  1. Avi Garcia butchered that same exact play numerous times last year. Love the Renfroe pickup and the fact that we were able to unload JBJ in the process.
  2. And of course they go to Perdomo...Not the strategy you want to see in a one run game. Please prove my fears wrong Perdomo.
  3. No excuse not to use Williams and Hader with the off-day tomorrow and their general lack of activity over the past week.
  4. I think I'd rather see the other Johnny Davis before Hiura at this point. He's got some time before the NBA draft...
  5. Even so, they're the best tools we have to evaluate defense at this point. The Phillies are not good on defense by any stretch, but it's not bad enough to completely negate their good offense and starting pitching. But the evidence didn't quite fit with his narrative, so he had to resort to things such as "voodoo" to make his case.
  6. About as bad as you'll ever see from Corbin, and yet he's kept us right in this game through six innings and didn't even issue a walk on the day. Ace level grit.
  7. Never did I say they were great. I was just refuting your claim that they are so bad on that end that it negates their great offense and starting pitching. I am still waiting for you to provide one piece of evidence other than "voodoo" that the Cardinals are good and the Phillies are bad. But whatever you say, I guess.
  8. No. The stats do not bear this out. In fact, the Phillies aren't even currently in the top 8 of the worst defenses in baseball. So, quit repeating it.
  9. Canceled out by superior offense and pitching by the Phillies. So, if you consider the Cardinals to be good, then you cannot go ahead and say the Phillies are not good. Maybe, the fact that we actually won the series against them has something to do with your classification.
  10. It's not even a quality of pitching argument at this point. Case in point, he blasted two home runs against one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball the other night, Just so vexing and frustrating. I'm done trying to figure it out, though.
  11. Bring me some evidence to show that the 2022 Cardinals are superior to the 2022 Phillies, other than your subjective opinions about things such as "voodo", and I will accept it wholeheartedly.
  12. I don't understand how a guy can go from destroying Max Meyer the other day to whiffing through a fastball right down the middle...
  13. Okay so you're admitting that your argument is entirely subjective, in which case we should accord very little regard to it.
  14. And yet you can take the Cardinals seriously when their rotation is comprised of 40 year olds and soft-tossers galore? Not to mention starting two 40 year olds in their regular lineup?
  15. Okay. Based on what? Last season? Your own opinion? Well, this is a new season, and the Phillies as constructed and as currently producing certainly meet the criteria for a "good team". Also, you can't say the Cardinals are a good team, and not the Phillies. Most projection sites, such as 538, have them winning virtually an identical number of games. Even on paper, the Phillies have the Cards beat on offense and in the rotation.
  16. They've been significantly better than the Braves. +15 run differential, one of the best lineups in baseball. Wheeler and Nola atop the rotation. They're a good team.
  17. They did take 2/3 from the Phillies, who have Castellanos...
  18. Not particularly. Especially when you consider his minuscule home run rates the last two seasons.
  19. Suter does not "suck". He might not have the greatest stuff in the world, but he does not suck.
  20. I wouldn't mind giving David Dahl a look either, though he can't play center. Turang can, and you would assume he would be the callup if Adames has to go on the IL. Although, Hiura was absent from the Nashville lineup tonight. Maybe that means something?
  21. Can we fast forward to the trade deadline? I know they're going to give Cain every opportunity until then, and yet he still won't have a home run on the season and his OPS will be well below .500.
