  1. Rund escapes the runners on the corners two out jam with a beautiful swinging K offering on a tailing sinker on the outer black. Gorgeous pitch. Great sequence from Rund. 2-0 T-Rats headed to the 9th.
  2. Let's keep the sloppy defense going. This time, LF Felix Valerio casually catches a second out in left CF. Thing is there was only two down. The runner tags easily from 2B to 3B. He would have stayed but Valerio obviously showed zero urgency on the catch. My goodness, I have had about enough of these ridiculous defensive lapses tonight. 😅
  3. AND, Peterson walks in another on four pitches this time. His evening is over. Jeepers, that was ugly ugly stuff from Peterson. Whewww. Childers will be gifted the bases loaded, one down scenario. Shuckers trail 3-0.
  4. Miller drops a routine 1-2 foul tip. But, Peterson digs deep and gets the swinging K two pitches later. Miller knew he should have that ball. Clearly frustrated. Rough 7th frame. BUT, Peterson can escape without further damage.
  5. Peterson walks in another. Neither pitch particularly close. 2-0 Braves.
  6. Peterson walks in a run on 5 pitches. 2 singles, an error, and a free pass. 1-0 Braves. Ugly inning.
  7. Second unclean scoop by Wilken at 3B. He hasn't handled much cleanly all evening. It was hard hit. BUT, again, in the context of what is going on that is a play that has to be made. He has two errors now. That loads the bases on what very much should have been a double play ball.
  8. Two consecutive hangers. Two consecutive singles. Two men aboard. Nobody down. Peterson looks very hittable here early. His first appearance since last Friday.
  9. RHP Brett Wichrowski set a career high with 6 IP. Unscored upon. Just a fantastic outing from the young man. Dominant. 2 H, 4 K. 79 pitches. LHP Nate Peterson comes aboard and immediately gives up a single.
  10. All this being said, fantastic effort from Chirino despite the WP. He buckles down for a line out to the mound, a shallow line out to Wiemer in RF, and a fly out to Hicklen in LF. No more damage. 2-2 game. In a bases loaded scenario with nobody down we absolutely take that effort despite the WP. As I've said on numerous occasions: Chirino has immense raw talent and tools. He simply needs continued refinement.
  11. The problems we consistently see in these types of scenarios for the Sounds is we so often find manager Rick Sweet going to a guy like RHP Harold Chirino. Who, as I've recounted on numerous occasions, has all the tools in the world but has zero control of his arsenal outing-to-outing. Up 0-1 in a count, he throws a heater about 4 ' up and in and it sails to the backstop to tie the game. Man. The pain is real in these contests. LOL.
  12. What's that you say? He walked another batter? What's that you say, he was pulled again from a relief outing before recording an out? Goodness gracious.
  13. Oh hey he stole 2B? You don't say. Just a silly bit of pitching here in the 8th. And, hey, while we're at it let's walk Jordan Walker. Zero control of his mechanics. Zero consistency in his stuff. Just an ugly ugly ugly season for Woessner.
  14. The Sounds have a handful of guys in their bullpen who I absolutely have zero trust in. Woessner is absolutely one of these guys. You just can not throw four consecutive balls to Victor Scott II to open an 8th inning leading 2-1. I mean, that's egregious execution.
  15. THankfully, none of this matters when muh man C Brian Navarreto is behind the plate. He guns down the runner trying to steal 2B. Thankfully, Black wasn't covering the bag 🤭,
  16. We had the failure to get the ball to Patrick covering 1B earlier on a routine bang-bang play. Now we have Black's 2nd failed catch on a routine DP ball in this series. Has to catch those balls. Just ridiculously inept defense continues for such a talented young man. Sigh. These errors are impactful. Kuhnel is now driven from the game with two down instead of an inning over. Man is now on first. Ever inconsistent and 'who knows what we're going to get' RHP Tyler Woessner will get the call.
  17. WIchrowski ends the inning with a 90 mph slider on the outer black to end the threat. Heck of a pitch. He looks fantastic now that he's settled in.
  18. Well, shiver me timbers Mr. Wilken. Thanks for the error. An absolute web gem 6-4-3 DP EBJ to Martin to Martinez Jr. Glove flip across the body from EBJ. Just one of those classic DP web gems. My goodness. Two down. Huge play as the next batter ripped a 108 mph single to LF off a hanging slider. 0-0 game top of 5.
  19. Routine error for Brock Wilken to open the 5th frame. Hard chopper. Glove hand side. Chest high. Just botched it. Lead-off runner aboard for Wrichowski for the 2nd inning in a row.
  20. AND, Muddies WIN! Ok. Let's go, men! 4-3 'W'. Love to see it. Whewwwww.
  21. Down East has pulled within 4-3 on a one out single to RF. AND, it would appear Luis Castillo is charged with a fielding error as the runner advanced to 2B. Gotta be clean in this winning moments. Let's hope they can escape with the 'W'!
  22. 10th K swinging for RHP K.C. Hunt to open the 6th. At 90 pitches, he's going to hit the showers. What an incredible outing. Just. A. STUD. Muh Man. I mean, I've been showering his praises since his very very early relief outings in Low-A Carolina. Proud Minor League Prospect Papa over here!
  23. The very good: Hunt is on the hill to start the 6th frame
  24. Kuhnel with a fantastic piece of work. He escapes the threat on a gorgeous inner black K looking to escape the sixth inning threat. 2-1 Sounds on to the 7th.
  25. Muddies managed to plate 2 in the top of the 10th. They lead 4-2. David García with the big knock.
