  1. If this was the plan all along, why did both Stearns and Counsell talk about how great Lamet's stuff is? Why even address what he could do for our team? It doesn't seem like that was at all the plan all along. It doesn't really seem like there WAS a plan all along.
  2. I'm curious why people are rather dismissive of Kelly, but based on what the older Gasser did this year, we'd be calling him untouchable? 90 IP 115K, .252 BAA, 1.26 Whip, .92 GO/FO ratio 91 IP 126K, .189 BAA, 1.23 Whip, 1.00 GO/FO ratio Both lefties, both in HiA. Doesn't seem like Brewers fans would be calling Glasser untouchable if he were in our system. Seems like they'd be dismissing him...as many are doing with Kelly at this point(unless we didn't trade him). I fully understand if people just want to say, "Stearns has earned all benefits, I don't get it, but I'll blindly trust him." That makes sense to me and I'm not being sarcastic or snide. But it seems like the opinions of the Brewers prospects have changed only because they've been shipped out.
  3. Well, the one certainty I know is that he was hitting .303/.418/1.069 OPS line vs righties, walking nearly 12 pct of the time, average exit velocity of 93+, a ~50% hard hit rate and you're probably never going to get the strikeout rate down if you send him down when he's finally starting to hit the ball hard again, hitting for power and getting on base. Fully understand projecting what a player is going to do when looking at trades. Doesn't make much sense when it's a player who's ACTUALLY performing on your team, you've need more offense and you send the guy giving you that down.
  4. Also with exceptional exit velocity and actual....production. When did we get to the point where projecting when a player will start struggling trumps his actual performance? The ACTUAL tangible results on the field? I'm all for analytics, though, they probably made the game more boring, but each team better. But this game isn't as complicated as people make it at times. Hiura was hitting the ball hard. He was hitting well. And the argument is really, "yeah, but he probably wouldn't have continued to?" Ok
  5. Ok...but if he's not good in LF, what do you think he's going to look like in CF? I'm looking at improving on balance. Not just offensively, but overall. How many balls just in the last 2 weeks would have dropped with Yelich in CF vs Taylor(who I don't think is a particularly good CFer, but at least passable). Scoring matters...and obviously STOPPING the other team from scoring matters. I still remember the Brewers opting for offense and FOUR runs(all 4 runs) the Cards scored were the direct result of terrible CF defense.

  7. I was on board until the Yelich in CF part. I'd rather bring Kotsay back and stick him in CF. I'd be all for Ian Happ if the Cubs didn't tax the Brewers for the right.

  9. That floor seems awfully similar to Brandon Crawford though with a bit less power. But I'm probably just more bullish on Turang. I've been a big fan since I saw him in Appleton and I see some Trea Turner in him. I think with his speed, his plate discipline, even if his SLG doesn't go over .400, I have a hard time seeing him hitting .240. Consistent contact, LDs, the balls he'll beat out with his plus speed... He's the type of guy that if he was in AA and just crushing the pitching down there hitting .300/.400/.400 with his plus defense, even without nice power, people would be MUCH more excited about him...IMO. I think his prospect status is a big the result of his own success. Moving quickly through the minors and being very consistent, but not flashy. Weimer and Mitchell for example, both a year older, both a level lower. We'll see, but 22 years old, ~290/.360/.400 at AAA, 60 speed, 60 defense, 55 hit tool and arm. As for Soto...yeah, that could be franchise altering, but...I love the way the Brewers are building a consistent contender right now and building their farm system(which I have no doubt would be ranked in the top 10 if it belonged a team in NY or LA). It'd be fun to picture him in this lineup, playing RF. It'd be miserable seeing what I'd guess would be 5 of our top 7-8 prospects heading to Washington and possibly more than that.

  11. How about if he's a guy I'd like to see 2-3 At bats vs a Right handed starter in a playoff game and then possibly pinch hit for when the starter comes out? Then can I think it's a big deal he got demoted? Or maybe I just want to see what he can do. He WAS after all our prized top prospect who raked when he came up, struggled, then when he started to show signs of turning a corner...and yes, I understand, not all the peripherals were looking great, but the raw results were and I'd like to ride those as long as possible to see if they turn into something a bit more. I think it's pretty remarkable what he's done this year vs right handed pitchers when he hasn't been given consistent opportunities to stay in the lineup. I was of the belief that we were hoping for some iteration of 2019 Hiura and Yelich to come back. That this could solve a whole lot of our offensive issues. Yelich is of course going to get every opportunity and it would appear he's become more Shin Shoo-Choo than MVP at this point(not that anyone expected a .670 SLG again, but....500? Meanwhile we've got a guy posting a .303/.418/.652 line vs righties and he's in AAA? Because he's been lucky? Sure, that'll level out. The 93+ exit velocity is likely to keep it high. His use of right field should also help him maintain a higher BABIP(obviously not .512, but...high enough vs RHers). I'm not sure the Brewers have the luxury of sending guys down who are barreling up baseball's and doing damage at the plate because we're projecting that they won't be able to maintain it.
  12. .290/.370/.430 while playing SS with plus speed and defense...seems like that's be incredibly valuable. *****, it'd fit like a dream right now in this lineup. Throw him in at CF, 2B, a SS in a few years if Willy isn't extended. The exact type of player we've been missing. Someone who can hit for a solid average and get on base while providing a lot of defensive value(he's played CF). In fact, it sounds like Benintendi, but not limited to LF(or a CF if a team is forced to give up Defense for offense). I've also been a big Turang fan for several years...since they drafted him. I love the hit tool, the plate discipline, speed and the defense. You could do a lot worse for a top of the order hitter. I'd be completely out on Bell if it included Turang.
