  1. I see Señor Tovar continues to be on a scorching run. What a past week or so he's had. You love to see it. 2-for-4 today with 1 BB and 1 K. He's being rewarded with more run-producing spots in the line-up to boot. Obviously, we aren't the only ones noticing his recent ascent in the batters box.
  2. Thankfully, the stars align in Xtras as the top of the Crew #2's order will begin the 10th inning. CF Jose Anderson will look to do some real damage leading off the frame.
  3. Welp, there goes that dream for now. LOL. Camilo just gave up a two-out two-run jack. 7-7 game. He walked the next batter. Clearly his most challenged outing of his season. Oooof. He did get the pop out to end the threat. They head to Xtras. Let's hope they can follow the ACL Crew's lead from last night.
  4. With the DSL Uno victory today, they improve to 20-9 overall and maintain a 1.0 G lead over the second place DSL Orioles Orange. The DSL Dos will try to maintain pace with the DSL Cleveland Goryl and DSL Pirates Gold (both @ 21-9 records). If Camilo can work around the one out double the Dodgers just poked to RF, the Crew Dod would move to 4.5 GB at 17-14 and winners of three straight. Miles to go to ensure this type of standing - so to speak.
  5. DSL Crew Dos clinging to a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the 9th. Trying to pull off three consecutive dubs. Today they sport a not so impressive 3-for-17 with RISP but it really won't matter if they can take the dub. They will turn to 18-year-old Dominican RHP Oliver Camilo to try and shut this one down. Camilo has been quite effective in this role to date having surrendered a single earned run in 11 1/3 relief appearances so far this summer with two Saves under his belt.
  6. Transactions: RHP Ryan Birchard was sent to the ACL Brewers to begin his Rehab assignment (more below) RHP Jesael Cabrera retired - we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors Final: DSL Brewers #2 11, DSL Padres Gold 4 Box Score/Game Log This box score is a fun one so you'll certainly want to give it a look over. Every DSL Crew #2 batter tallied at least one knock. Four players tallied two hits. RF Pedro Tovar, who I discussed yesterday briefly, tallied three hits moving his season BA to 0.341 and his OPS to 0.900 in 88 official AB. The subtle box score storyline within, despite some damage done by some usual suspects (CF Jose Anderson; the aforementioned Tovar; Lafond et al), the Crew Dos managed to plate six two-out runs. Two out runs are like compounded interest: we all want it but it isn't necessarily easy to come by. Congrats are due, then, to 3B Frederi Montero; LF Angel Gonzalez; C Yoneiker Lugo and 1B Eduardo Charles for doing their parts in this crucial department. Speaking of the usual suspects and OF Frandy Lafond, the young outfielder managed another respectable 1-for-4 line with 2 BB and 0 K. That's now 38 official AB for Lafond with a 10:5 BB:K advantage. Fantastic work for the young man - let's see if he can start to elevate that 20% XBH rate. Another statistical advantage for the Crew Dos in this blow out victory: 8-of-16 with RISP. that will play in the Win column pretty much any day of the week. In a game where the pitching staff allowed seven walks to four strikeouts in a previously scheduled seven inning affair, it certainly helped the staff as a whole was able to limit the Padres Gold to just four hits. Of the four young men who took the hill for the Cerveceros Dos, 18-year-old Dominican RHP Johan Zapata sticks out for his 1 1/3 scoreless IP - 0 H, 0 BB, and 2 K. He picked up the win and moved to 2-0 on his season. The DSL Brewers #2 moved to 16-14 overall. They reside in third place in their division 5.5 GB the DSL Pirates Gold. Final: ACL Brewers 10, ACL Athletics 9 Box Score/Game Log RHP Ryan Birchard was sent to the Complex League to begin his rehab assignment with the ACL Brewers and begin his rehab assignment he did. Birchard opened the Brewers evening on the hill pitching his first inning of professional baseball since way back on April 6th of this year. Welcome back, young man! What a sight for sore eyes to begin the post-All Star Break hype train. All told, Birchard managed 1 IP of 2 H, 2 K, 1 ER ball. All we hope for now is good recovery and stacked healthy outings from here. We also saw RHP Easton McGee stretch his rehab stint to his longest outing yet - 3 IP of 4 H, 5 K, 2 ER ball. We followed these intriguing storylines with more intriguing ACL Brewers pitching storylines - in an ACL season rife with young hurlers struggling aplenty in the southwest we'll take this intrigue any time we can get it. LHP Anthony Flores, who I and others have discussed on more than one occasion (specifically, his insanely bad luck with BABIP in 2024), gave us a fantastic outing: 2 2/3 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 0 R. The strikeout rate continues to be extremely eye-opening for Flores: 54 K-to-17 BB in 37 1/3 IP in the ACL overall. The theme of the Brewers recently completed MLB draft was quite clearly pitching, so, let's continue with pleasant ACL Brewers pitching storylines. RHP Sam Gardner came aboard and had a flashback to his Aussie Winter League season: he mowed down four consecutive batters all by way of strikeout. Sizzlin' Sam! Finally, let's end this feel good pitching with the ongoing ACL outings of LHP Jesus Broca. He came aboard a bases loaded jam and nobody out in the ninth frame. He did walk in a batter, but he also induced a Sac Fly and two punch outs to prevent a late collapse. All told, he did some decent work over his 2 2/3 IP. I continue to see a lefty who is capable of striking people out in any AB. His final overall box in the 2 2/3 frames included 1 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 ER. In the greater context of what was going on in the game, I consider his outing fairly impressive and he now sports an overall line of 7 IP, 10 K, 3 BB, Since arriving stateside, ACL batters are only hitting him to a very pedestrian 0.136 BA and he is carrying a 0.86 WHIP. Keep an eye on Flores and Broca. I'll leave it at that. Offensively, the Brewers were largely carried by 3B Eric Bitonti and his 2-for-4, 1 R, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 2 2B evening. It certainly helped Bitonti that he was hitting behind rehabbing Juan Baez and his 3-for-5, 3 R, 1 K outing. LF Tyler Rodriguez managed a 2-for-6 evening with 1 K and 1 SB (though he did fail to capitalize on numerous opportunities with RISP) and C Yannic Walther went 2-for-4 with 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, and 1 K. Can we please get Mr. Bitonti to Low-A Carolina so we can all enjoy his sweet lefty stroke? The Brewers managed to score 10 runs total but they somehow managed a 3-for-16 mark with RISP. In the 10-9 victory were they really outdone by Oakland's 4-for-17 mark with RISP? It's hard to say. The Brewers did put the 'W' in the Win column and, in the end, that's all that matters. They get back to 5 games under 0.500 at 24-29 overall. Tomorrow, once again, all rookie ball clubs will be back at it - the DSL Crew in the wee morning hours under a Caribbean sun and the ACL Crew in the desert air throughout the evening hours. At face value, all three contests look to be (record-wise) very competitive tilts. Let's hope for three victories. And, let's root these young men on regardless of the results. As always, thanks for reading and thanks for supporting these young men chasing their professional baseball dreams. 7. The DSL Brewers #1 had their game suspended after two innings leading the DSL Pirates Black 3-2 - we'll have to stay tuned to discover when they resume play (surely, INF Luis Pena will want to keep that fifth triple in his stat ledger 😊). The DSL Brewers #2 led a hit-barrage in their 11-4 victory over the DSL Padres Gold. In the evening hours, the ACL Crew managed to lose a 6-3 lead in the ninth inning and they certainly made it extremely interesting in extras, but they somehow managed to hold on for a 10-9 victory. Lets get into the rookie club report! 8. I continue to think we likely have something in Flores and, now, possibly in Broca. Both are really flashing as lefty strikeout capable relievers. Very curious to see when they make Low-A Carolina and how they fare and what their stuff looks like.
  9. Mercifully, the game ends. The Brewers move past the 6 game under hump and oh how sweet and easeful that was! 10-9 'W'. 😅
  10. Valerio WP. Another run scores and runners advances. What a quagmire. 10-9 Crew. 😅
  11. Valerio just walked in another. Two batters. Two RBI walks. 10-8 Brewers. Bases still juiced. Yikes.
  12. RHP Samuel Valerio came aboard to spell LHP Jesus Broca who had walked a runner aboard to put runners on 1st and 2nd. 10-7 Brewers lead. With Muncy on deck, Valrio walks his first batter on four pitches. You just can't put the winning run to the plate in the form of Muncy here. Ruh Roh! He'll try to escape.
  13. Yeah, swapping out Beasley, Pat Bev, and Crowder for Prince, Trent Jr., and Delon Wright all on minimums is just improving across the board. It's pretty amazing Horts did this all on Vet Minimums. They got younger and better across the board there. Heck Pat Bev is going to Tel Aviv. The League had seen enough of his antics, I guess. Very curious to see what happens with his Podcast now as Barstool re-upped. ** I should add here, I am clearly a middle-aged man incapable of understanding Bev's tweet was likely a joke? Sad to see my humor fall to such low heights!**
  14. Big Time. Big Time. Adamczewski and Bitonti both double. Throw a WP in there. It's suddenly 10-6 Crew. Two down. Big time frame here!
  15. OK. I've watched all three Bucks SL games. Painful much of the time. BUT, some things could possibly be gleaned: A Jax hasn't really developed at all. He is the same uncontrolled spaz on the court he was last season. That is a problem for his future. Marjon simply isn't an NBA player. The sooner the Bucks realize this, the better. Jaylin Galloway has zero business occupying a 2-Way slot. They should open his spot up while they can. Just not an NBA Level prospect. Rollins on the other hand? I'd take him as a third PG developmental guy today. He's been one of the better players out there. Chris Livingston has made immense strides in one year. Happy he's a Buck and he should find some spot wing time this season if the stars align. He just does so many little things and with his size and fluidity there is real potential there. AJ Johnson just may be the best pure prospect the Bucks have had since drafting Giannis. I don't think this is hyperbole. He moves at a faster speed than pretty much anyone on the court. BUT, he can also stop on a dime. He has handles for days. I had no idea this was the level of potential we were getting. There is very very real upside here that, if the stars were to align...he may get PT much sooner than we anticipated. Tyler Smith is a package of tools but he needs to get stronger and keep grinding. I like the form. I like the smoothness. There is definitely something there but I'm unsure quite yet as to what it is. Is he more Charlie V? Or does he actually have some poor man's Bosh to his game? I can't quite tell as of yet.
  16. Big moment for Adamczewski. Bases juiced. Nobody out. Top of 11th. 6-6 game.
  17. Two down. Groundout to 1B. Three down. K to end the threat. Wow. Broca definitely is showing some cajones since coming stateside. Impressive out there!
  18. It's Broca's turn to open the Xtra frame with a WP. 😅 Man on 3rd now. Nobody down. Pop out to 3rd for the first out. One down. 6-6 game.
  19. Man, I swear to you: the ACL Crew reach the six games under 0.500 mark and they absolutely get snakebitten. Uncanny. They took a 6-3 lead into the 9th. Blew it. They just sent Manfred's Man to 3rd on a WP. Nobody out. K, Fielders Choice grabs Rodriguez at Home on a grounder, and Barrios K to end the threat. Nobody crosses.
  20. Can't ask for much more from Broca there. He came on with a bases loaded, zero out scenario. De Los Santos had already given up one run. After the walk for Broca made it 6-5 Crew. He surrendered solely a sac fly and struck out two including Muncy. 6-6 game and they head to Xtras.
  21. Also, this source is my dad. Who has a source. Whose source told him that his source is right about what his source told his source.
  22. I'm just sharing what I heard. Tis all. I've mentioned a couple items on Packers players in the past - typically related to injuries - and they've all been accurate. I'm not saying what the deal is. How long. Any details. The simple word is: those in the building all know the deal is done. If you paid attention to anything J-Love of late: any interview. anywhere. The new contract is mentioned? The interview is shut down. It is literally entirely on lock down until they collectively decide to bring it forth. It's as simple as that.
  23. Looking super shaky in the bottom of the 9th. Bases juiced. One run has crossed. LHP Jesus Broca was called on to try and rescue RHP Felipe De Los Santos bases loaded mess and he walked the first batter he faced on four pitches. 6-5 Crew suddenly and still not a single out with the bases still jam packed.
  24. OK. Let's get Sam back to Biloxi. My goodness. Four up? Four Down. All strikeouts. BOOM. Aussie Sam says hello to Arizona!
