  1. Did anyone else notice and not like that CV's fastball/changeup velocity differential was only 5-7MPH (and sometimes as little as 3 or 4)? That's not quite enough of a difference for me.
  2. Maybe (hopefully) it's just a blister or something.
  3. Yay, top 3 on todays top 100 on the first try in "bonus" mode or whatever you want to call it.
  4. Dang. So close to the Menards big inning. That has to be the closest anyone has ever come to winning.
  5. I'll preface this post by informing everyone that I am a large Dave Bush supporter. But don't look now, with tonight's outing Dave Bush may have moved into the top 3 in the NL in WHIP (was 4th before the start of the game only .01 behind 3rd). Sure he sometimes looks like he doesn't know what he's doing, but the fact that he's only allowing a little over 1.10 baserunners an inning tells me that this momentous drop in ERA isn't a fluke, it was inevitable.
  6. This isn't helpful for what you're asking for, but I feel compelled to say it anyway: 1850-1941 is probably my least favorite period of American history. A lot of people love WWI and the Civil War, but if I were to rank American wars by my interest in them, those two would be near the bottom (honestly, I'm more interested in the Korean War or the War of 1812 than those two). I'm not saying it's not an important period, because the civil war particularly especially is important, but it just doesn't spark my interest.
  7. I've always wondered what would happen to offensive numbers if they moved the bases to 89 feet, or maybe even 89 1/2 feet. Or if they raised or lowered the mound 2 or 3 inches. I've also always been curious to see what kind of things would happen if they expanded foul territory hugely, or eliminated the outfield walls. These are all totally crazy ideas that aren't practical, but it's fun to think about what an inning would have looked like if they bases were shorter or the walls were gone.
  8. I'm at the point where I've given up blaming the scorer and just started blaming the system. Mike Cameron loses a ball in the lights but it hits his glove so it's an error (although it was changed later)... but Carlos Lee is too slow to get to an easy fly ball so it's a hit. Errors are just a stupid statistic. Either the guy got on base or he didn't, it doesn't really matter to me if he "earned" the base or not, he's there. Maybe I just don't put as much stock in finding someone to blame for the guy being there, because honestly, there are so many different variables that it's not any one person's fault on an error. Maybe the catcher calls for a different pitch and it's not hit to the same guy, maybe the pitcher throws a better pitch and and gets a swing and a miss, maybe the fielder gets a better jump on a fly ball because another outfielder is telling him "back, back" when he takes a step in initially.
  9. I've been avoiding Brewers/Cubs games at MP for years now, and it's not like I'm some middle-aged guy with kids. I'm 20, and I just can't take the antagonistic, rowdiness of the crowd. I went to a boarding school on the north shore of Chicago, and so I know a lot of cubs fans, and they aren't pleasant people. They're my friends and I like them, but for the most part, when it comes to baseball, I'd rather not talk to them. I don't like getting text messages after the last pitch in a Brewers loss to the Cubs is thrown, it's not classy, it's not gracious, but frankly, antagonistic text messages are one thing, but it's a whole different level of horrible at the stadium. A little off topic, but to me, going to the games hasn't been fun for a while now because I always feel on defense. Trying to defend a player who I like who isn't having the best night. Trying to not scoop my eyeballs out of my socket when the guy next to me says, "That Hunter Pence is a talented player." I don't know, maybe I just need a girlfriend. (almost certainly the answer).
  10. I know this doesn't count, but Ichiro is at 2,999 for his combined MLB/Japan career, with 1,721 in a little over 7 1/2 seasons in MLB at age 34. If he hits at his current pace, he could have 3,000 in about 6 season at the age of 40. It's probably a long shot that he'll keep up the pace, but even if he doesn't, he's going to get pretty close. That's pretty impressive.
  11. Double Bacon Cheeseburgers?
  12. I'll also share my story about a car going the wrong direction. I was driving northbound on I794 just about to go around the bend to turn west after coming across the Hoan Bridge and suddenly a pair of headlights is staring me straight in the face. I suspect he turned up the Milwaukee St. exit ramp thinking it was an entrance ramp. Laid on the horn and pulled as close to the barrier as possible and hoped to not die. Luckily is was about 2 in the morning so there wasn't anyone around and there was space to move away from him. One of the scariest moments of my life though, for sure.
  13. Trowekamp... I think in general 10 runs = 1 win. I'm of the opinion the number is a little closer to 9, but I think Russ would tell you it's 10.
  14. Awesome! I won State Fair tickets on Wednesday night. Can anyone say Brewerfan winning streak. Except for that pesky Tuesday, boooo Tuesday.
  15. His pitching couldn't possibly be as bad as his hitting right now.
  16. I hate Summerfest. I really do. Living in the Third Ward during festival season is a big pain. I park in an outdoor permit-only lot next to the Milwaukee River on Erie St. Tonight, I got home and someone was parked illegally in my assigned spot. I got my revenge though... I hope they enjoy their parking ticket! And before you say, "Well, you decided to live in the Third Ward"... well, I didn't. My father decided to live here because it's where he grew up, and I decided I didn't want to live on the streets. And another thing, people who come down here for summerfest do not know how to drive in a city. You can tell just by the way they drive that they're very confused as to where they are. And they don't follow rules. The police close streets down for a reason, you can't just move the barricade and drive through like it's no big deal. And motorcylces. Oh, motorcycles. Why do they have to rev their engines when they're stopped in traffic? Don't they realize that the entire Third Ward is residential, and it's 1 in the morning? Same goes for people who decide to lay on their horn when their stopped in gridlock. I hate you people.
  17. Umm, yes. But thanks for being really condescending. My point was that the name Cinco wasn't chosen because they wanted a Latin sausage and just lazily translated it's number to Spanish. I was simply commenting that Cinco has a cultural meaning, and that was why it was chosen.
  18. I'd actually recommend sitting in the 5th row or higher so that you're under the overhang of the fourth deck and therefore won't be risking having things dropped on you. It happens a lot.
  19. I always thought Cinco was a reference to Cinco de Mayo. But I could be wrong.
  20. Maybe I'm pretty far off, but A Few Good Men would seem to me to be a good pick for top 10 in the courtroom drama category, and I would think 12 Angry Men as well.

  22. How about looking at a team's % of runs scored via HR vs. team's winning percentage?
  23. I'm a UW-Madison person and a Milwaukee person and I don't get either. I feel so left you. Should I move to Oconomowoc?
