  1. There isn't much in the way of real information about his potential retirement but the quotes from the players really stand out: they adore Craig Counsell. It shows how integral he is to the guys on the field. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2023/07/16/clayton-kershaw-craig-counsell-ready-to-retire-future-baseball/70417549007/
  2. With yesterday's win, the Brewers moved two games ahead of the Reds in the standings, as they now control the tiebreaker, which means the Reds need to finish the season +1 games over Milwaukee to win the Central. Also, let's get this done.
  3. It’s a pretty big deal because game 163 no longer exists. That means the Brewers win the tiebreaker against the Reds and they essentially gained two games in the standings with this victory.
  4. Is it too cute by half to try to skip Williams with a three run lead? I might try it.
  5. I think there’s a near-zero chance Arnold follows Stearns to New York. Why would he move back into an assistant position when he has full run of the place in Milwaukee? I definitely want Arnold to stay and I think he will. At most he could move laterally to another organization but why would he do that? He has been in Milwaukee for a long time but has only been the head honcho for a single season.
  6. Just low-key rumors to this point. I suspect even the Cardinals don't know what they're doing to do right now. They have a couple of weeks to figure it out and their play on the field will likely play a significant role in that decision.
  7. People management is as important as asset management. And after last year's Hader controversy and the Brewers fading until they missed the postseason entirely, there's a lot to be said for focusing on the people management aspect when asked a question directly. Your best pitcher and probably best player asked if he was going to be traded in the middle of a tough stretch against your main competition. Answering that player's question directly and succinctly is probably the smart move.
  8. Actually, never mind, I found a back door to that page, your vote has been deleted!
  9. Actually... I can't. There was a bug that wiped out some scores from the count. We fixed that and now we can't delete votes. Give me a few hours, I'll get this fixed and then let you know when your vote has been removed.
  10. Okay, just made a significant upgrade to the page. Every name is now in blue. Clicking that name will take you to one of three places, opened in a new tab so your voting session is not disrupted: 1. The Brewer Fanatic top prospects page for that player, which includes scouting reports, stats, and related articles 2. The Brewer Fanatic draft page for players who do not yet have statistics 3. Failing the two listed above, the MiLB.com page for that player This should make quick reference of players much easier when you have questions you need to check on the fly.
  11. It's a question every Brewers fan has asked themselves over the past year: Will Corbin Burnes be traded? Should Corbin Burnes be traded? It's a question Burnes has been asking himself, reports MLB.com. And a few days ago when he saw General Manager Matt Arnold, he asked that very question. "He's not trading me", Burnes told Adam McCalvy. And Arnold is focused on adding pieces, not subtracting, as the front office did last year with the controversial Josh Hader trade. It makes sense, given that the Brewers are in first place in the National League Central and if they want to make an October push, it's hard to see that happening without Corbin Burnes fronting their rotation. 13. Got the win yesterday, which was needed. I believe it was @Brewcrew82 that mentioned one more win against the Reds and the Brewers clinch the season series win. Without game 163, that could be huge for the Brewers down the stretch, just as it was part of what killed the Crew last year with the Phillies. The unstoppable version of Burnes showed up last night out of the break. It'd be nice to see Peralta do the same tonight as the Brewers try to move into sole possession of first place.
  14. "The Brewers have never won back-to-back 1-0 games in their franchise history."
  15. This is definitely the most tense I've been about baseball since the World Baseball Classic.
  16. Elvis Peguero and Joel Payamps just being two of the best middle reliever corps in baseball, just like we all predicted in March.
  17. I think mobile voting should be fixed if someone wants to give it a shot.
  18. Peguero continues being straight-up nails, nbd.
  19. Still, Winker did what he could with those pitches, which was draw a walk.
  20. If the Brewers lose tonight, the last five minutes are why.
  21. Winker having the anti-Turang at-bat here.
