  1. Picking up a role player for cash is a good deal. “A hell of a deal”? Eh, maybe I overstated it but getting one win out of Miller for cash has been really useful in keeping the Brewers’ head above water.
  2. No power. Not striking out and swiping bags is only useful if you can occasionally drive a guy in. Same outcomes as Milwaukee, different path there.
  3. It has to do with your constant challenging of peoples’ fandoms. Yes, it’s passive aggressive and against the rules of the forum. Go ahead and disagree with my take on Miller, that’s fine. Don’t make me, or any other poster, part of your argument. I have anything but a thin skin. I’ve had people on Twins Daily call me a fake fan because I run a Brewers website. Gatekeeping and fandom purity tests are boring 100% of the time and anathema to running a healthy, growing community. So, please stop.
  4. I didn't expect... well, anything really, from Miller so his small burst of output was a welcome surprise. He's a 40-man insurance policy that might help the team for a season or two. Given that he's still 26 years old, hopefully he has a little more development and advancement left to untap.
  5. Other than location, which I've hammered to death and will not do so again, the lack of breeze and general "indoorsy" feel of AmFam is my biggest problem with the stadium from a baseball spectating perspective. I don't know if I've ever been as hot as the day I sat behind the visitor's dugout on an August day. It was just brutal.
  6. I tend to be in the camp where batting order doesn't matter other than putting your best hitters near the top. But I don't see much downside in moving Adames down the lineup. If he starts hitting again, you can move him right back up. We're at the point in the season where action needs to be taken, even if it's kinda superfluous and has a small chance of making an impact.
  7. OMG I almost did a spit take on that jersey.
  8. Dude, stop it with your passive-aggressive nonsense. And Miller has been really useful on a team that has been ravaged by injuries and has seen several role-players and rookies struggle. Yeah, he hasn't been good the past couple of weeks. He was good and very useful in the ~150 plate appearances before that point. And he gets bonus points for not being completely helpless against LHP. Seems like a pretty good deal for straight-up cash.
  9. Well, that has turned out to be a hell of a deal for Milwaukee.
  10. Oh yeah, he's still pretty good, he's just not Cy Young Bieber anymore. Feels a bit like what we're seeing with Corbin Burnes, unfortunately.
  11. Yeah, this version of Bieber is not the Bieber of old.
  12. A day off, new road trip, new opponent! Both teams have been underwhelming this season and it's a good opportunity for the Brewers to get back on track with Miley, Peralta, and Burnes going in the series. I'm extra invested in this series because if the Brewers do their job, they're both helping themselves get back into first place and putting some distance between the Guardians and Twins. Get it done!
  13. A fair point, though Tellez doesn't have huge splits by LHB standards so the impact would be noticeable but not enormous.
  14. I love the grill logo. Don’t care for the hat. The uniform overall is just fine. The only CC jersey I think is legitimately good is the Nationals. Most I think are pretty bad.
  15. I like the colors, I like the subtle pattern, but PGH? Why? It sounds like a banned supplement and also looks pretty dumb. I wish the CC alternates were better almost across the board.
  16. Thanks to @Seth Stohs for compiling some of these stats for at-a-glance viewing.
  17. Each team is allowed three (I think?) challenges that can be used by the batter, pitcher, or catcher. If you win the challenge, you maintain your current number of challenges. I think it sounds like a pretty solid system, though I haven't seen it live yet.
  18. Ump Scorecards only has this umpire calling pitches in two games though in those two games, his accuracy is 2nd percentile. That tracks.
  19. Somehow that inning felt like so much more than two runs allowed.
  20. I think what we're seeing is a disparity in umpiring. Most of umpiring has been getting better - and by quite a bit - over the past decade. Almost all the new umpires in the league are in the top half of pitch calling. What we're noticing is that the old guard is absolutely awful. The new umps are making that more obvious than ever.
  21. Also, Peguero, hold onto the damned ball, you nearly blew this inning wide open because you have a temper.
  22. To be fair to Ueck, I thought that Wiemer ball was gone. It was a foot from going over the fence in dead center.
