  1. 2 bases loaded no out opportunities. 0 runs. There's your ballgame.
  2. Huge and I mean HUGE bullet dodged right there...
  3. Good god. Please don't load the bases for Machado.
  4. Beautiful job from Houser tonight going 6 innings, especially after Freddy's shortened start yesterday. Best #5 starter in the game, I'd say...
  5. Sheesh, Cronenworth doing his best Dansby Swanson impression...
  6. Official scorer at Petco working hard to get Grisham's OPS above .500...
  7. Quick ground ball outs from Houser sure are a beautiful sight.
  8. Cutch in RF? Ewwww. Though I would obviously appreciate it leading to more playing time for Hiura.
  9. David Dahl, anyone? Injuries seem to be coming fast now.
  10. Judging by most of the Padres' batting lines and the fact that they are missing Tatis, I would definitely vote for Machado as the NL MVP right now. Only explanation other than their pitching for how they have 27 wins.
  11. Maybe not entirely. But he went from a guy that was showing very little power in the minors to experiencing a sudden power explosion. I always thought one of his main weaknesses was that he was a little too selective at the plate, turning down hittable pitches in search of a walk.
  12. I'm starting to think his 2019/2020 seasons had a lot to do with the juiced ball...
  13. True. But at least Cain has his glove to fall back on so he hasn't been a negative in WAR. Cano doesn't, hence his -0.7 WAR.
  14. Starting centerfielder Tyrone Taylor! And just like that his OPS is over .700...
  15. How can a serious contender have the corpse of Robinson Cano hitting in the six-hole. Bet Padres fans are counting the days till Tatis returns.
  16. I guess the "good news" is that, of our Big 3, he is the one that we can probably most afford to lose for an extended period of time. That and Lauer's ascension into near-ace status. Now, Freddy can focus on being rested and ready to go for the stretch run, when we will really need him.
  17. Agreed. He was even dominant with us for a stretch last year before the wheels kind of fell off a little bit. Hope he's learned a lot and ready to start out fast.
  18. Prayers and thoughts with Josh and his wife. This is bigger than baseball.
  19. Taylor in the lineup again. Great to see, and makes me think CC and co. are just about done with Cain. Meanwhile, if our pitchers can find a way to limit the damage from Machado, who has been one of the two best players in baseball this season alongside Trout, we will set ourselves up for a great series.
  20. Gonna be a tough few games. Thankfully, Trevor Gott has been outstanding out of the bullpen, so he will probably end up moving to the 7th inning role, pushing Boxberger and Williams back an inning respectively. Also, let me just say best wishes to Josh and his wife, Maria, as they await what is hopefully the birth of a healthy child.
  21. What I don't get is how a guy like Gorman from the Cardinals can be a consensus top 30 prospect when he strikes out with virtually the same frequency as Wiemer, who possesses just as much power and is actually a better fielder. To me, that screams of an implicit bias from the people who put these lists together.
  22. Brown should never work on a uniform, yet the Padres have managed that and more. Life is so good with the Brewers back with the ball and glove logo and the Padres in their brown pinstripes.
