  1. Rivero faces another full count. He advances the runner to 2B on his first balk (thankfully, his first) BUT, who cares? He gets his 6th K and his second K swinging this frame. My goodness. As I said earlier in this thread: SO much talent in the toolkit. I need this outing like I need oxygen. Gimme gimme Jesus!😅
  2. He gets a swinging K on an inside sinker to escape the man on 2nd threat - getting the very dangerous Luken Baker, no less. Heck of a first frame by Patrick. Maybe the best first inning I've seen from him all season.
  3. Beautiful power change-up swinging K (89 mph tailing outside the zone) to get his 2nd out of his first frame for RHP Chad Patrick.
  4. Rivero opened his fourth with another K. That's now 5 K through 3 1/3 IP. Absolutely HERE for it.
  5. Every Tyler Black dig at 1B = a fist pump from this old Brewers head here. Patrick just gave up a one down 108 mph stand-up rocket double that one-hopped the wall off the bat of Jordan Walker.
  6. Meanwhile Walling is stranded at 3B after Yoshwar Garcia grounds out to 3B to end the frame. On to the bottom of the 4th.
  7. Collins K looking on a back door slider. Wes Clarke K swinging on an inside cutter. Hicklen pops out to RF on a high heater. The runners are stranded. 0-for-3 with RISP already.
  8. Walling tags to 2B on a fly out to RF off the bat of Luis Castillo. That must have gone to the warning track or deep foul territory? One down. Walling on 2B.
  9. Walling opens the 4th frame with a single and his BA is back above the Mendoza Line. Let's go, Reece!
  10. Ahhhh yes. That's a salient point! (Still dreaming of that flight to High-A Wisco despite your logical wisdom here!)
  11. Rivero works around a single to CF and a fielding error by 1B Reece Walling (his 6th of his season) getting a fly out to Yophery Rodriguez on the CF grass. Meanwhile, After two XBH's last night, Mr. Wiemer just worked the count full and took a free pass. Men on 1st and 2nd. Nobody down for Isaac Collins.
  12. We are underway in hot and humid Memphis. Upper 90's. Likely feels like 115 or more with that humidity. Black opens with a 1-1 single line drive into CF. His red hot play continues since being optioned.
  13. Rivero opens his third frame with his 4th K. On three pitches. Hoo-Ha!
  14. They're showing the Redbirds walk-off last night now that the warm up is well underway. What an atrocioius pitch by LHP Nick Bennett. I mean that was the very definition of an off-speed hanger. Good gracious. So much pain to re-watch. LOL.
  15. Guilarte struck out for the 2nd time batting lead-off tonight. Di Turi followed with a two-out ground rule double in his 2nd AB.
  16. Ground out to 3B (Guilarte) to end the frame. That's 2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K for the young Rivero. 1-0 Muddies and we are on to the 3rd frame.
  17. Full count to the next hitter. Foul ball on the sixth pitch. Pop out to 3B on the 7th pitch. Noice! Two down.
  18. Full count K to open Rivero's 2nd frame. The young man is dealing early. THIS is what he is capable of any outing. Let's hope he keeps it together. 3-of-4 outs by way of punch out early.
  19. Same, my friend. Same. We will always be the OG Walling Stans.
  20. Heck of a first frame from the young Rivero. He works around a second batter single by picking that runner off at 2B (stole 2B, obviously) and then K'ng the third batter swinging on the third pitch.
  21. Rivero opened his first frame with a four pitch K swinging. Noice! Let's keep it going, young man!
  22. It twould be a logical guess, yah? I thought that immediately upon the Barrios trade. We shall see, my friend. We shall see. It would also open up a spot for Bitonti and Guilarte and Di Turi could slide into primary SS share.
  23. Rivero pitched a highly effective 4 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K, 0 R back on May 31st vs Delmarva. Since that time? He's pitched four separate times (1 GS). 8.53 ERA over 6 1/3 IP. 2.37 WHIP. 10 BB. 8 K. 6 HB. To say this is an important outing underscores how every outing is important at present. He has found himself in the deep rough in 2024. As per usual, he can absolutely show those brilliant flashes, but the vast majority of his season has displayed his absolute lack of refinement of his tools. Boy, do I hope he can start taking steps. So much talent in that toolkit.
  24. This line-up really misses the excitement and unpredictability but immense bat-to-ball skill of Juan Baez. They just do. We've heard no updates. The injury was originally reported to not be too serious (in the very beginning of his IL stint) but it sure is taking the full breadth of time to heal. They really miss his timely hits.
