  1. I'm disappointed in the lack of a bat acquired at the deadline, but I really don't think Stearns cares what the analysts on MLB network think...
  2. What they really needed was a top of the rotation starter (Montas, Rodon, Castillo, etc.), and they failed to get one. Quintana and Montgomery are far from needle-movers in that regard.
  3. I don't think any NL contender other than the Padres did anything that should massively affect their playoff odds. And, please, do tell me where I said the Brewers improved their playoff chances this deadline...
  4. Except Bush will be here next year, and the year after...
  5. Man. So many shots right at fielders right now.
  6. He literally isn't "much of a downgrade."
  7. If you judge success based on getting to the World Series, particularly for a small-market franchise like the Brewers, you're going to be perpetually disappointed...
  8. Solid C. I was expecting a bat, though I'm glad they didn't mortgage the farm to do it. Still, I think we needed another hitter who can hit LHP. Really excited about the prospects we got in the Hader deal. Rogers isn't really much of a downgrade from Hader and Lamet is a sleeper. Also, happy about getting Bush. He can be a key late-inning reliever for us. Think Kelly is ultimately destined for the bullpen.
  9. Dodgers? Cardinals didn't exactly do much either...
  10. Lately? 4 straight playoff appearances and seemingly about to make it a 5th...
  11. More relief help.
  12. What makes you think his K% will suddenly decrease when it has done nothing but skyrocket since 2019?
  13. I, too, doubt they can afford three 300$ million dollar contracts at their market size. And Soto isn't just going to be going for $300 million. He'll top $500 million easily when he hits FA...
  14. It's not that he "probably wouldn't have continued to." It's that he wouldn't have with a 45% K rate and .520 BABIP...
  15. Goodbye Padres Farm System...Also, too bad, cause Drury is a guy I wanted with how he mashes LHP.
  16. Yeah. Nothing in that line of quotes screams serious to me.
  17. No one actually seriously entertained the possibility. The discussion was more in fun and jest than anything.
  18. Our schedule is almost as easy. Especially after we get done with facing the Dodgers.
  19. You have a problem with good relievers? And Kelly may turn out to be something, but he's still pretty far away from the majors and is probably ticketed for the bullpen anyways.
