  1. Huh? He's pitched 3/4 and 5/7. 25 stressful pitches last night.
  2. Nats retake the lead late on a homer, too.
  3. The Cubs are the only team in the NL Central with a positive run differential. They're better than their record. Only way this team is going to sell is if they do something like lose 6/6 or 5/6 against the Reds.
  4. The last two spots in the bullpen have been killing us all year. And then the 6 man rotation is just exacerbating it.
  5. Safe. More batted ball luck for the Cubs...
  6. Wonder if Swanson opens up a spot for Yeli on the all-star team...Doesn't have to be a position for position swap.
  7. Renfroe deal. Fun fact: While everybody was lamenting over the "trash" we got for Renfroe, Peguero has been worth more in bWAR than Renfroe...
  8. Lane Thomas gives the Nats a 2-1 lead over the Reds.
  9. Caratini benefits from another missed strike 3..
  10. I'm pretty sure I never said the Brewers' offense was anything but bad. Just that for all the complaining, they've done a really good job over the past week. Should be acknowledged.
  11. Some combination of Bryse Wilson, Elvis Peguero, Joel Payamps, and Devin Williams.
  12. Not this series. Or the Pittsburgh series.
  13. Yep. Tauchman took advantage of some breaks last night. Wiemer and Yelich did the same today.
  14. For as much complaining as goes on about the Brewers' offense, they've done some great work this series, including against two all-stars in Steele and Stroman.
  15. Makes up for the Cubs' batted ball luck in the 9th yesterday.
  16. At least this year it's statistically true.
  17. It's not just the refusal to draft a 1B. That's just one part of Stearns'/Arnold's deemphasis on the position. It's also the lack of resources they devote to figuring the position out, including in FA and trades. Cris Carter, Eric Thames, Jesus Aguilar, Justin Smoak, Rowdy Tellez. These are all guys they've picked up off the scrap heap or who were cast-offs from other teams.
  18. Again, 84th percentile in OAA...That leads all qualified NL left-fielders. Of course, he would have the worst range of our OFs considering Wiemer and Perkins are both CFs and among the best defenders in the league. Among LFs leaguewide, he's been the best or second best.
  19. Seriously, though, this is what happens when you refuse to draft corner infielders and pretty much exclusively draft up the middle.
  20. The stats disagree with you. He's been the best or second best LF in the National League this year, depending on which metrics you look at.
