  1. Not to be outdone in the bat flip arena, how about our Southern League Player of the Week, Joey Wiemer:
  2. Let’s just go there again: I LOVE players experiencing success. What a season for Tyler.
  3. Yeah @Robocaller, as @Mass Haasis alluding to above: this all happened in early 2021 when MiLB came under MLB oversight. They did the day off and six-game series change then to work toward quite a bit less travel for the teams and more recovery and health for the players. A very good development on many fronts. If you recall, at that same time, the overall number of Minor League teams reduced as well.
  4. You certainly could be right here. I just tend to see that current WR room like I now see their TE room: The Packers probably like it more than the general public. We shall definitely see - lotta off-season left.
  5. The sample sizes are just too small to really make any proclamations. He certainly didn't rake in Triple-A in 2021. He was a middle-of-the-road Triple-A player last year. He had a fantastic game against another Divisional Leader this past week that really was key in the series win in Jacksonville. What he does from here on out? Time will tell. I don't know what they do with Keston. He's a conundrum for me. We have plenty of options throughout the system, now, who play a better 2B and 1B. So, his hitting as a DH has to be 'must play' to merit a roster spot as far as I'm concerned. I'm curious to see how it plays out.
  6. Man, that's sh!tty. Sorry you have to deal with that. Ugh.
  7. Remo Williams Tremors Naked Gun 33 1/3 Joe Dirt RIP Mr. Ward. Thank you for your efforts.
  8. I'm going the route of no more WR's are signed. No vets. In my view, it just doesn't fit at present and they literally just inked their vet: Sammy Watkins. They need this flexibility to sign and maintain a PS and they'll need it for possible inevitable in-season injuries. That's my take. Other than the occasional FA signing in a try-out to shuffle the depth on the roster, I think we're done.
  9. What a Sunday for the Brewers as a whole. I'm sure Joey will look forward to that next Birmingham series - he's now hit 6 of his 9 dingers versus Barons' pitching.

  11. Welcome aboard @Jim French Stepstool! Tyler Black was red hot to start the season. He then had a brief stint on the shelf, so to speak, with a minor injury. But, clearly, he's adjusted quite fine since Frelick's promotion. Of the many players to follow, the other player to really keep an eye on in the early going, and one of the true pleasant surprises of 2022, is Tristan Peters. He's been unbelievably steady and consistent offensively and defensively. Wisconsin is just a fun group to watch right now. Joe Gray Jr. and Zavi Warren have really stepped it up these past couple of weeks. Wes Clarke always seems to step up in crucial moments. Ernesto Martinez is back from injury. Darrien Miller continues to shine. Carlos Rodriguez has played improved offensive baseball lately. It should also be pointed out: these players clearly love playing for manager Joe Ayrault. Watching his mic'd up YouTube clips it's easy to see why. He's extremely supportive and relates well to his players.
  12. I think at this point we are getting into semantics. The main point is: At this stage of their careers, and especially seeing where Ashby is having success, I simply would prefer they not be viewed as 'Starters' in the traditional sense at the MLB level. Long-relief, piggy-backers, middle innings eaters, Bullpen games etc. Whatever we want to call it.
  13. Well, yes. I am merely suggesting: use Small in the same role. Out of the pen. Neither starting - give them the glorified Burnes/Peralta etc treatment. At this stage in their careers, and given the immense depth of the rotation as is we can afford to use both as piggy back specialists. And, that is my suggestion.
  14. I am going to be the advocate for: Use Ashby and promote Small and use him as you use Ashby. Both men are lights out Lefties to piggyback at this stage of their careers. I truly think this is a winning idea. ?
  15. Jheremy Vargas just missed the Mudcats 2nd Grand Slam of the afternoon by about 3 feet. He is out 3/4 up the wall at the wall in deep center. It's 12-6 Mudcats onto the bottom of the ninth inning.
  16. Hats off to Jakob Brustoski. He struck out the side in the bottom half of the eighth inning. After a really really tough start to his Low-A career he has really made progress in the past couple weeks. I, for one, am proud of this young man for facing adversity and finding his resolve to improve and continue battling. Here's to better days ahead! His nemesis to date has really been hit batters and walks. Strikeouts are clearly on the table as he gets many. Over his past 5 2/3 ip he now has limited damage to 3 hit/2 bb/2 hb with 11 k's and 3 er. We can work with this.
  17. He was already there to start this season, my friend. BUT, the question really is: How high will he go? He entered the season ranked 96 by MLB Pipeline. OPS now at 0.980 on the season with his 8th and 9th HR batting 0.302 with his 27th rbi on the day. Just an incredibly good start to his season all things considered.
  18. How about our Nashville Sounds taking the series between Divisional leaders in fairly convincing fashion? They improve to 24-11 (!!) on the season after the 11-6 victory today in Jacksonville. What a season through 35 games!
  19. The Knarr man cometh. He is continuing his run of just lights out play. Through five complete innings: 2 hits, 1 walk, 6 punch outs. 65 pitches. 37 strikes.
  20. Can we talk about Stivan Cruz's debut? Are you kidding me? 3 ip/1 hit/1 walk/8 k's Ummmm. Whewwwwww.
  21. This week of play has Wiemer Dreamers salivating at an OPS North of 1.000 knowing he's essentially played every single day and worked through ever mini slump. This young man is such a tantalizing prospect...(I may be biased).
  22. Jakson Reetz has been remarkable this season. Love it. Devanney has been one of the pleasant surprises of 2022. And, Lutz, has come back with the from he only showed in the opening Pensacola series. Let's go Shuckers!
  23. Fine work by Hintzen to avoid further damage. It is 1-1 Biloxi and Birmingham are tied headed to the bottom half of inning 4.
  24. Noah Zavolas ran into trouble in the top of the 4th. A lead-off single followed by two walks loaded the bases. He managed a strikeout and then was replaced by J.T. Hintzen who gave up a sacrifice fly and it is now 1-1 with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two down.
