  1. For those who don't have time to follow the games, you can usually tell if the Brewers are winning or not by logging on here to see who is/isn't posting.
  2. Houser has been mediocre/poor for quite a long time now. But CC is happy because he gets to canonize him in the presser for "giving us six innings" while all but ignoring his putting us behind by five.
  3. We're talking about something I don't believe would happen. But in that event I too would rather see Feliciano at least share the job. The idea of Severino being an added bat, even a platoon one, just doesn't feel right to me given the post-season ineligibility. And I agree he doesn't fit the mold of someone on our bench versatility-wise. I'd love to flip him but have a hard time seeing someone being interested.
  4. Throw in the fact that we just aren't playing all that well for quite awhile now, save in Cincy. And that's a bad sign if we're at full strength, but we clearly aren't. Back from a few pages ago, Ashby & Woodruff ARE coming back. And there will be deal(s) made.
  5. Media: "Is Aaron going to have to miss an extended period?" Counsell: "Yeah, no, well we TOUCHED on that, and we FEEL he may need a little more time."
  6. The one that bugged me the most was the 2-1 pitch to Adames in the ninth that was called a strike because you just KNEW after getting that one called on him, the next pitch would be well outside the zone and he'd chase.
  7. Nice breakdown. There isn't much doubt in my mind they HAVE the assets to acquire even a Reynolds, if he would be made available. The question is how high in prospect capitol are you willing to go, given how important a healthy farm system is to the success of someone in our position. From a more cost-effective standpoint, Happ and/or Drury would certainly be nice adds.
  8. Key to the game. Not gonna be hindsight message-board guy, but Lauer should NOT have faced Arenado after walking Goldschmidt. Throw out past history, throw out analytics. All you had to see was the first two ABs between them tonite. The thing is, he's used Kelley in situations that weren't super-clutch, but semi-important, to the chagrin of some on here. The other option was Boxberger an inning early, but the way we roll it never even entered my thought process.
  9. Given that he has a little versatility & therefore wouldn't elbow Feliciano out of playing time, I'm surprised he hasn't been promoted to N'ville. Plenty of AAAA types they could jettison to make room.
  10. Actually, on June 21 I wouldn't want to see Counsell doing something like that. An interesting question is, would he do it in a crucial game the last week of the season? Cards really wanted this one. Would be nice if it came back to bite them the next two days.
  11. On balance I'm happy with the trade, but I do wish we could've found a way to include someone other than Binelas.
  12. Last night felt like a big win. But it could really be a "found money" feel if we find a way to take this one after starting someone who was just let go by another team. I agree you get a "not that bad" feel from Gonzalez, and Flaherty is in his initial stages of 2022, so here's hoping....
  13. I was afraid Tristan Lutz was close to joining the scrapheap of Doug-Melvinish era guys who have power potential, but do nothing else well enough to make enough of an impact and eventually the K totals just prove to be too high. He's settling in at Biloxi nicely. It's really tough to sort out, when you think about who might comprise the AAA outfield next season.
  14. It is. He's been there from time to time this season, maybe it'll happen a bit more often as 1) the organization is more than convinced of his ability to play SS & the position is pretty well covered by others at Nashville and 2) I don't see Frelick or Weimer being promoted anytime soon.
  15. Oops. I posted less than 24 hours ago that I never thought we'd see Davis up here. Lo Cain is the type of guy, if he chooses to stay in the industry, that I'd love to see remain a member of the organization for as long as he chooses. I get the feeling though that he's a little too family oriented to do the roving instructor thing. Perhaps behind a desk? Best of luck to someone who's proven to be a winner in every way.

  17. Turang. And I don't anticipate seeing him anytime soon. Save for a rash of injuries in the OF I don't believe we'll ever see Davis.
  18. I seem to remember it being out there on the back wall of the bleachers in the mid-seventies. Almost positive it doesn't go back to '70 though.
  19. Aaaaaand like clockwork, Molina just hit the IL. I see the injuries to the staff & remain optimistic that in time this is a group that can generate wins despite subpar offensive performances. And, while I have no idea what level this offense will settle at after 162 games, I see a great deal more players underachieving than the opposite, IMO. An upgrade is needed; I have little to no doubt there will be one. And I look at the NL Central & see no Mets, no LA, no Padres. I'm not supremely, we're-gonna-win-it-by-twelve-games confident, but I see no reason to sell unless things get a lot worse than I anticipate.
  20. Is that Frank Crosetti? Incorporating the grill is a cool idea. Other than that, I like the unis only if they win in them. Now if you'll excuse me, there's kids running around on my lawn.
  21. This doesn't make for good message board fodder because it sounds so bland, but they simply need to play better in all aspects. Regardless of how good the Mets are, that was a winning series-on the road, no less-that was needlessly thrown away due to bad decisions/bad defense at the worst time, plus Ashby apparently not having grown up yet. The opponent quality had very little to do with it. Agree that Ashcraft, who's really come out of nowhere, vs Alexander is an intriguing matchup.

  23. If not for Turang blocking him, I think it would be time for Cam Devanney to move up to N'ville. Also like the way Lutz has settled in this season.
  24. Not Sedar-esqe, but not a good send IMO. Actually I'm more pissed at the walks by Ashby in the 4th & 5th innings. Both to LHs, both with a lead, both with no one on base, one to the 9-hole hitter. It's almost as if he was following some kind of Mets-come-back-at-home script. just infuriating. Urias' final AB was horrible as well.
  25. Wes Clarke with 2 more RBI tonite, to give him 38 in 48 games, with a BA of .199 & on OBP over 350. Sounds like we have a budding Max Muncy on our hands.
