    He's pitched in every game the Padres had a save situation or were tied in the ninth in September. He's converted every save opportunity and the Padres won the tie game he pitched the ninth. Yep, clearly they have no faith in him.

    I'd be fine if they tried Frelick in the 2nd position and PH for him later in games if there is a scoring need and the opponent brings in a LHP to face Yelich/Frelick with Adames at #3. The best thing would be for MLB to drop the silly 3 batter rule (especially as a pitch clock will address 90% of the slow pace issues) then it would be less of a concern, but since 29 other teams don't seem to have an issue with the LRLRLR thang maybe the Brewers could too.

    I wouldn't put the Odds of a return so high for Peterson as he is a free agent and will be dealing with every team in MLB. The Brewers can't afford a bidding war on a utility player when there is little "disposable" budget. I would support bringing him back if the money is right, especially if they jettison Wong. Rogers ERA+ is so bad because he has given up 6 HR in less than 20 innings with the Brewers. Given his age I'd be concerned that isn't just a blip, but the sign that his stuff is declining. So far he's way too expensive to take that chance. If they keep Rogers and Boxberger they need to be a better option so both are shifted to lower pressure innings I don't think you can just assume they can continue in their current roles for the purposes of addressing the bullpen issues.

    That's reasonable, I've left plenty of disagreement comments to specific articles. I don't complain about the general use of articles when there is no obligation to read them like the ads, which are 100 times more intrusive.

    I agree that we should give feedback, but this was already brought up in an earlier thread. I think the first mod to see it should have locked it with a link to the previous discussion (IMHO), or rolled them together. I just ignore the Articles unless I see something I want to look at, but I also use a laptop and not a phone or tablet (both of which are nightmares to use for me).

    I think roster spot and playing time are separate issues. I think Hiura is the roster spot and shutting down Mitchel (his season would likely end soon anyways if he was in AAA), plus give McCutcheon, Yelich and Renfroe one day off a week. Basically find the AB to start him in 5 or 6 games a week.

    McCutcheon (outside of Catching) is the worst player (non-pitcher) on the team. While Mitchell has looked overmatched offensively he's put up 0.2 fWAR in 1/10th the AB of McCutcheon (0.4 fWAR). At this point it is just insane that they are slotting McCutcheon in every day while we could have literally any other player as the DH and likely get better results. If this team just misses the playoffs by 1 game I hope one writer covering the Brewers would expose their usage of McCutcheon, but that's as big a pipe dream as the Brewers winning a World Series.

    Just option Hiura. They aren't going to play him anyways or if they do it will be one game a week where he doesn't get his playing legs and then they can point to his bad 5 AB and sit him for another week.

    Gee did MLB adopt rotisserie rules for 2022 and I missed it. Doesn't matter what happened in 3 games when your elite closer is now back to hitting the strike zone and putting up zeroes. I bet you think Rogers is an elite closer, I can see that as he's a Brewer now some would think that's the case since all his faults (from evasive command, to mediocre stuff) don't matter and his results really don't matter as long as he's in the right uniform. Personally I'd take the pitcher who's given up 1 HR since being traded vs. the one who's given up 6HR or roughly 3.3/9IP. Especially when the main reason for that higher ERA (poor command) has been fixed.

    AND here we are. The 3rd and 4th ranked Brewers for fWAR are Jace Peterson and Tyrone Taylor. Yes, the utility players. The hitters having good years are not so valuable when you include their fielding and baserunning. Tellez, Renfroe, and Wong are all poster children for why the current roster construction (as you say) "makes no sense". We don't need 6 players (McCutcheon, Hiura, Tellez, Renfroe, Wong and Yelich) who are far better suited to be DH than to get regular reps in the field. You can probably tolerate Renfroe and Tellez if you had upgrades to LF, CF, 3B, and 2B, but with the current mess, the pitching won't be elite until there's multiple upgrades that includes far better defenders.

    No updates? Does that have to do with Hader pitching 5 times in September and giving up 1 run (3 saves), while our lump of Bleep has now given up 10 runs in 8 IP (oh, but only 9 earned). Maybe we should change the title to "Rodgers VERY BAD for Brewers"

    Keston leads the Brewers in wRC+ (118) even after his cold spell. Unfortunately his best role is at DH and the other option, McCutcheon, is clearly having the better year with a wRC+ of 96 and 0.2 fWAR to Hiura's 0.9 (in less than half as many ABs). Smaller numbers are better right?

    Sure the pitching has had tons of issues, but the thing that just keeps holding this team back is the offense can't seem to find a groove where they can go a week or 10 days and just smack the crap out of the ball. After a very impressive weekend against the Yankees they can't seem to extend that past 3 games and we have this.
