  1. No early morning DSL Game Logs to pant over makes Farmer Joe a dull boy. 😜 Sigh. I guess we'll just have to wait.
  2. One of the distinct reasons why you live and die with the Luke Adams development roller coaster (his freestyle swing may rub some the wrong way - ie he'll need to 'fix' that as he faces stiffer competition) and embrace the journey: He doesn't try to do too much. Which is quite amazing when you consider what a fun player Adams is - his energy and effort and quirkiness is real entertainment. He is sporting a 50:42 K:BB ratio with High-A Wisconsin. All a party to his current 0.411 OBP. Despite the power and the ability to smack the hyeck out of the ball, he is extremely patient and rarely leaves his shoes. This is his age 20 season. This is an huge plus in the plate presence department moving forward.
  3. Not to be lost in Knoth's superb outing: 21-year-old RHP Brailin Rodriguez and 20-year-old RHP Dikember Sanchez pitching scoreless and hitless 3 1/3 IP. Only baserunner came via a Sanchez walk. Rodriguez with 4 K in his 2 1/3 IP. Hitters now touching Rodriguez (thru 17 2/3 IP in the Low-A Carolina League) to a measly 0.186 BAA. Both young men are fun to watch on the mound - they have swagger and are actually quite athletic.
  4. It is really really nice to see Biloxi starting to play some competitive baseball again. #CameraGateWasReal
  5. Wait, Meeker gave up 7 earned runs in 1 1/3 IP? Did the DFA break him? <sad face>
  6. I was just digging back through Chourio's age 17 DSL season. He really didn't take off until his last month of that season and he still didn't have months quite like Peña, Madé, and Anderson. To see them performing like this so early...it gets me unreasonably excited.😅AND, that doesn't even factor in several other players having fantastic early goings.
  7. We absolutely missed the Top. We'll have to wait for a patented rebound double-top and sell before the sell-off. 😬
  8. RHP Dariel Jacquez, in just his third appearance and 2nd GS, just threw 4 2/3 IP of scoreless 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K ball. He did have a HB and a WP in there. He's 17 years old until mid December. If you were wondering why a couple of us here were absolutely jonesing to see INF Luis Pena (17 years old until mid November) back in the line-up after a very brief game and a half absence (whew), it's because, well, he's very very clearly an absolute stud. Another two-bagger. Another three-bagger. Two two-out rbi's. Caught stealing for the second time in two games? GASP. Through 48 official AB he is batting a ripe 0.500 with an equally ripe 1.293 OPS. Jeebus that is ridunkulous. Top of the 7th the DSL Cerveceros Uno lead the Dos 7-0.
  9. With a new day upon us, let's look at one of our favorite DSL stars of 2024. INF Jesus Made. You have to love the fast hands and violence he can get with this bat as it makes its way through the strike zone. Goodness. He might be a mon-star, folks: ** One thing consistently sticks out in these DSL highlights beyond the performances themselves: the excitement and support from the dugout. It's so great to hear the raucous jubilation!**
  10. I was literally just thinking about him the other day when I was randomly perusing the 2022 and 2023 Mudcats rosters. MiLB still has him with an 'Active' designation. Yet, he is clearly not rostered. As you allude to, it certainly appears to be a case of one of those random 'fade into the backdrop' informal exits. Very strange.
  11. Isaac Collins is sporting a 0.924 OPS thru 224 official AB's. 9 long balls. 3 three-baggers. 18 doubles. The competition for those last 40-Man slots is a very real thing. I continue to thank the Colorado Rockies for availing this young man to strengthen that meaningful borderline rostered depth. What he has been putting on tape since last summer is nothing short of consistently fantastic.
  12. Couldn't agree more. Of all the affiliate post-game write-ups, Nashville shares bullet point nuggets as 'outro' gems every article. It's quite awesome. I've oft-wondered how their database is compiled or how it was made to access the informational tidbits they do.
  13. Freddy's cousin, RHP Christopher Peralta with a decent 3 IP in a 4-1 DSL Brewers #2 Loss: 1 H, 1 R (Unearned), 2 BB, 1 HB, 3 K.
  14. There's no 'FREE' pass when the Wonder-Man takes the Hill. Earn your base!
  15. Hicklen's timing, as I said in my report, is just not right as he works his way back. He gets under one and pops out to CF. This a pitch after missing a heater by a good second. He'll get there. He isn't there yet. Sounds lose 4-3. Tough loss.
  16. Capra pops out to 1B foul territory. Collins laces an oppo single to LF. Hicklen represents the winning run.
  17. Er merrr gerrrrd. Garrett Mitchell just smacked an oppo inside-the-park 2-run HR. The Bulls LF'er tried to dive and catch the ball. He missed. Mitchell has wheels. Here's your look:
  18. Chirino gives up another run. 4-1 game. First pitch elevated heater hit oppo down the line. The runner tries for two but is thrown out by Hicklen. Man, that was a really poor inning from a very talented pitcher. <Sad Face>.
  19. CF Chris Roller saved Chirinos from another mistake. An 0-2 count. Hangs a dead center cut heater. Roller runs it down in a fantastic track and catch sprinting into the warning track in deep left CF. That pitch, again, can't happen. 0-2 count. Gotta get him to chase on something flirting with the zone not sitting in the meat.
  20. He then hangs a breaking ball for a double down the RF line past a diving 1B Owen Miller. These are bad pitches. Very hard hit balls. Come on, Harold my guy. You are a much better pitcher than this.
  21. A 2-0 hanger on the inside part of the plate. Oh how the disadvantaged counts can haunt a pitcher. This is Chirino's Achilles' Heel. It truly is. He puts too many men on base because he can't control his awesome set of tools. 3-1 Bulls.
  22. Chirino just gave up an absolute bomb over the RF wall. Absolute bomb. Yikes.
