I love Chattanooga mang. I used to farm in North Georgia in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. I went into Chattahoochee on weekends quite regularly. Beautiful city in a valley.
Daniel Guilarte punched out 10 times in a 2-for-18 week at Down East. He begins his series @ Fredericksburg with a swinging K on a splitter low and outside the zone. Sigh.
I have a cobweb residue comment from last week:
I didn't say it during my reporting or in the thread but I had the T-Rats on an isolated screen and LHP Brian Fitzpatrick was absolutely dealing. Best he's looked as a Brewers. He's trim and in incredible shape in 2024. Glad to see he was recognized by Brewers PD.
I don't believe there is anyone more 'Ride or Die!' with their guys than Clancy. He has Miller on speed dial. Sees Wes Clarke as the next great backstop. Heck, he was probably responsible for planting the Frelick at 3B concept to Murphy at Spring Training. Gotta love the passion!
Meanwhile, trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 3rd frame. Two down and a man on first (DSL Crew Dos at the dish)...the DSL Crew Dos are 'Delayed'.
Not looking good for DSL games today.
The DSL Crew Uno were leading 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th and
SUSPENDED
Pena appears to have smacked his 4th triple of his DSL season. He plated 2 RBI in the process. 17-year-old Dominican RHP Ayendy Bravo was dealing - 4 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K.
Absurdly small sample size but I'm still going to share good news when I see it:
OF Frandy Lafond thru 10 Games as a DSL Cerveceros Dos has a 7-to-4 BB:K output and 5 SB to 0 CS. He only has 1 XBH (1 2B) but I'll take this approach any day of the week. Two more free passes today to zero whiffs in an 0-for-2 final line.
What a T-Rats game. 'The Lara Game'. And how. For a young man who hit his first long ball of his season, like Chris I don't know how he hit that ball let alone fair and well over the RF wall, he almost went yard thrice.
Walk-off single? That ball was crushed. Probably would have been his 2nd triple.
Interesting:
(Also, noted: he clearly states in the earlier part of the article he has no ill-will toward the Brewers organization. He just knows he entered the affiliated game late and his very clear intent is to get a MLB opportunity. That is his priority.)
Also of note in this early Box:
18-year-old Pedro Tovar continues his torrid 2024 pace. 2-for-2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (8th of the year)
18-year-old Kevin Ereu 1-for-1, 2 RBI, 1 BB
17-year-old OF Frandy Lafond 2-for-2, 1 RBI
Another nugget in the T-Rats post-game pod:
INF Jadher Areinamo's double in the third inning extended his hitting streak to 18 games. The longest of the High-A T-Rats era (2021) and the longest since one David Fry in 2019 (also 18 games).
Kind of a talented young man. Just a lil bit.
INF Juan Baez reads these sentiments and laughs aloud! Aloud, I say! Let's remember Baez had 17 errors alone between 3B and SS @ the Complex last summer before his call-up. 12 @ SS all by his lonesome. To your overall point(s) tho. Yeah, it's pretty clear they are fitting a square peg in a round hole at present.
How about 6 scoreless innings for that Shuckers bullpen. Tip our beers to Bo Bowman, TJ Shook, Russ Smith, and Justin Yeager. Those 7-4 Shuckers are in first place early in the second half with a 1.5 G lead over Pensacola (5-5). Woot woot. The OF camera curse broken, the last place shackles removed. We're on the up n' up, baby! With two doubles on the evening EBJ pushed his OPS north of 0.500. I nearly cried 🤭.
