine too. Mark A. has shown that he isn't opposed to losing money if it meant we could win and after this year KRod and Wolf contracts come off the books, as well as potential free agents Greinke and Marcum. Say what you want about keeping those guys, that's another story but they could make it work this year if they wanted I think.
  4. Still no official word, deadline fast approaching. Maybe K-Rod "informing" someone he was accepting was just Boras' way of getting teams to up their offer or bring in new last minute deals or something?
  5. So with K-Rod in the fold at say 12 million, where exactly does that put our salaries at? If they wanted to sign Ramirez, they'd have to shed payroll from somewhere right? Wolf maybe? Pretty stunned he would sign on for another year to be a setup guy, especially after he complained about being a setup guy and seemed to really want to get saves. I wonder what the plan looked like with him in the fold. Ugh.
  6. The schedule doesn't need excuses...that won't be the problem. The roster is the problem. It leaves much to be desired in my opinion.
  7. Gritty win last night for MU, I think they were running out of gas a little bit there at the end. They are really deep and have many ways to score. Anything on Otule? Sure looked kinda bad, if he's out for awhile that could be problematic. I don't know how they were projected 6th in the Big East this year, that seems way too low. Other than Syracuse, I don't see anyone that is clearly better than Marquette.
  8. If we sign Ramirez, I really hope they go for Furcal as well. Just for the defense alone. Having another brutal infield defense would really suck. Furcal didn't hit very much but he can at least bring us that glove and arm of his and I'd have to think he hits better than he did last year. What is Furcal even asking for? I haven't heard anything on him at all.
  9. I highly doubt Hall would ever return here - seems burned on both sides of that bridge but if he was willing to come in for virtually nothing, it's a least worth a look. He can still hit lefties to some extent with some pop and can play at least average defense all around the field.
  10. What happened to everything about him loving SD and really, really wanting to stay there? This doesn't seem like that much money for the Padres to match at the very least.
  11. I understand the Nationals are trying to "win now" but signing Fielder could really hurt them a few years down the road. Assuming Prince gets 7-8 years, along with the already giant 7-8 year deal Werth has. They're fine for now, but what happens in 2-3 years when guys like Strasburg, Morse (who was very productive) and Harper (assuming he's in the bigs this year) come up? You're already going to have 40+ million a year tied to Werth/Prince. Where is all the money going to come from?

  13. Ziggler had an entire match before that tag match right? I guess that kinda makes sense to get him out of there. That being said....the WWE seems to just botch stuff. I've vented on the PG angle that i think is ruining it all, but aside from that, they just don't develop people or storylines right. Everything changes week to week or PPV to PPV (which is only like 3 weeks apart these days). There is no surprises, no sudden heel turns, nothing. Look back at the "glory days" of Wrestling and just about every superstar was a big heel at one poine or another and now it won't happen because of the money involved with merchandise. And when someone does get popular like CM Punk, they take all the stuff people liked (being a rebel, going against the company, etc) and basically just ignore it and make him into a goof. I've said for years now that my interest in WWE was fading and they kept just barely keeping me around but even that is about to go I think. Watiing to see one more WM and then it might be all done and over.
  14. I've said for years now that they give out WAY too many. More than every other team most years. They have repeated players, they have given out Wolf, Kendall, Suppan etc, as well as now redoing sausages. It's just a joke and I honestly and running out of room. Plus the quality of them these days compared to the first couple years is very, very poor.
  15. any idea when this will get released? season ticket renewals are due next friday and it would be nice to know who the bobbleheads are before selecting any games.
  16. Braun would at least have some speed/athletic ability to make up for the fact that he's a mediocre outfielder. Kotsay has nothing.
  17. If it's not going to be Morgan, how could it NOT be Gomez at this point? He's hit the ball well in the playoffs and he's by far the best CF on the roster in the field. This is just another one of those ridiculous moves that RR makes. It makes absolutely no sense at all. Despite that, this is a crucial game for the Brewers. Sure, losing isn't the end of the world, but if they could somehow steal this one I would feel a lot better about our chances. We'd have beaten their ace, would have Greinke going in game 5 and be assured of coming home for the weekend. That being said, on paper, this one feels like a sure loss. Yo can't beat the Cardinals and Carpenter has been dominating lately.
  18. They wasted 20 minutes on the intro with the 3 guys staying with HHH, only to have Vince come out and put the kibosh on it. Why waste all of our time then? It was a horrible, horrible episode. One of the worst I have seen in a long itme. They just completely ruined 3-4 different storylines at one time.
  19. I think we're going to get a few runs of Jackson, just need Marcum to not suck tonight. He's been hit around, I think he's due for a good one. Sure hope so at least. If not, hope the offense can score 10 runs again.
  20. RF Corey Hart CF Nyjer Morgan LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 2B Rickie Weeks 3B Jerry Hairston Jr. SS Yuniesky Betancourt C Jonathan Lucroy RHP Shaun Marcum Also, Harold Reynolds is in love with the Cardinals. I normally like him but last night he was just talking about the Cardinals, how good their at bats were, how they would win game 2 and blah blah blah.
  21. The NBA is still huge in a few cities. Like New York and Chicago for example, but not so much here or for most of the country. The NFL is definitely way ahead of MLB at this point. That being said, the Brewers are potentially a team that could draw in more casual fans. They really truely are having fun out there. People like that.
  22. I can't imagine Ron messing with the lineup now. Casey will have his moment at some point in a PH role to get a big hit and help the team. Starting him now is a mistake. Hairston has more than earned his spot. That would mean Weeks to the bench and I just don't think that's happening.
  23. I was at the game so I can't say how the pitch was...and if I recall correctly Pujols may have even broken his bat on this....but on his double play in the 7th yesterday he had this to say: "I had a good pitch to hit, man. I just missed it," he said. "You throw me that pitch, I bet you seven out of 10 times you throw that, I put it in the seats. It is what it is. It's baseball. You're going to get opportunities and, hopefully, I come through." edit: Here is a link to the video. It's not a great pitch but it's not horrible. His bat definitely broke. He had to be at least moderately fooled to take a swing like that and have the bat shatter.
  24. You can pitch inside. Even after warnings, guys can get hit by pitches and not get ejected. If you're pitching inside and it hits a guy and it's not deemed intentional, you're fine. Don't go throwing right at the back of someone or the head and you can pitch inside without a problem. The inner part of the plate and drilling someone on purpose are completely different and I find the argument absurd.
