  1. This is way too generous to the Cubs pitching. Steele is already 25 IP over his career high. Taillon hasn't been good this year and then they have 2 rookies in their rotation in Assad and Wicks.
  2. Also after glossing over the option rules, pitchers need to be down for 15 days before they can be recalled from AAA unless they are replacing someone who was added to the IL. The 10 is for position players. They both match up with the minimum IL stints for position players and pitchers.
  3. All that optioning doesn't at all seem necessary when you have a 14-man pitching staff with a 9-man bullpen.
  4. Congratulations to the Cubs for having three well pitched games in a row. 2 being with the wind blowing in at Wrigley and the other being against the Reds who were one of the worst hitting teams in the MLB in August with an 80 wRC+. Just give them the division now I say.
  5. At least BruisedCrew moved on from the Cardinals winning the division.
  6. Customary doom and gloom in the game thread before the game even started. Basically to be expected at this point.
  7. If Gasser doesn't get the call now tomorrow when the Brewers actually need a spot start then I doubt we see him at all this season.
  8. His surface numbers might not be amazing this year but his peripheral numbers are outstanding.
  9. EBJ almost pulled it off. What an effort it was from the team and pitching staff.
  10. Could also just not want Gasser to debut against a red hot Phillies lineup that has been crushing LHP lately.
  11. Cam Robinson gets out of it! Strikeout, 5-4 FC, 4-6 FC gets the job done. Shuckers win!
  12. Cam Robinson starts off the 9th with 2 straight walks. The second being against a hitter who appeared to be attempted to sac bunt the runner to 2B. Biloxi is nursing a 3-2 lead so this is getting awfully stressful.
  13. Yorman Galindez did give up 2 ER, but his breaking ball looks very good. Maybe we have another Edwin Jimenez type prospect here with a big breaking ball to build around.
  14. Owen Miller didn't play in either double header and I saw Gasser in the dugout. So Miller and Rea seems the best guess to me.
  15. Zavier Warren just hit a laser beam out of the park down the RF line. Had to touch down maybe 3 seconds after he made contact.
  16. That opposite field power is something else and on a FB above the belt as well.
  17. He cleared waivers. We signed him as a FA so all we owe him is the prorated minimum when he gets added to the 26 man roster
  18. Teheran with a rough 2nd inning giving up a lot of quality contact against. Sounds now down 4-3 after 2.
  19. Monte Harrison just hit an absolute nuke of a HR. 111 EV bomb well over the blue monster in LF. Tyler Black having a rough day though with 2 strikeouts on 6 pitches with 4 swings and misses
  20. The hitting environment in game 1 of this doubleheader is crazy difficult because of the shadows. A lot of bad AB in the 1st inning for both teams.
  21. Yes Rea was originally listed as starter of game 2 tonight and Caleb Boushley is not listed as game 2 starter. Definitely seems like Rea is getting the start on Saturday.
  22. Tyler Black's batted ball metrics in AAA this year. Avg EV - 85.9 Sweet spot % - 21.3% Barrel % - 4.9% (1 of the 3 barrels was off a position player) Hard hit % - 23.0% Josh Donaldson's MLB batted ball metrics this year. Avg EV - 92.8 Sweet spot % - 25.0% Barrel % - 19.7% Hard hit % - 51.3% I don't at all think it's safe to suggest Black who has had horrible batted ball metrics in AAA would be a better MLB hitter than Donaldson who has put up great batted ball metrics in the MLB this year
  23. He's staying with the White Sox
  24. Yeah career high was 119 last year and he’s at 144 now. 5-6 more starts and you could be 50-60 innings over his career high before the playoffs even start.
