  1. I hope not. Those guys did their jobs keeping us somewhat afloat while we had major injuries/underperformance from our rotation, but they're probably 5+ ERA guys moving forward. Can't have that in a tight race. If we wanted a 6th starter, Gasser and/or Lauer would be the way to go with their relatively higher upside.
  2. Easily the Cubs. Because we already have the tiebreaker over the Reds and the Reds have been overachieving the whole season and are coming back down to earth. Cubs have a deep lineup and an easy schedule that will give us problems. We'll have a relatively easy schedule, too, once we get past this week, but the division lead will likely go down, if not be erased.
  3. Minor injury to his hand. Should be back this week.
  4. Now, that we're talking about Hader, it makes me wonder which teams are going to be willing to fork over $100 million for a reliever this winter. I wonder if it will be the Cubs. That would set up nicely for them with the talent they have coming up through the minors. They could probably still resign Bellinger, too, if they wanted. Of course, then you have the obvious candidates like the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Giants, etc. Looks unlikely he'll be going home to the Orioles or DBacks.
  5. He wants his $100 million paycheck this winter first.
  6. I trust him more simply because he has the last two seasons of sterling work in the back-end of the rotation. The other two have no track records of being good starters (Rea) or have been seemingly washed up going on a couple years (Teheran).
  7. If they believe Lauer should be good to start in short order (his velocity is back), then I agree getting him relief action is the way to go. I just don't want to have to rely on Rea or Teheran.
  8. I stand corrected. But they should still decide shortly here whether they want to get him up as a reliever a la Woody, Corbin, Freddy, in which case, he should start getting relief innings, or if they want him stretched out as an option if one of the starters gets injured.
  9. And if it's against the Cubs, then being the home team for all 3 games won't even matter.
  10. Yeah. I think they need to decide soon if they want Gasser stretched out through the end of the season as the 6th rotation option or if they'd rather go Lauer/Rea/Teheran. If the former, then they should start getting Gasser some relief work in AAA. Would be a way to manage his innings, too.
  11. Brewers back to having the third best record in the NL, too.
  12. With Mejia doing this, who ya got for us next in that last bullpen spot @Joseph Zarr?
  13. Sad thing is now we need the White Sox to start winning again. Hopefully Robert is back on Tuesday.
  14. Hopefully the team sends Woodruff to Arlington early.
  15. I'll be optimistic and say 6-0 is the absolute ceiling next week. Dodgers and Rangers just haven't had to face the Brewers.
  16. Yelich in a slump: 1/3, 2 BBs, 2 RBIs, 1 RS. What you need from your $25 mil man.
  17. We'll have Woody, Peralta, and Miley going. So hopefully one at least.
  18. That getaway loss against Washington hurts.
  19. Would like to see him throw some strikes with that slider. But, yes, a drastic improvement from Monday.
  20. First Canha. Now Santana. Don't they know we did terrible at the deadline!
  21. Yeah. I don't like the thought of Chafin against the top of the White Sox order.
  22. I thought we didn't get anybody at the deadline...Canha="Can't hit", right?
  23. Just terrific from Freddy. Stuff nowhere near as crisp or consistent as Monday, yet he pitches 6 shutout.
