  1. Nope. Failures to execute in the clutch for the young Pups. It certainly happens. Just happening a little too much in a Stadium send off. It's also extremely hard for this line-up to do all that much with Bitonti and Di Turi swinging the bat like they are. That is overly relying on the very young and inexperienced Handelfry, Anderson and Ebel. I think Ragsdale is showing he can get on base quite well. Payne is swinging a decent bat but he is typically leading off or at the top of the order. The Run Producers aren't really producing. Still Seven Games remaining to go for the improbable! Season isn't over yet! Encouraging pitching signs of late. We can lean into that.
  2. The Five County and Mudcats fans deserved a much better send off than this very likely last Home series played at Five County Stadium. The Hush Puppies close it out with another loss in a 1-0 Shutout. I can hear their mascot now "Woooooooooof!".
  3. I think the late rebrand for the Mudcats offense might be... 'The Hush Puppies' (Come on...trying a little reverse virtual psychology 😉)
  4. Yeah and with the way they are playing over the past month? This half looks like a replica fade alá the first half. Uncanny. I have very little confidence things magically turn around but I certainly am hoping they do and will be rooting for that outcome! How about the young men start with a victory in the last ever regular season Home game at Five county Stadium. Showing some grit and pride for the Legacy of that org and ball park. 😬
  5. This Devanney news got me all nostalgic for the 2022 Shuckers season. I recall he essentially took the starting 3B job from Ashton McGee as an injury replacement in the first game of the season @ Pensacola. Cam really never looked back. It got me looking elsewhere. It appears RHP Zach Vennarro (High Point) and RHP Kent Hasler (Gastonia) are both pitching in the Atlantic League. Hasler is having a really nice relief year with 57 K in 41.0 IP.
  6. RHP Vinny Nitolli once again will seek another opportunity. He has opted out of his second Minor League contract this season as he seeks that path back to an MLB pitching staff:
  7. Black has a 7-Game hit streak that has helped bump his August numbers to .256/.440/.339. 21 K:20 BB. A really solid month. Hopefully the best is yet to come. The 2 2B and 1 HR as the sole XBH's (3rd HR of his entire season tonight). are certainly a thing. Miles to go.
  8. Looks like the sleeping Mudcats will be 2.0 GB after tonight Fayetteville is also trailing Myrtle Beach late. They would fall to 2.5 GB.
  9. Jackson further driving Home Triple-A rehab assignments haven't really meant all that much all year. Amazing. What a couple of Wins.
  10. Well, funny you should ask. I've been eyeing this for awhile and this half has even more honest opportunity for Mudcats redemption. If you recall, the Mudcats had a first half golden opportunity vs Lynchburg. They led the division coming into that series. They were swept and faded hard and fast out of first half contention. The Mudcats lead the season series 8-6 over Fredericksburg. They also close their season with a final seven game series (rain out make-up DH) @ Fredericksburg. The division is essentially there for the taking. BUT we shouldn't overlook the fact that Fayetteville is only 1.5 GB of 1st place amd 1/2 G back of the Mudcats. Meanwhile, the Mudcats are losing their final organizational Home series vs last place Delmarva who is very clearly riding a heatwave of trade asset arrivals and draft picks.
  11. See if the Calvary was indeed coming at us hot and heavy as Ben so poetically described, in the heat of mid Summertime he could have called on DSL Brewers Gold INF Mathew Moses to part the hill of skulls in one of his fine-tuned Monday reports. As is, a fellow West-coaster myself, I salute the sacred scripture he has slung into my coffee hour! You are now christened into full-season report Land and you even got a rain out! Well done, my friend.
  12. Yes, I did mean Christian Wilkins. I certainly did not mean DT Sammy Watkins😅. Maybe the Clemson streams crossed.
  13. Just watched the Micah introductory presser. I did not realize how Giannis-like competitive he is. He came across extremely likable. Gutey says they feel very good about their DT group. I'm kind of like: Pennel and Wilkins are both just sitting out there as FA. I don't know what it would take to sign either and, well, Watkins might actually be a real life weirdo. Gutey didn't address that part of the question Andy Herman asked (ie will you look to add to the DT group from outside the room) but I do wonder if the firm belief they have in Wooden/Brooks/Wyatt/rooks isn't just GM speak. Pennel would be a perfect vet addition.
  14. I don't think I'd call 6 H in 5 IP 'lots'. The K's is very encouraging. I've also come to the personal conclusion I don't know what to make about any of our rehabbing Big League arms at Nashville in 2025. I trust Bob's stuff inherently. I especially trust it given how well his rehab has gone given the injury. He's certainly a really nice storyline right now given the injuries in Milwaukee.
  15. Thanks for sharing this here. I had lost track of this year's Draft thread. Nice to hear from him.
  16. I always respect when a player takes the unorthodox route but also bets on himself. I sincerely hope he crushes it in 2026 and earns that paycheck.
  17. You know, Garcia now has 7 K, 7 K, and 9 K under his belt in 3-of-5 outings in August. Fascinating and inspiring direction. He may also pitch the ninth. This is an interesting development.
  18. Seven individual Sounds have a stolen base tonight? That's something. Was not expecting to see that. 😅 They clearly saw something going on with the Jonathan Cannon/Adam Hackenberg battery. Previous to tonight, Hackenberg had thrown out 10-of-32 attempts. That's quite good.
  19. I mean, for real @wiguy94. Just for perspectives sake. I imagine you are likely in your 20's. Maybe approaching 30. I am 47 years old and have two children. Believe me when I say: My opinions on this board are very merely opinions. Am I prone to over-emotional hot takes in the game threads? Ab-so-friggin-lutely. Do I reflect upon those 'hot takes' and tone down my ephemeral feelings and search for positives in the Minor League Link reports I literally write twice a week all season? Absolutely. Do my opinions change on players? Absolutely. Was my Made experience instructive? Absolutely. But, again, my opinions - as they form; as they evolve; as they change - are just opinions. AND, none of this is serious. This is purely just baseball. I am a father, husband, and full time farmer first and foremost. And, I have gone on record 10's of times to state: I only want what is best for these players, their families, and the Brewers org. I definitely come last.
  20. It isn't disgust. It's simple disagreement. This is a virtual message board. And I really don't care how you feel about my own process. I mentioned several times now and praised you for it: I learned something during that over-reaction. You can either let that in or continue finding problems with how I perceive players. It makes zero difference to me. Truly.
  21. Also Birchard is very clearly a young man who knows he has the goods. He has one of the more impressive bravado-filled mound-to-dugout walks in the entire system. Probably up there with KC Hunt. 😅
  22. I mean it isn't wrong 😅. Birchard's stuff is filthy. Last night felt like the grand reward: we finally got to see what his stuff looks like when he is IN and nibbling the zone. It was glorious. He has such a violent delivery with such fascinating movement profiles. This isn't remotely a Yerlin situation or a Tanner Shears (tip one out for the splitter man long gone by now - sighs).. His walk concerns aren't wild. They are mostly just off.
  23. Oh I understand what he is saying. I still disagree with it. It is mildly misleading but I know what he is saying. In no world I live in is Made a below average defender at any level. He has 12 errors at SS over 68 games. If I wipe out the adjustment period of April, I put that quite comfortably at maybe 8. I lived through Wily Adames fielding last season. I know he thinks he can be future Plus. I also disagree with this. I think it's pretty obvious if his total package comes together he has a lot higher ceiling than Plus. His short area quickness and hand-eye coordination and his overall athleticism is just absurd. He is the very definition of an elite defensive profile. But, regardless, it doesn't matter. Made isn't going to the MLB today or this season. It's a moot exercise. But, I do disagree with it even if it is 'fair'. And, like I said, I often disagree with Longenhagen in this area which is fine. The overarching body of work of what he does is absolutely incredible and an absolute gift to baseball heads.
  24. Frankly, I am most unnaturally excited by the possibility Made and Fischer are sent upon season's to form the Super Line-Up😅 I mean EBJ is back on the IL. They 'need' the bodies.
