Feliciano has 14 passed balls in 64 games in Nashville and has a caught stealing rate of 14.8% which is 7 percentage points below the league average. I had talked about this earlier this week and said I expected Navarreto behind the plate because his defense is much better back there than Feliciano and Severino.
Padres lose again and face Cease tomorrow. If we win we could be 1 (effectively 2) games behind San Diego with 4 games left. Really feels like we need to win out if we want to make the playoffs.
That 3 HR blown save at San Francisco before the all-star break might have been the most painful one. It was so clear that Hader was going to blow that game and CC just let him do it.
The issue isn't how Wong handled the play (he handled it well) it was him not running hard to 3B after the ball dropped. If he was running hard to 3B after the ball dropped then he likely scores when the LF lost track of the ball but because he loafed it to 3B him scoring was not a possibility.
Since the beginning of August the Brewers bullpen has the most meltdowns in the MLB (when a reliever lowers his teams win probability by 6% or more) with 41 and we are 26th in bullpen WPA. Bullpen has been a total failure since the deadline. The offense hasn't been great but our bullpen has been given numerous leads in lower scoring games in the last few months and has choked a ton of them away. Fixing the bullpen and bringing in a big bat are priority 1A and 1B this offseason.
Abreu likely would mean Yelich starts the year if LF with Abreu and Rowdy playing 1B/DH. If the OF kids are knocking on the door for more playing time you can always trade Rowdy/Renfroe to open up spots at some point in the season.
Agreed. I don't think it makes sense to have Woodruff pitch on short rest. Pitching SP on short rest has proven to a be a mixed bag and the overall numbers are worse when SP go on short rest.
He's not seeing the ball well again and he's chasing a ton because of it. He struckout both times in his last 2 AB despite only 1 of the 10 pitches Quintana threw him being in the strike zone.
Why do you continue speaking like the Brewers absolutely did not try to sign Burnes earlier during team control is a fact and not rampant speculation from you?
Yeah because they have actually had success drafting in the last decade which has kept both their team and farm strong. Brewers farm was decimated after the Yelich trade because we have sucked in the draft for a decade.
Here's a comparison of total bWAR from players drafted (and signed) by the Brewers and Cardinals from 2010 to 2020. Doesn't include players drafted and not signed.
Brewers have 40.7 bWAR from pitchers and 32.3 bWAR from position players for a total of 73 bWAR as of today. Cardinals have 63.5 bWAR from pitchers and 101.1 bWAR from position players for a total of 164.6 bWAR as of today.
So in an 11 draft span the Cardinals have drafted 91.6 more bWAR than the Brewers have.
