  1. Wondering if there’s a chance he flips some picks for extra picks next year?
  2. Looking at the draft board, I am thinking I will join those of you on team ‘trade up’ and get the DB they want in round 2
  3. This reflects my view as well. If I’m a coach like Greg Gard that is not a big player in the transfer game, I’m getting into the ear of top high school kids and telling them what happens when you choose a blue blood team. You will likely sit on the bench for a year and then watch them recruit over you in the portal the next offseason a la Jaden Schutt at Dook this year
  4. Uncle Rico is super underrated. He has a big arm
  5. Penix in the top 10 was not on my bingo card
  6. Uribe looked great that inning. Very nasty slider
  7. I believe it just means UW only pays players through their structured NIL process right now. Whereas other programs are essentially offering upfront money to players through individual donors.
  8. Not likely an option until he improves the command. It was a big issue last year too
  9. Indiana trapped and doubled Dame to get the ball out of his hands early in the shot clock. I think he only took a handful of attempts the second half but got others involved. Looking forward to see the adjustments in game 2.
  10. I’m basing my opinion on this from what I have learned from a friend who is a lawyer at a firm here in Baton Rouge that does the NIL contracts for LSU athletes. There are a few big donors that do the heavy lifting so to speak. Several other donors were willing to help when a Jayden Daniels or Malik Nabors needed to get paid. But it’s hard to continuously hit up small businesses and others for consistent donations for something that is not going to pay them back. I’m just hoping that market settles down a bit, it seems crazy right now
  11. So true. It doesn’t bother me that Chucky left at all. If you can get paid good for you. There are over 1600 players in the portal and only 300 or less have committed to play somewhere next year. Some of those players aren’t going to find homes but there are options for UW to replace the players they lost. I also don’t believe this outrageous money is going to be thrown around every offseason. There is no way Hepburn type players are true program changers and donors are not going to pony up that type of cash every year for those type of players.
  12. Yeah I have seen this now a couple times. I’m glad UW didn’t match that for a very average college PG. I don’t understand how this type of money is going to be sustainable for long. I can’t imagine this is going to be a good investment when all is said and done
  13. I can’t wait to hear the explanation for Chucky leaving. The prior portal entries all made more sense. The fact that Chucky entered the portal this late seems to me to be about his possible frustration with putting the team together for next year and the inability for UW to not close on his high school buddy Fidler. It was reported last year that Chucky was getting offers from other schools so he could have left then or earlier this year if he wanted. Timing is certainly questionable IMO
  14. I guess the organization wants to give him every opportunity to stick in the infield. He’s been ok-ish at 1B it seems, but given his athleticism I think he would be fine in left field
  15. Something to feel good about I guess
  16. The righties hit the ball pretty hard that first inning
