  1. Yelich is definitely not the same guy now that he was when we traded for him. He's a similar style but worse version. Yelich 4 full seasons in Miami he averaged 4.1 bWAR per 650 PA. In 21 and 22 Yelich is averaging 2.1 bWAR per 650 PA.
  2. That's just nasty. Thanks for giving the data. Just need to show that picture when people are upset he doesn't play more.
  3. Yelich's contract is an albatross for the Brewers. He's taking up 20% of our payroll and giving us 5.8% of our team WAR. That's debilitating for a small market team.
  4. He's underperforming a 7 year contract in year 1 as a 30 year old. It's only going to get worse. These types of contracts you need huge value up front to counteract the fall off that will come with age (basically how Lo Cain managed to perform to his contract because of a huge year 1)
  5. I feel like he can at least foul pitches off that are up and away and just straight up. Against up and in he just can't touch it. Mikolas located his pitches and dispatched Hiura like he was nothing.
  6. Hiura's complete inability to get the bat on FB up and in is just so sad. Just a gigantic hole in his swing.
  7. I just don’t see the reason the Brewers would extend Lauer. Pitchers of Lauer’s ability rarely ever get extensions. They are pretty much exclusively handled year by year. Out of the 109 SP with 200 IP in the last two years, Lauer is 85th in FIP, 89th in HR/9, and 79th in K/BB. Locking ourselves into 4 years of a pitcher of Lauer’s caliber seems like a move we would likely come to regret.
  8. What's the point of extending Lauer? Over the last two years he has a 112 ERA+ and 4.43 FIP. His xFIP and SIERA over the last two years is 4.24 and 4.22. I don't really see anything that suggests the Brewers should extend him.
  9. Nobody was bashing his ability at the plate lol.
  10. It was considered a WP but it really was a pitch that a catcher should be controlling. You call for a slider low and away you need to be able to control one in the dirt. Amazing job by Turang backing that up and saving a run.
  11. I'd be starting Navarreto. He's by far the best of the 3 behind the plate. CS rate well above league average and allows PB at a much lower rate than Severino and Feliciano. Assuming Frelick and Wiemer are healthy, you have plenty of offense between Frelick, Ruiz, Turang, Wiemer, Singleton, Reyes, Devanney.
  12. Feliciano fails to cut down another SB attempt in the 8th inning then lets a ball get away for him allowing Memphis runner to get to 3B with 0 outs. Really a ball he should have been controlling.
  13. 14 passed balls in 64 games and a CS% of 15.3% (6% lower than the International League average). He's been brutal behind the plate this year.
  14. Well his BABIP has been better because he's hitting far more line drives instead of fly balls. High FB hitters rarely carry high BABIP numbers. His LD rate in September is 31% compared to 12-18% for pretty much the entire rest of the year. His FB rate is also the lowest of the year. A lot of these issues were cause of his swing plane being more of an uppercut this year. Obviously there was some bad luck involved but he was never going to carry a high BABIP with his batted ball distribution in previous months.

  16. Well we already knew Wiemer was dealing with something. Jeff Hem told me it was left arm soreness for Wiemer. Frelick is the big question now. I wish we had better access to injury situations in the minor leagues especially for more highly rated prospects.
  17. If we lose this game it's going to be difficult not to look back on Hiura's massive brainfart in the second inning. Should have been 3-0.
  18. Maris has the AL record that is why he is chasing Maris.
  19. Yeah SD has the 7th most difficult schedule remaining (1 more at Coors then 3 against the Dodgers, Giants and White Sox). Philly is 20th (1 more against Atlanta then 4 against the Nats and 3 against the Cubs and Astros). We are 23rd (1 more against the Reds then 2 vs St. Louis, 4 vs Miami and 3 vs Arizona). A super hopeful 8-2 finish for the Brewers would still require either San Diego to close the year 5-5 or Philly close the year 6-5. It still doesn't look great for us.
  20. 1 game at a time, but we really need a sweep over the Reds if we want to make the playoffs. I think 9-2 gets us in, but even that isn't even close to a lock.
  21. Devanney certainly making a case for a 40 man roster add to protect himself from the rule 5 draft this year. With Reyes out of options I could see a scenario where Devanney takes his place on the 40 man
  22. Yeah. They play the IL East winner in October 1st. The winner of that game plays the winner of the PCL championship for the AAA championship on October 2nd
  23. Padres have lost 14 of 15 at Coors Field now. A little sweep at the hands of the Rockies would be fantastic.
  24. Classic Hader for the Padres tonight. He came in a jam in the 9th. Got 2 outs on 8 pitches then didn't come back out for the 10th despite only throwing 8 pitches. Dude just doesn't pitch more than 1 inning.
