  1. You don't see that because there is no such thing as a fan who doesn't get excited after a win. And if there is outside of my knowledge, then I would question what they're doing being a fan in the first place. But every discussion should at least try to remain grounded in reality. The "Brewers are bad" because they lost one game to the Pirates is not anywhere close to reality. And the game threads during/after losses lately have had a propensity to get quite toxic, which is why I made my above comment.
  2. People can say whatever the heck they want. But that also doesn't mean that other people don't have the right to push back against what someone else says if they disagree with it and especially if they have the facts to back it up. The goal of any public forum, besides open discussion, should be to arrive at deeper understanding of reality. Constant negative crap like, "this team sucks", "x reliever is a garbage can", etc. does absolutely nothing to aid that process. '
  3. Yeah, our pitchers are going to have to have that mindset. Reynolds is the one guy in that lineup who can kill you, and he's on a tear right now. Also, if we happen to lose a game this weekend, can we please not go back to the "this team is bad" takes. Brewers are not going to go undefeated against the Pirates for the entire season....
  4. Brewers need to think about making Jace Peterson the everyday third baseman (against RHP) and moving Urias to second. Not only is Jace our best position player right now, but he's right up there with Arenado defensively. No more of this putting him in the outfield.
  5. The Brewers need to do everything they can to get Burnes signed to a long-term contract extension. He has a real chance to become the greatest pitcher in Brewers history. Also, I read that he recently purchased a house in MKE fwiw. Hader should be dangled once again this offseason, but it needs to be for a fair value. Otherwise, just ride with him in the last year of his contract and go for it. Woody is the one I'd be interested in trading given that he's older than Freddy and Corbin and we have Ashby who has front-line potential. Would help both salary-wise and with replenishing the farm system. Houser should probably be dealt, too. Hopefully, he can turn things around here and return to being a 3.50 ERA guy. Those types of guys who can also eat innings have a ton of value. Small would likely be his replacement, which is why I hope they start working him out of the bullpen soon like our previous starting pitching prospects.
  6. Brice Turang is your Jace Peterson replacement, so long as he doesn't get traded at the deadline.
  7. Avi Garcia! Helps the old team out by hitting a two-run shot to give the Marlins the lead as they were down to their final out.
  8. FWIW, the Cardinals got swept by the Rays at the Trop...
  9. No you haven't been reading that. All you've read is that Houser has a track record of being a solid starter and that he's better than the average MLB 5th option. Literally no one is expecting Houser to pitch shutouts. Just to keep us in games at the very least similar to how Lauer did today.
  10. Not sure about "the relative weaknesses of the farm system". This farm system is on the ascent, headlined by a potential top 10 prospect in Chourio and three other top 100 prospects who are close to the bigs in Frelick, Wiemer, and Turang. It's not quite back to the top tier, but it's making its way up after several years in the mid to low 20s....
  11. Winning is fun. This team is capable of much more than just "beating up on the Cubs, Reds, and Pirates". Now, hopefully Alcantara tosses one of his complete game gems against the Cardinals tonight.
  12. Or maybe Woodruff doesn't have to show anything because he's already put together three straight seasons of Top 10 pitching and possesses stable peripheral numbers while his ERA is held up by a rough opening start in frozen Chicago following a shortened spring training.
  13. I remember when some people on here were ready to crucify Devin, while the rest of us remained calm as we noted his traditional slow starts.
  14. Exactly. Even a start by Lauer today is enough to keep us competitive and in the game. What we need to avoid from those guys is starts like Houser's on Friday where it's 5-0 in the second inning.
  15. Would love to see Rowdy in the Home Run Derby....He has a non-zero chance of getting invited this year.
  16. Tropicana field, where balls go up and never come down....
