  1. Italy not doing much to help themselves out. 5 walks through 3 innings and an error that led to Japan scoring their first run of the game. Should add this ump isn't doing much to help. He's totally squeezing Italy's pitchers.
  2. That was the second game Marte started. Adames was the only one of the Marte, Pena, Franco group to only start one game.
  3. DW looked on top of his game in the 8th inning today. Zuniga, pitched 8th inning for Columbia, has looked absolutely filthy this WBC and unfortunately the Cards picked him up this offseason.
  4. Did not look good. Would be a massive blow to the Mets. This also sucks for the WBC because the last thing they needed was a star player having a devastating injury.
  5. Absolutely agree. DR making a deep run with Adames stuck on the bench would have been terrible for the Brewers. Huge win for us that they lost.
  6. Adames once again on the bench for DR. Honestly really frustrating that he only played in one game during the group stages which likely means he won't be playing if they advance to the Quarterfinals. I have a feeling the Brewers are likely very upset with him hardly being used.
  7. Yesterday Rowdy was 1-4 with a double. These were his batted ball metrics. 98.6 EV, 4 LA, 94 FT, lineout to 1B. 111.7 EV, 9 LA, 305 FT, double to right center. 115.4 EV, 13 LA, 342 FT, lineout to RF. 95.8 EV, 29 LA, 350 FT, fly out to left center. Just really good contact but some unfortunate batted ball luck.
  8. Urias is not having a fun time in the WBC so far. 1-10 with a BB and 3 double plays at the plate then a crucial 10th inning error in their loss vs Columbia.
  9. If I got to make the call, Sal Frelick would be our opening day RF. Naquin has looked rough this spring and Perkins is clearly not ready for the MLB.
  10. Bratt faced at minimum probably 4 future HoFer in Trout, Goldschmidt, Arenado and Betts. Seeing him on the verge of tears was brutal.
  11. Uribe assigned to AA is interesting. Counsell was pretty open about Uribe starting the year in the minors, but surprised to see it all the way down in AA and not AAA.
  12. Alex Hall having a heck of a day for Australia in the win and guaranteed to advance game 2-4 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R with Australia currently up 6-1
  13. DeRosa using Devin Williams down 11-2 is certainly a choice.
  14. Why do we need a 2nd LHP on roster? Suter was our only LHP who was in a flexible role in 2021.
  15. I asked Eno Sarris (creator of stuff+) about Carlos Rodriguez stuff+ numbers yesterday. His overall stuff+ was 92.5 and his best pitch was the cutter with a 114 stuff+. I loved what I saw from Carlos Rodriguez. The confidence and calm he displayed on the mound pitching against a team with 8 MLB players in the lineup was very noticeable. If he can continue improving the stuff, I definitely think he can be a mid-rotation starter in the MLB.
  16. Haven't you been pretty vocal on how disapointing it is that the Brewers haven't yet extended at least one of Adames, Burnes, Woodruff? All 3 of those potential extensions would take them past the age of 32.
  17. A bad team hoping he could be a reclamation project maybe?
  18. Brutal days for Rowdy and Luis today for Mexico. Rowdy 0-5. Luis 0-4 and a 10th inning error that allowed the go-ahead run to score for Colombia.
  19. Impressive outing for Carlos Rodriguez. Absolutely looked the part against an MLB lineup. 4 IP, 2 H (both seeing eye ground balls), 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 HBP. The run should have never scored. Nicaragua's 2B blew a routine double play which would have ended the inning. Here's the clip of the blown double play.
  20. Panama ends up winning 2-0. Sal Frelick went 2-4 with a 2B for Italy. Javy Guerra picked up the save for Panama going 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO.
  21. Piazza sent him out for the 4th. Walk, Double Play, Strikeout. Final line 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO
  22. Think Vassalotti is probably done after his 3rd inning. If so his final line is 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO. He gave up a monster HR to Jose Ramos (a Dodgers prospect). Solid job from him.
  23. Michele Vassalotti is starting for Italy tonight against Panama. He had a 2.64 ERA for the Mudcats last year in A ball.
  24. Carlos Rodriguez will be starting for Nicaragua in their WBC opener against Puerto Rico. Awesome moment for the young prospect.
  25. Right hamstring tightness for Mitchell. Absolutely hate seeing this with his soft tissue injury history.
