  1. So, Voit's entire AAA stats this year don't matter, but we can choose specific games with Hiura and ignore, for example, his post-injury performance? Interesting... And Voit is relevant considering it shows how AAA stats mean very little, and that continuously highlighting them doesn't really help your argument as much as you think it does. Serious question: are you related to Keston Hiura?
  2. Again, if you're going to compare Adames and Hiura, then you definitely have to add defense to the equation. Adames' place in the organization and lineup is relatively secure right now because he plays GG-caliber defense at the most important position in the infield and he has a longer, more stable track record with the bat than Hiura. I already acknowledged your DH argument. It's a tall task to add a DH-only player to the roster, given CC's preference to rotate players at DH (Yelich, Contreras, etc.), and especially when Tellez is due activated in the coming days. And Luke Voit does, in fact, have an OPS over 1.000 in AAA. (1.035 in 156 2023 AAA ABs). Why posting Hiura's statline every time he has a good game (while conveniently ignoring his statline since he came back from injury) doesn't help your argument.
  3. Pointing out every time Hiura has a good game in AAA is of such limited relevance. Luke Voit is OPSing over 1.000 right now, for example. They may or may not call him up. Looking like not at this point. And Hiura did have a .765 OPS last year. But that comes with the huge caveat of a 40% strike out rate, which is completely unsustainable. The two prior years, they handed Hiura the starting 1st/2nd base gigs, and he was a below replacement level player both years. That's how he ended up in this limbo to begin with (as well as being so horrific in ST to the point where they had to remove him from the 40 man). Your "go to" when someone points out the limited relevance of his AAA stats seems to be to point out Hiura's OPS last year and compare that to Adames. Except Adames and Hiura are not comparable as one plays GG-caliber defense at a premium position and the other doesn't play defense at all. Adames was even benched the last two days and has been moved down from 2nd in the order to 3rd in the order and now down to 5th. I don't see why he won't continue to fall in the order if he keeps this up. But he'll stay in the lineup for now because he has the defense to fall back on and a track record that spans his entire career. Hiura doesn't have that, with his track record of being a replacement to below replacement level player. You know who had a .767 OPS last year? Rowdy Tellez. That's who you should really compare Keston to. And Rowdy's OPS was over a much larger sample size than Keston's. He's obviously been below that this year, but he was also battling through injury. He's going to get the chance to DH against RHP within the next week when he comes off the IL because he's been better as a hitter than Hiura with the Brewers. If Tellez continues to falter, then you'll really have an argument. But what's clearly been hurting Keston to this point his lack of defensive versatility/ability. That's a killer for a team so heavily geared towards run prevention as the Brewers are. CC likes to have the flexibility to rotate guys, which makes a DH-only roster spot for Hiura a tenuous proposition. Winker only got his spot because they traded for him, and he had a lengthy track record of being an above-average to elite hitter every season of his career until 2022.
  4. He hasn't even been on the team for a week yet.
  5. No need to take ground balls with Santana here. Just focus on hitting.
  6. I'd be very understanding if I were a Reds fan. Trading away prospects now could reduce your ceiling over the next 5 years.
  7. Maybe. Quero's still on the IL for at least another week, though.
  8. For this season, I don't like this trade at all. I wanted Urias up as the everyday 2B over Turang and Monasterio. Now we're stuck hoping Turang has a miraculous power outbreak. We'll see who the pitching prospect is.
  9. Another great thing about the Canha trade: Joey and Sal platoon....
  10. Nice thing about Canha is it'll allow us to have less lineups with Turang and Wiemer at the bottom of the order.
  11. This puts me on the side of we need one more bat.
  12. I can see folks being somewhat disappointed with this move, but I'll tell you what. That .370 OBP since June 1 looks really nice in our lineup. I still think we need one more "bopper" in the middle of the order. We'll see. Jarvis is just a guy.
  13. Helps us tonight and could really help us for the rest of the season. Love it lol
  14. I could see Chourio going to AAA as prep for possibly making the OD roster next year. Brewers would get the comp pick if he wins ROY.
  15. 2023? That’s entirely AAA #s. Remember Luke Voit? He’s homered in 5 straight games in AAA and has a higher OPS than Hiura…That meant absolutely nothing when his spot came up in the order for us.
  16. Yes, and you’re completely ignoring what we saw from 2020 to 2021 and the 42% K rate last year or AAA #s since returning from injury. That’s the context that is missing from your posts whenever you post Hiura’s stats from a single game or his OPS in 20 games at DH, etc.
  17. Stats with context. How refreshing.
  18. Yes. I completely forgot about him. He's perhaps the likeliest to go.
  19. Carlos Santana will obviously have to be added to the 40 man and the major league roster. There is a 40 man spot available due to Jason Alexander's outright. On the 26 man roster, the most likely candidates for the option are Toro, Perkins, and Owen Miller. I also wonder if Urias won't be recalled soon, perhaps as early as this weekend. He has really heated up in AAA and with his track record in the major leagues, he's gotta get the shot in the infield.
  20. Keston Hiura at time of callup: 22. Jackson Chourio right now: 19 and youngest player in AA by several months.
  21. If I'm not mistaken, the Brewers have the weakest remaining SOS in the NL Central. Which will only get weaker after this weekend. https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remaining_schedule_strength
  22. Yelich’s full no trade clause makes this about a 1% likelihood. Both player and organization committed to each other for the length of the contract when they signed the dotted line.
