  1. He was definitely a poster here in the old days.
  2. That's a great band name.
  3. I've seen you say this in a few threads, but I don't recall that. I only heard Braun say he's willing to try and the team say they're going to try him there. It's very possible I missed something, but where did you see that?
  4. I hope all those Cub fans who are convinced they're getting Yu for 4/90 see that.
  5. In addition, don't forget the benefit of dollar-cost averaging. If you're regularly contributing to your investment account and/or 401k, you're buying at all point of the market. When you buy in down markets, your overall cost basis goes down. You're much better off doing that, as opposed to trying to time the market.
  6. Not an attorney, but I am on the condo association board of my building. Your condo project master association documents should spell out pretty clearly what the association is responsible for replacing. I would assume roof repairs are one of the items. If the association is responsible, and there are not enough funds in the reserve, you're going to have to do a special assessment. Do you have a management company that works with your association? If so, they should be able to handle the communication and collection. If you self-manage, you're going to be stuck in the boat you describe - trying to get money out of your neighbors.
  7. I think Bauer has significant upside. He's a guy that is probably too smart for his own good - he thinks too much on the mound. I've read about him constantly tinkering with pitches, delivery, etc. I believe i saw an article (can't find it at the moment) from this off-season that detailed his efforts to add a new pitch mid-season, and that he's working on it over the winter. I think he's a guy that could flourish with the right pitching coach. I think Johnson is good, maybe he's the guy?
  8. I find this so odd from somebody who loved Isan Diaz so much. Dubon never played in Appleton.
  9. Nottingham tweeted a couple of interesting things last night. Maybe he was just inspired by the Grammys, but perhaps he's heard something about needing to take a physical this week...https://twitter.com/JacobNottingham
  10. To get an all-star player, in his prime, with 5 year of control, without giving up any pitching is a steal. I'm excited that the Brewers have finally sold high on a prospect in Harrison. He's the perfect guy to sell high on - one good year and he plays a position that is one of strength in the system. The people that hate it were going to hate any trade, so I'm not too concerned about the reactions of some here. Oh, and refresh my memory, do we still need pitching?
  11. Originally yes. But they released him after 2011 and then brought him back via FA in 2013.
  12. I assume said letter will make sure to note that he was the classiest of all your employees and always followed the rules, particularly the unwritten ones.
  13. I was thinking "M_____ College" too. I looked at all the ones I could find in Illinois, Indiana, & Iowa, since the Cubs are popular in all those states, increasing chances some team would "borrow" the Cubs logo, much like there are high schools in Wisconsin that used the Wisconsin W (until the university threatened to sue them). I couldn't find anything that matched, but many colleges have changed logos since the early 90s. This is a needle in a haystack search, but someone will figure it out.
  14. My guess is that it's a college team. I suppose it could also be a high school team, that's around the time I was in high school and I remember some teams had custom logos, though I'm not sure if New Era was doing the hats for HS, Legion, etc. teams at that point.
  15. Actually, he'll be "Will Farrell impersonating Harry Caray" which will get (or already has gotten?) old real quick.
  16. Somehow I didn't know this podcast existed. I listened to the JJ/Arbitration episode this morning, and it's excellent. I've always enjoyed (and appreciated) Josh's contributions to this site, but this podcast was even better. It also solidified JJ as one of my favorite Brewers.
  17. Freeway is still around. I've seen him at Leff's in Tosa on numerous occasions.
  18. If it's true there are dominoes involved and it's a one time deal, I won't get my hopes up for anything to happen. We're the Brewers, we're destined for disappointment. We get it. You're ready to be disappointed. The Brewers always disappoint you. How many times are you going to post that?
  19. I think the Ellsbury talk all started from Yankee fans on Twitter hearing that the Brewers were looking a a trade involving an OF. They assumed the Brewers were looking for OFs, and would want Ellsbury. I haven't seen anyone of note indicate, speculate, or otherwise guess that the Brewers are even talking to the Yankees, let alone inquiring about Ellsbury.
  20. So you think he's a terrible pitcher and you're pissed that he's leaving the organization. Got it.
  21. **guilty**
  22. I think he makes sense for the Brewers, because a shorter, higher AAV contract makes sense for the team. They have payroll flexibility now, and know nearly every FA contract is one year too long (particularly for pitchers), could potentially avoid a "dead weight" year at the back end of the contract.
  23. They did a great job with unsignable guys, though - Carlos Rodon and Mallex Smith.
