  1. We don't I suppose, but the way this organization rolls I find it very difficult to imagine him being able to hide something like that & get away with it. Especially a pitcher.
  2. Another overlooked aspect. He's been solid defensively too. Then the youngster who might be in a moment a bit too big for him, and he HBP's him. Just a perfect freakin' storm in the ninth. Would anyone like to blame the fact it was Severino behind the plate?
  3. Knebel had the bad stretch in 2018, was sent down for essentially a mental break & came out of it with flying colors. The good news is this is nothing physical. Still serious because of the nature of his role. The break is coming at a good time for him, how he emerges afterward is anyones' guess.
  4. It's a hell of a coincidence if that isn't it. I suspect you're correct.
  5. This post isn't about Hader, the failure there was obvious. I'd just like to point out something that will probably be overlooked, and understandably so. Since we took the 5-2 lead, our ABs were absolutely atrocious. It was almost as if we figured we had enough runs & went to the plate with our Helmets, bats & batting gloves but left our brains in the dugout. We shouldn't have needed any more runs but boy was it obvious.
  6. That's where I'm at. Another thing I like is that he should be the SS behind Adames. Even with the versatility Urias possesses I think it'll be good for him to just entrench at 3B. He isn't playing any 2B (that I know of) in Nashville but that shouldn't be much of a transition.
  7. I also like Peters, but yeah I'd put Black a little ahead of him. Definitely hope he stays in the Milwaukee system. Also, great to see Mitchell back in the Biloxi lineup.
  8. He hasn't shown up in a box score for Nashville since being demoted. Now I learned he's physically still with the team in SF. There's a lot to sort through--the trade deadline, will Taylor make it back soon, the 3 catcher thing, and now Hiura. This might be the most interesting trade deadline since Sabathia. The guy has some thunder in his bat, no doubt. But when you take in the full picture-----yeah, he's having his best season since his rookie year, but I think that's an indictment of the ugly 2020-2021 stretch more than anything. Even with the DH now available I believe they feel that he's just not a fit here & they're looking for a trade partner.
  9. That's actually more important than most of the stuff brought up in the last two pages of this thread. That, and find a way to jettison a catcher.
  10. Well, I illustrated the excuse. Not even saying I fully agree with it, but I understand it. Looking at offense only, both these guys trump Davis. But Davis has to play. Looking forward (again, long view, which is what they do) they probably have a little more confidence in McCutchen from now til the end of September than they do in Hiura. Especially when you consider both ends of the floor.
  11. I feel for Hiura, being sent down while he's been hitting had to suck. The 3-catcher thing is a roster albatross. Let's not forget, this organization has put a premium on run prevention, and it's been successful. That's why Davis is still here--it's a premium position where defensively there would be a big dropoff from him to the other current options. That's a large part of the problem with how they view Hiura. He has some versatility, but there isn't a spot on the field you can put him where you don't hold your breath. Very few teams do the "primary DH" thing like you used to see in the 70s, so that (along with a sub-par arm & the K's) will probably, sooner or later, spell the end for him here. I guess you could trace this whole roster mess to Severino getting suspended & the organization feeling they needed to pick up Caratini. But it wasn't like trusting Alex Jackson to be the backup for a week or two ,It was an 80 game thing. It's certainly caused more problems than I envisioned.
  12. My best guess is, unless there's a miracle and the team actually meant that he's REALLY day-to-day, Yelich will soon be IL'd and replaced by 1) Taylor; if he's ready to come back (can't help but think that's doubtful) or 2) Hiura. That takes Yelich 2 or 3 days past the ASG, thereby securing our mandatory "He can use a couple more days" mantra.
  13. The WAY they get their runs. That's a key phrase that I totally agree with.
  14. Or split the difference & play all home games at The Dells.
  15. Counsell is pretty adamant about how he wants to do things. It's either having courage of his convictions, or being pigheaded & inflexible, depending on whether the team is winning or losing. This hasn't been an attractive stretch for him. Very interesting 2-and-a-half weeks coming up.
  16. Before long he'll be back up or traded. This certainly wasn't the day to have him off the roster, as it turned out.
  17. Probably not, no, and yes but very doubtful that'll happen.
  18. The people who can't get 2018-19 out of their heads will always be frustrated by Yelich. The change HAS been drastic, so it's understandable to a point. Personally I'm with Outlander; if he reinvents himself to what he's been since moving to the leadoff spot & does it well I'm fine with that.
  19. If there's anything that would cause Mitchell to shake off the health issues & start hitting again like he did in A-ball, this would probably be it.
  20. The more I look at it, the more unlikely it seems to me that they'll be able to upgrade CF via trade. This idea would've elicited a definite "no" from me up until a few days ago, but I'm beginning to wonder if they'll consider Frelick. He's been hitting since returning to the lineup.
  21. One of the people on the cab squad must be a catcher. For whatever reason.
  22. I heard the rumors crop up yesterday. If we have a stretch coming up in the next 15 games similar to what we turned in during the last five, I think it's a real possibility. Otherwise they're competing for a playoff spot & that means they'd want something substantial for NOW as well as later, which makes it more difficult when dealing with a contender. So I'd put it in the possible but unlikely category. I do believe they're open to fielding offers, however. As to the above trade, it just doesn't sound to me like something the Brewers would do in the here & now. That doesn't mean I don't like the talent mentioned.
  23. Lining Burnes & Woodruff up back-to-back makes sense as you get to the tail end, and of course post-season. But I think there's ample time to configure that. Just don't like the timing of this.
  24. I'm not sure how important that is, but if they feel it is then how difficult would it be to line it up that way if Burnes goes Sunday?
  25. True. But it would be pitching a bullpen session while getting in one start this week, as opposed to two.
