  1. Unless I hallucinated it, the Nationals were competent for a stretch of the season not all that long ago. That appears to have ended, as they're back into free fall. Time to take advantage of a bad team and whittle down that magic number.
  2. I have consistently underestimated him and continue to be wrong.
  3. I think Severino might be too much as an add-in - he's having a helluva season in 2023 - but mostly, I agree with this. Severino isn't way off the mark, he's just having something of a breakout year. I'm not particularly high on him but the Twins might be.
  4. I'm tossing around an interesting idea we may add to the handbook we're writing for the offseason. Would you trade Joey Wiemer for the Twins' Jose Miranda? I think the Twins would have to add a little to the package. Miranda is older and coming off surgery. He's not a good third baseman but has room to improve and can always play first base. He's also very cheap for some time. But given both teams' roster needs going forward and their particular strengths, it's an interesting idea.
  5. In my eyes, that's the only goal of significance. Lock up the division before the Cubs series and then use those 4-5 days to rest players and line up your postseason rotation.
  6. Surprisingly, at least to me, is that the Cubs' recent struggles are due to the offense cooling off. I'm skeptical it will stay that way for long. The Brewers just need to keep it at 4-5 games going into the final series of the year.
  7. I would split the difference. I'd give him days off before or after a team day off. I'd rest him against every lefty. I'd squeeze in another day or two or rest if it makes sense. In the final couple of days of the season, I'd give him the days off. Yelich in October is more important than Yelich today.
  8. The Brewers magic number for the division is down to 13. The Brewers can win the series against the fish or will walk away with a split. One outcome is better, both are fine at this point. The Cubs are off today before heading to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks.
  9. The last three games have been something else. It's hard not to be over-the-moon excited about this team right now.
  10. That's your opinion and that's fine, I guess, but you seem to be under the impression I'm an "investor" when I do more work on Brewer Fanatic than anyone else. I'm here all the time because I'm working on the site in some capacity all the time.
  11. Oh, this is for sending to people, not contributions. We actually almost got Dillard to write here last year. Talked to him once about it. But we’ll be sending the product to some Brewers employees for sure.
  12. Yeah, I threw that in there just in case it spurred an idea in someone’s head of a person they follow on YouTube or TikTok or something. But in general, I find “influencers” to be rather useless.
  13. The forum *was* dying. It had lost over half its traffic from 2019 to 2022. That doesn’t mean it was dead. That doesn’t mean it didn’t have value. It obviously did and does.
  14. There's obviously Curt Hogg but who are the Brewers journalists, influencers, or creators you follow and respect? We're building a journalism list for a book we're building over the next couple of months. Any help you can provide with names is greatly appreciated. Who is the lead over at Brew Crew Ball? Anybody know? Curt Hogg: Journal-Sentinel Ryan Topp: MKE Tailgate Podcast Adam McCalvey: MLB
  15. For some reason, I'm less scared of the Phillies than many. I know their lineup is fierce but it just feels like if that offense isn't hot, that team is very very beatable.
  16. And that's fair. I'm not really sure where I land with those three teams yet. I suspect how they finish will influence me one way or the other.
  17. Additionally, I just watched the Diamondbacks tear through the Cubs. I don't want to play them right now.
  18. I'm curious where fans land on which team they want to play in the first round. For now, ignore home field or assume the Brewers will have home field. I'm leaving out the Reds, Marlins, and Giants because (IMO) those are the easy choices. The three teams currently in a Wild Card spot are much more difficult to sort.
  19. We really do. I know some people groan at some of the articles for a variety of reasons but we really want the writers to come at things from "their" angle. I often disagree with what is published on this site. I'm not the only opinion in the room, nor do I want to be.
  20. It's technically possible but given how Stearns and Arnold seem to operate, it's hard to envision everybody coming back in 2024 unless something crazy happens like the Brewers win the World Series. Which I'm okay with happening, FTR.
  21. But a topic for discussion: do all of you want the MiLB recaps to stay in the MiLB forum? That's what we do at Twins Daily and it works well, as the MiLB forum is less intensely populated with topics so they fit more naturally in there.
  22. I know where the majority is going on land on this, I'm just curious how lop-sided it will be so I'm running this poll. This is happening earlier than I'd like but I really do try to listen to all of your feedback. On Twins Daily, we ran the front page article threads in the Twins forum, just as we do here in the Brewers forum. But as Twins Daily grew and our stable of writers expanded - we have a policy that mostly consists of "if you want to write it, write it" - the Twins forum became overwhelmed with articles and it pushed out user content. That's no good, we value our user content in the forums, all of you are the glue that holds the site together. Traffic isn't where I'd like it to be to make this move but if it's driving all of you nuts, it's more important to compromise now for the sake of the community than try to wait for the "perfect" time to make this transition. So my mind is pretty much made up on this already, we'll be moving the front page articles to the News forum. But I'd like to see how extreme the polling is on this just in case I'm getting the vibe of the forum very, very wong.
  23. This is exactly what we ran into on Twins Daily. I think it might be time to pull the trigger on moving articles to the news forum. I'm dealing with moving my dad to assisted living so my days are really chaotic right now, give me a few days to put up a poll and get community feedback on this.
