With Clevinger just returning from the IL and coming off Tommy John surgery before that, I doubt he will be able to last much past the 4th inning today….
A win today would go a long way towards removing some of the sour taste from this past week, which has mostly been the result of our dire injury situation. Curious to see what lineup they’ll put out there. Hopefully not a complete concession like yesterday’s.
Like others on here, I also don't understand the benefit/logic of continuing to hold Renfroe/Adames out, particularly when they themselves have acknowledged that they are ready to go. A lineup like today is just conceding defeat. Like do you have to give Caratini an off-day too if Yelich and Urias aren't going to play? The conservatism of this team with respect to injuries/playing time is starting to get quite frustrating.
It's very thorough and from a very well-respected poster/contributor on this site, so I don't know what the heck you're talking about. And quite offensive if you ask me.
Narvaez's OPS is awesome for a catcher, and he's one of the best pitch framers in the biz. Adames led the league in homers for a shortstop when he went on the IL and was headed for an all-star appearance. Urias was worth a 3.0 WAR last year with over 20 home runs and was hitting like that until his recent thumb issue flared up. There's a greater context to all of these things. Just saying "their OPS is below .800!" doesn't really work.
Yep. Why I said I can't wait for Tuesday, when it looks like Adames will be back to assume pretty much all of his playing time. Also promising in that it sounds like Urias won't have to go on the IL.
I'm not sure if it's quite fair to cast judgments on this offense at this particular point in time with all of our injuries and the fact that we've played 18 games in 17 days. They were more than fine in April and May, albeit with a weaker schedule. A guy like Andrew Benintendi would certainly help, though.
