  1. Is this Cain's last stand? He's virtually guaranteed playing time until Renfroe comes back in a week or so. Wonder if he doesn't figure it out by then they will consider DFA'ing him...
  2. And then this ump gives Wainwright those first two pitches to Taylor, while squeezing Lauer the half inning before....Automated strike zone cannot get here fast enough.
  3. Hopefully he can find something and get through the next two innings relatively unscathed. Did a good job getting Pujols to ground out there. And thankfully, Wainwright is in just as bad of shape currently.
  4. Okay. But the discussion was about the quality of the pitching.
  5. What it indicates is the Brewers' pitching numbers are far more sustainable than the Cardinals'. Even as "old fashioned" stats go, Brewers' team ERA is 3.28 and the Cardinals' is 3.78.
  6. Of course, there are things such as underlying metrics like WAR, FIP, xFIP, K/9, etc. where the Brewers have them beat and it's not even close.
  7. Maybe. But even that's questionable. 26th in starting pitching WAR per fangraphs. Compared to the Brewers, who are 4th for starting pitchers and 2nd for all pitchers.
  8. I would say no, when the guy has an ERA above 5 the last two years and is only now making his first starts in the major leagues. Wainwright is #1, only surpassed by Flaherty, but he hasn't been healthy for almost a year now.
  9. I wouldn't say that when Wainwright was their starter in the wildcard game last year and their opening day starter this year. And the point would still remain if either of those two were actually #1. Definitely not Scherzer, Burnes, Fried types.
  10. The Cardinals are really good on defense make no mistake about it, but that's was awesome to see.
  11. If a 40 year old Wainwright is your #1 starter and you view yourselves as a legitimate contender, that's a problem. Good thing they have Goldschmidt and Arenado.
  12. I thought that was gonna be caught the whole way. Nice surprise!
  13. I wouldn't go that far when Counsell just said the other day after the MRI that they fully expect him to return this season. Average recovery timetable for this sort of injury is 6-10 weeks, which is not really that close to a season ender at this point.
  14. Great to hear and continued prayers for her and baby. Can't wait to "meet" the little guy.
  15. Sometimes it's hard to believe people are actually fans of this team when they look for every reason to sell the team short despite what is clearly indicated by the stats.
  16. Tonight would be a good one to get to start off the series on the right foot. Just look at our hitters' previous history against Wainwright. Assuming Ace Lauer makes his scheduled appearance tonight, we should be in good shape to pull this one out.
  17. The blog post that you are referring to was a little over the top. While Am Fam Field may need to undergo some renovations within the next few years, there are definitely more urgent ballpark situations throughout the league. But yes, so much surrounding this team and franchise to be optimistic about!
  18. Your Milwaukee Brewers now have the best record in franchise history through 44 games...
  19. I do wonder if Counsell's use of Williams for the third day in a row today was based on intelligence that Hader will be available in St. Louis this weekend...
  20. Yeah. He looks like he should have no problem filling Peralta's shoes.
  21. I am so proud of this team. They seem to be developing that championship-caliber mentality right before our very eyes.
  22. All I ask is don't let Machado's spot come up....
  23. Cutch has definitely been a better presence at the plate lately. Good to see!
  24. If only that Box would've showed up on Monday, we would be looking at a potential series sweep. Regardless, well done my man!
