  1. I thought when he was called up in September of 2009 he was hurt, but didnt tell the BRewers and therefore was placed on the Major League DL and accumulated service time. Then he pulled the same stunt in the spring.
  2. Im sure Gamel will show up to big league camp and then right before he gets sent down will come down with a mysterious injury that allows him to collect a big league check for 3-4 months. Isnt that what happened the last two years?
  3. I love how GM's get 2 years to turn a franchise around these days.
  4. I see at least 6 guys who should be inducted. Voters need to remember this is a team Walk of Fame, not a MLB Hall of Fame. Mike Caldwell, Teddy Higuera, Ted Simmons, Jeff Cirillo, George Scott for Brewers Adcock and Logan for sure, probably Crandall and Buhl as well.
  5. Sheels.
  6. So my son (read: "I") got NHL 11 for Xmas and it has bypassed MW2 as my most played game. We are having a blast playing together in Season Mode as the Penguins. My son can play with the NHL 94 controls and I can play along with him with the regular controls. Things I like about this game is that the games are short, and there is constant action, so the games dont feel too short . When I play on my own I play on Rookie level and I am finding that while I have lost a few games, lately I am winning games 7-2 or 9-0. After playing about a dozen games I am finding that I can really only score on slap shots and wristers and snap shots are easily saved. Also, at least on Rookie level, it is too easy to split the defense with my Center and go right toward the goalie for a relatively easy shot. Next, the opposing offense often dumps the puck into the zone and I just go corral it and start another break. Also the time of possession or time on attack, whatever it is called, is usually skewed heavily to my favor some times 17 minutes to 3 minutes or something in that nature. Shots on goal are also 2-1 for me. So besides the fact that I need to bump it up to a harder level, what other issues are people finding with this game? All in all, I think it is fantastic.
  7. those 90s uni's were some of the worst and least imaginative I have ever seen. The logo was terrible and uninspired and the colors made me want to vomit.
  8. Id prefer 2001 Jim Edmonds over Dickerson. 2011 Edmonds? Probably not.
  9. Betancourt is really the only thing that depresses me about the Brewers offseason. Id rather have Adam Everett in the field and just take the outs. Hell, I'd rather the Brewers infield play with cats in their pants before sending Betancourt out there.
  10. At this point if you were to rank the starting pitchers for the Cards and Brewers it would probably look like this: 1. Wainwright 2. Greinke 3. Carpenter 4. Gallardo 5. Marcum 6. Garcia 7. Wolf 8. Westbrook 9. Narveson 10. Lohse Wainwright and Greinke are more or less tied with Wainwright getting the nod for the better 2010 season and experience in the NL Central. Gallardo and Carpenter the same thing, more or less tied but a slight edge for Carpenter due to having been a more complete pitcher more recently.
  11. Of course the Chicago Press sees this trade as a win for KC. http://www.chicagotribune...0101219,0,5208305.column
  12. The only way that happens is if he gets off to a slow start and then gets a season ending injury and we offer arby and he accepts. That isnt really good news for 2011.
  13. Im wondering about Logan Schafer and Eric Farris, as well as Luis Cruz.
  14. I dont know much about Betancourt, but reading this thread I am expecting to see Ronnie Belliard fielding with a frying pan in the field, and Royce Clayton at the plate. Is that at all accurate?
  15. Espn.com report that Zack Greinke has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Sunday morning
  16. My concerns with the rumor: The trade must not be official yet and there must be some haggling over some term or two that has prevented either organization from announcing it. That means that hang up could potentially kill the deal and the longer we go without official confirmation, the better the chance the rumor never happens. It cant be as simple as a contract extension or no trade clause type of stuff or even physicals because deals are announced all of the time with those matters pending.
  17. One the one hand, out minor league system is toast. Which stinks. On the other hand, if Melvin and Attanasio dont go cheap they can reload in a hurry with two picks in the top 15 this June and presumably two picks in in the first round plus a sandwich pick in the supplemental in 2012 draft after losing Fielder. That could be 4 very high draft picks tossed into the system. But yeah, if this is true, I wont be checking in on the Power 50 much this season, hopefully the big club gives me no reason to change that stance.
  18. I like how Bill Shanks likes this deal for the Braves because now the Braves can sign Greinke in 2013.
  19. Rotoworld sums up my skepticism nicely. A Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel blog reports that the Brewers could be acquiring Zack Greinke from the Royals for Alcides Escobar, Jeremy Jeffress and Lorenzo Cain. We have a very hard time believing there's anything to this report, but since it's all over Twitter, we can't not cover it here. Expect denials soon.
  20. I dont know, the Marcum deal was confirmed about this same time on a Sunday night. It just seems to me that if it were this close to being done that SOME other outlet would have their fingers in it. But at this point, all is quiet.
  21. This rumor doesnt sound legit. If the blogger is making comments like "not sure if I should go with it" and he doesnt want to look foolish, then why not report the rumor as "I have heard Milwaukee and KC are talking...here are the names...nothing is imminent"??? That way, it reads as speculation...not, they made a deal and it will be announced Monday. By the way, the "it will be announced Monday" part is the part that tells me this rumor is false.
  22. True Grit? Is this movie about Ned Yost?
  23. The best thing to happen to Doug Melvin's job security is the lack of market for Fielder. It is causing DM to use some prospects to get back pitching (Marcum) without hurting the MLB team. If he isnt careful, it could lead to a team that could contend for something in 2011. Meanwhile, we will have 2 top 15 picks in this years draft to replace the departed prospects and when Fielder leaves after 2011, another 2 picks (albeit numbers 15-30) and a comp pick to replenish again in 2012.
  24. nope. If they havent been mentioned as an official suitor, the mystery team is probably the Nationals, who would probably pay Lee about 35 million a year if the Jayson Werth contract is any barometer.
