  1. Plus by the time WC weekend rolls around Steele will be 50+ innings over his career high IP.
  2. Really hope the game doesn't come down to 2 runners that scored after reaching on a BS walk and HBP that missed the strike zone by 2 inches. The BB and HBP
  3. Tough AB for Canha getting pitches off the edge that if you know you don't swing at it will be called a strike so forced into swinging at low positive outcome pitches.
  4. Does Frelick swing at the 1-1 changeup if it's 2-0? Does he even get a changeup in that situation?
  5. Absolutely pathetic umpiring. Every single call has gone the Cubs way so far and it's nearing on 8+ calls in 2 innings.
  6. Unfortunately the batted ball data really isn't trending up at all. The results have gotten better in the last 2 weeks but that isn't from improved batted ball numbers. Here are his batted ball numbers over the last 2 weeks taking out the HR against the position player. Avg EV - 86.2 Sweet Spot % - 28.2% Barrel % - 5.1% Hard HIt % - 23.1% Negative LA + LA over 40 - 21 of 39 (53.8%) All of those numbers are still really poor and the only number that's really seen any improvement is the sweet spot % which is still a poor number.
  7. Hendricks gets up 0-2 on 2 pitches that were balls for Woodruff last inning. ROBOT UMPS!
  8. Woodruff throws 3 strikes in a 5 pitch walk then Hoerner gets to dip his elbow into a pitch barely off the strike zone for a HBP. What a joke.
  9. Still not in love with the idea of promoting Black to get a majority of AB at 3B. His batted ball data has been horrific in AAA. Average EV of 85.9, Sweet Spot % of 21.3%, Barrel% of 4.9%, Hard Hit % of 23.0%. 39 of his 61 batted balls (63.9%) have either had a negative LA or a LA above 40.
  10. You're funny. Edit: It took me 16.82 seconds to go from this page to the page that got me that FB% stat. 16.82 seconds shouldn't be a too significant amount of time for a poster to verify their doom and gloom thought before posting.
  11. Yes Hendricks pitched well against the Brewers in July but look at the lineup today compared to that day. That day we had Winker, pre-IL stint Tellez, Miller, Perkins, Wiemer. Those 5 hitters have been replaced by Santana, healthy Tellez, Monasterio, Canha, Frelick. Brewers are putting a much better lineup out there today than Hendricks saw in July
  12. Since so much doom and gloom has already filled up this thread before the game has even started, I would like to point out that the Brewers active roster has a .340 xwOBA against Hendricks compared to their .288 wOBA. They are due.
  13. Brewers active roster FB% is 36.1% which is 25th in the MLB but hey too geared to hit fly balls
  14. Interesting considering he's never had a double digit strikeout game in his 32 career games against the Brewers
  15. Wes Clarke just continues to evaporate baseballs. He's had an incredible season.
  16. Bottom 3 run franchise in the sport easily. Rockies, A's, and Angels.
  17. I thought the same but I have serious doubts any of these players (maybe Renfroe but doubt we want him) would make it to us on the waiver list. Would love Moore or Lopez to replace Chafin.
  18. Feel like that 1st inning just sucked all the energy out of the crowd
  19. Payamps actually came up as a starter so not that concerned about him. From 2018 to 2021 (excluding 2020 obviously) he went 60-100+ in innings including winter ball.
  20. Yeah Bukauskas is here to eat innings in a situation where Miley doesn’t go long or there’s a big lead/deficit. Even if Wilson was available they probably would have done this but Wilson being unavailable for probably the whole Cubs series (at least the first 2) made it an even more obvious decision.
  21. I was reading @Matthew Trueblood’s series preview on northsidebaseball and he seems to think the opposite in terms of bullpen. Our bullpen is fresh and healthy while he said their bullpen is a bit worn down and a bit injured.
  22. Gasser pitched on Friday. No point in bringing him up to sit on the bench for the Cubs series while being unavailable to pitch.
  23. Yeah I think they do that and then go to a 6-man rotation for the rest of the season after that especially with no off days from September 8th to 24th.
