  1. You got your answer with McCalvy's article. Hiura has gotten worse on defense, which limits him to DH. As for his bat, their scouts and underlying data say it's highly unlikely to translate to the big leagues and that we'll see more of the same with 40% K rates and unpredictable production. They note his recent changes, though, so we'll see what happens at the deadline.
  2. Hiura does not have the best offensive #s in the system.
  3. I actually think we should trade Chourio for Suter.
  4. McMahon is definitely high on my list. He’s not a star with the bat like Arenado was/is, but he plays GG defense at 3B and is an upgrade over pretty much every other hitter in our lineup save for Yelich and Contreras.
  5. Well, there’s your answer people.
  6. I think the Brewers have a better handle on Ashby's situation than we do. With his contract, they wouldn't put him out there unnecessarily.
  7. Aaron Ashby says hello. Plus at least one of our SPs is going to be moved to the bullpen when Woody and Miley come back.
  8. Chourio's ceiling is top 5/10 player in baseball. The Brewers haven't had one of those homegrown since Braun. Those other prospects, as nice as they are, don't have that ceiling. I care about talent more than position.
  9. I see little basis for a 60 point jump in BA right now.
  10. Oh, I'm by no means labeling him or writing him off at this point. It would be pretty silly to do so considering he's only a rookie. But I'm seeing some pretty ominous warning signs from him at the major league level that have me beginning to question whether he will ever be able to hit enough to be more than a replacement level player.
  11. Wouldn't shock me at all. He's pretty much a lock at this point to end up at Nashville before the end of the season, so it's not like he would be skipping AAA entirely (like Soto).
  12. Yeah. A lot of people are assuming we can just go ahead and trade Adames in the offseason and install Turang at SS and not skip a beat. I don't see that at all. At this point, I'm not sure if Turang can be a starting SS on a contending team, unless you have multiple elite bats at other positions (which we don't right now).
  13. Right now, obviously not. But I'm becoming increasingly concerned about him in the future, too. He's never been a loud contact guy, but in the minors he was at least able to hang his hat on the fact that he did make frequent contact and that he was able to draw walks. He's got none of the three going for him so far in his MLB career, which leads to a wRC+ of 59 and one of the worst hitters in baseball. Unless he makes some changes and starts to make contact/draw walks with experience, I think there's a very real possibility that he will become yet another Brewers' first round bust.
  14. "Homey"?? No, but you said the Rockies would be justified in asking for Chourio. Just as "idiotic" from my perspective as the trade proposals you're criticizing as idiotic.
  15. They can remove Bennett Sousa from the 40 man for Wilson, too.
  16. 9% K rate in July......403/.431/.694 And you're not talking about slowing down a little. You're talking about grinding to a halt.
  17. I'll tell you what, over the past month, Chourio hasn't been showing many holes in his swing... Unless his development stunts significantly over the next year, there's no way he's spending two whole years in Nashville. He might very well end up in Nashville by the end of the year.
  18. I'm on board with Jeimer Candelerio and/or Cody Bellinger. Yelich LF Contreras C Bellinger 1B Candelerio 3B Tellez DH Adames SS Frelick RF Owen Miller/Brice Turang 2B Wiemer CF That could potentially take us deep into the postseason with Corbin/Woody/Freddy (the good version) and our bullpen. We almost certainly wouldn't have to part with Chourio, Mis, or Quero.
  19. OUT: Jesse Winker, designated for assignment. IN: IF Tyler Black, contract selected.
  20. Why would the Brewers have handed the DH job to Hiura in 2022 instead of signing McCutchen after his horrific 2020 and 2021 seasons?
  21. I think Steamer's selling him way short. Specifically, with that OBP.
