  1. Two great signs: 1) Yelich barreling up and elevating everything. 2) Willy going oppo.
  2. Suwinski is Ronnie Bass/Sunshine from Remember the Titans...
  3. And Yelich wallops one in his first at-bat tonight. Unfortunately, right where the center fielder was positioned.
  4. Christian Yelich since June 7, when he was moved to the leadoff spot: .298/.401/.422; 133 wRC+.....
  5. He's actually been better against RHP this year. And don't worry there'll be plenty of howling with Hiura out of today's lineup. lol
  6. It also depends on what other teams like the Padres do. And they have the second most difficult remaining schedule in baseball (9 games against the Dodgers), whereas we have only the 22nd most difficult remaining schedule.
  7. Pirates kind of have to announce a starter here....
  8. What team wants to guarantee $20 million to a reliever who has been as historically bad as Hader has been since the beginning of summer, and especially since the deadline? No one is going to trade for that when they can just force the issue on the Padres, who aren't going to want shoulder that cost either.
  9. This is why he is setting himself up to be non-tendered. No way the Padres are going to pay that much if Hader continues on this track. We should be counting our blessings that we traded Hader when we did and managed to get two quality prospects in return, in addition to a nice late-inning reliever in Rogers.
  10. Depends on what your objectives are. If it's the division, then yes, a sweep is probably necessary. But, if it's the wild card, then it's not necessary considering the Padres' remaining schedule and the fact that we're only 1.5 games out (technically, 2.5, but we also have 3 more games remaining than the Padres). A sweep would be great, obviously, but that's still hard to do regardless of the opponent. 2/3 should be the expectation here, as it was against the Cubs.
  11. Padres have been mediocre like us since the deadline. They also have one of the most difficult remaining schedules in baseball and have three less total games than us. Definitely an opportunity.
  12. Glad we can count on you for every positive Cardinals update. You seem to have a higher affinity for them than the Brewers. I wouldn't count on the division at this point. The wild card is our likely ticket with how difficult the Padres' remaining schedule is and the fact that they're not getting anticipated contributions from Tatis and Hader.
  13. We kind of do have an idea considering his slide started WHILE pitching in Milwaukee.
  14. Fun fact: Christian Yelich (2.5 bWAR) has been more valuable than Bryan Reynolds (2.0 bWAR) this season....
  15. Ahhhh Demi. Fun fact: I played with him in my teenage years when I lived in Canada. Tools for days, but just didn't have that passion for the game and getting better that the successful ones tend to have. Not surprised he ended up flaming out.
  16. Curious how you would personally rank the Mitchell, Frelick, Wiemer, triumvirate. Frelick has the higher floor imo due to his bat but Mitchell and Wiemer have the higher ceilings with their defense and raw power. Not that Frelick is a slouch on defense either. All things considered, I think they're quite close, but if I had to pick I would go Frelick, Wiemer, Mitchell. Ruiz is clearly behind all of them, but could prove to be a valuable utility player.
  17. Which is beyond fascinating since Hader has been so atrocious for the Padres....
  18. I don't know if he would be that better off, considering they haven't been able to do much with Kimbrel. Plus, he's got the familiarity in Milwaukee and has already won three reliever of the year awards here.
  19. Gives up two more runs and his ERA is now well over 6....
  20. If the Padres end up non-tendering him in the offseason, wonder if he would consider resigning with us to get right in our pitching lab...What a scenario that would be.
  21. If the Padres non-tender Hader after the season, wonder if he would resign with us to get himself right.
  22. Padres also with the 4th most difficult schedule remaining in MLB.
  23. Did the bare minimum against the Cubs. Now need to take 2/3 or more from the Pirates. Hader in the process of blowing up again for the Padres.
  24. I wouldn't be so sure considering all of the line-outs to the right side he's piled up over the course of this season. Of all the players in baseball, the stats pretty clearly show that he'll be one of the main beneficiaries. He does need to elevate the ball more frequently, for sure.
