    The audacity, man...Where's the civility police again??? The poster literally said that it was a little light and the Brewers would probably have to add a better piece than Small. But a top 100/50 prospect, a top 200 prospect/2022 first round pick, and two organizational top 30 prospects is a reasonable start. Padres would probably ask for Gasser back instead of Small, but it's a decent framework.

    Yes, and did you know they all had sky-high trade value when they were top prospects, as Chourio currently is? Also, if you need help: strawman: a fallacious argument that distorts the opposing stance in order to make it easier to attack. That's what you did when you implied that people aren't thinking McMahon could fetch nice prospects in return. He could potentially. Just not prospects the value/caliber of Chourio.

    I meant top 5 and accidentally posted top 2 when I initially made the post. He's #4 in fWAR for catchers behind Murphy, Heim, and Smith. And ahead of Rutschman, Raleigh, Realmuto, etc.

    Now, you're creating a straw-man. No one ever said that McMahon could be had for pennies. Just that his trade value is way less than Jackson Chourio's and that the Brewers would say "thanks, but no thanks" if the Rockies pressed for that.

    Jackson Chourio is a consensus top 5 prospect in baseball. That’s not fan opinion, nor is it overvaluing him. That’s an incontrovertible fact. His trade value is a lot higher than Ryan McMahon’s. Your failure to grasp this is indicative of your stated lack of knowledge about prospects. Here’s a word of advice: stop talking about them. Then, you won’t sound as ridiculous as you are right now in saying that the Rockies would be justified asking for Chourio in exchange for McMahon.

    Hunter Renfroe was paid in arbitration this year based on being a 2.7 and 2.4 WAR player the last two seasons. Joc Pederson was tendered a qualifying offer based on his huge offensive season last year (144 wRC+). Their current WAR, which you're listing, has zero to do with how they're currently being paid. I'm surprised you didn't include Stephen Strasburg who's getting paid $35 million annually. Surely, that's the cost of 34 innings and a -0.5 WAR the last four years, right? I get a chuckle out of reading posts from you seemingly every week in which you talk about prospects like you know them, when you've previously stated how you don't follow the minor leagues. There's a reason why everyone here is laughing at your claim that the Rockies would be justified in asking for Chourio in return for McMahon.

    The fact that you're throwing Antoine Kelly into the discussion to draw some kind of equivalence to Jackson Chourio is hilarious. Stop talking about minor league players. You yourself have admitted that you don't follow them. Also, nice using post-trade results to make a claim about a player's trade value.

    Yes they would. Chourio is a consensus top five prospect with a median surplus value of around 70, per BTV, McMahon has a median surplus value of -2.1, with his hitting #s benefitting from Coors Field and a double digit AAV. Even if you think that sells him short (and I think you could make the case it does). That's still an astronomical difference in trade value.

    They had the exact same winning % from memorial day to the deadline as they did from the deadline to game 162.... I meant top 5 catcher with Contreras. And he has been, considering he's top 5 in fWAR. He's been one of the best defensive catchers in baseball this year. Brewers have made him into one of the best all-around catchers in the game. Payamps has also performed like a top 10 reliever in baseball this year...Always had the stuff. It was just a matter of the Brewers' staff coaching it up.

    Here is what the Josh Hader trade has effectively become: Josh Hader for Robert Gasser William Contreras Joel Payamps Justin Yeager That's a top 5 catcher, a top 10 reliever, and a top 100 prospect, in addition to a high-strikeout "filler piece", for a 1 inning reliever with 1.5 years of control. I know some argue that we missed the playoffs last year because of the trade (I disagree and I think the evidence strongly backs that up), but you can't say that the decision to trade Hader when we did has become anything other than a massive success and a boon for the future of the franchise. Credit to Stearns, even bigger credit to Arnold.

    Yeah. I’m not saying Miller should be our 1B because his bat isn’t good enough. I’m just saying that Hiura probably isn’t our solution there, either. He’d be better off at DH.

    We'd probably benefit more from playing Bellinger at 1B instead of Owen Miller.

    The same thing applies if you extend it across the 800 innings he's played there the last two seasons. It's been his most frequent position in the majors. He's got excellent range for a first baseman and has gotten to balls that Rowdy could never dream of getting to. "Eye test" is deceiving, because he's been unable to scoop up a couple of throws, whereas Rowdy was generally able to do that well. But there's much more to fielding the position.

    That's a fallacy. Among players with 150 innings at 1B this year, Miller is #1 in Fangraphs dWAR, #2 in UZR/150, top 10 in OAA, and top 12 in DRS. He's quite literally been among the best fielding first basemen in baseball.

    Thing I said about NYY applies a lot to MKE and Am Fam, too. He can have success at a ballpark like that given his approach and negate some, if not a lot, of the expected regression. Case in point, he's got a .333/.391/.581 slash in MKE... I wouldn't give up any of our top 5 prospects for him, but you could maybe convince me to part with a Carlos Rodriguez or EBJ.

    Something tells me he’s going to get traded to the Yankees and negate a lot of that expected regression due to that ballpark's short porch and his heavy pull-side fly ball approach.

    To be fair, Counsell cares about defense, (as he should given our roster construction), and Hiura is an absolute butcher in the field. And it's not like Hiura (post-2019) has been that much better of a hitter than Miller. xWOBA's from the last two season are very similar and Miller makes a ton more contact than Hiura.

Best it's been since we were briefly ranked #1 in 2016. And we haven't had to go through a full teardown like we did then.

    Pretty even this year. .799 OPS home vs. .783 OPS away. With McMahon, a lot of his value comes from defense, too.

    Ryan McMahon is toward the very top of my list of who would most help the Brewers at the deadline. Definitely would fit in with the run prevention philosophy. If we can rip them off like the Cardinals did with Arenado, let's do it.

    Need at least two above average (100+ wRC+) bats between the following positions: DH, 1B, 3B, RF. Preferably run producers that you can slot in the middle of the order.

    I'd take either. O'Neill not close to as bad as he started off the year. More upside than Perkins or Tapia. Cheaper than Carlson, too.
