  1. Last night wasn't a pretty win but it was a win. Too bad Williams had to close out the game. This afternoon, the pitching is less compelling. One might even call it pretty bad. This feels like it favors the Reds a bit but hey, it's baseball and anything can happen. Score early, score often, please.
  2. That inning had about 100x the tension it should have had.
  3. Even the last guy in the bullpen should be able to get three outs without threatening to give up four runs in the process.
  4. Hey, they didn't strike out this time. 😁
  5. Sure, but tonight is a weird time to get upset about it. The Brewers have scored seven runs and are winning the game handily.
  6. Everybody seems really worked up about LOB in a game where the Brewers are winning by five runs.
  7. First time I've ever seen a pitcher actually get the runner with the third throw.
  8. Maybe but there is a lot of MiLB season left to play and I don't think he'll move much on midseason lists.
  9. Honestly, I hope the Brewers drub them tonight. It's my opinion the Reds need to be pushed back down to earth and beaten up a bit, they're not as good as their recent record.
  10. Wiemer crushed that. Looks like the Crew showed up to play tonight.
  11. I realize it's a controversial take but I'm a pretty big fan of how this first inning is going.
  12. To give some perspective on Chourio, MLB.com's #1 overall prospect, Jackson Holliday, is four months older than Chourio and started the 2023 season two levels lower in the minor leagues. Seeing a teenager merely hold their own against AA opponents speaks to Chourio's immense talent; it's not a disappointment. And Chourio isn't even deep into his nineteenth year. His birthday is in March. He won't turn 20 until we're almost into the 2024 season.
  13. He's still 19 years old and posting an OPS over .700 against AA pitching. That's not floundering, that's actually quite impressive. You realize the average age of a AA player is like 24 years old, right? By the way, MLB.com just updated their top 100 list like a week ago and Chourio is up to #3 overall.
  14. It's the most important series of the year. The Reds continue their most improbable run of winning one-run games. Tonight, rookie Andrew Abbott is on the mound. He's been spectacular in a brief run and goes against Corbin Burnes, who the Brewers badly need to revert to 2021 form starting *right now*.
  15. It was the result of a weird problem caused by my disabling a completely unrelated plugin but it ONLY affected people who happened to be on a specific site instance (we run 2-4 identical site instances at all times). So it was really hard to track down because I couldn't replicate it (I was on one of the good instances with no problems).
  16. That’s an absurd overpay. Chourio is a top five global prospect. Alonso is a good player with 1.5 years of control whose contract isn’t super favorable.
  17. Trade season is sneaking up on us and MLB Trade Rumors released their first list of top 50 trade candidates. The Brewers have several holes that could be filled, some larger than others. The biggest and easiest target is a first baseman, though with Keston Hiura still sitting in AAA, it feels slightly weird to go straight for a marginal upgrade like CJ Cron or Carlos Santana before giving the enigmatic Hiura another shot. With the recent and complete implosion of Matt Bush, another late inning reliever may be in order as well. How do you approach the deadline? Do you work around the margins with a Carlos Santana or do you push some chips into the middle of the table and pursue a bigger name? And which names interest you from this list?

  20. Woof. last night. My wife said "hey, both your team won!" after I flipped off the Brewers game. She obviously blinked and missed the 90 seconds it took for the wheels to come off and the Brewers lose a game they had firmly in hand. Stroman is really, really good this year. The Brewers need a different Freddy Peralta than we've seen lately to show up today.
  21. Now is not the time for rational thought! NOW IS THE TIME TO PANIC
